Sports Debate: Who was the BEST Black Pro Wrestler of ALL TIME???

Not just one of the greatest high flyers of all time, one of the legit toughest guys in the business. Beat Road Warrior Hawk's ass in a fight in Japan and had Mr Hughes (who should be mentioned) shook in ECW.

2 Cold Scorpio

2 Gold Scorpio in ECW when he was Tag and TV champ.

2 Cold was a favorite. Doom Doom DoomDoomDoom 2 Cold... Doom Doom DoomDoomDoom Scorpio...

Damn whatever happened to him? What was his tag team dude name?

Moved to Germany for a few years and worked Europe and Japan with a rare US appearance here and there. From what I've heard, he's back in the US and he's still in great shape so I hope he pops up somewhere. Everybody, from EVOLVE to WWE, could use a veteran of his talent and experience.
His partner used to be Marcus "Buff" Bagwell. If there is a shoot interview you want to listen to, check out Scorpio.

 One of the few women that can be considered a legitimate draw.

Wanted to show some love to some of the older guys who really opened the doors for nearly all the people we've mentioned

Dory Dixon

Rufus R "Freight Train" Jones (and the R stood for "Guts", I swear he said that on tv).

Shag Thomas

On November 7, 2011, Jim Harris had his leg amputated due to complications of high blood pressure and diabetes, forcing him to retire. On March 27, 2012, Harris's son, Kamala Jr., stated in an interview that his father might also have his other leg amputated. His right leg was amputated shortly afterwards and a campaign was launched seeking donations to cover his financial needs.

my daughter's great grandfather SAILOR ART THOMAS... he passed away 10 years ago and I remember him being very strong and ripped in his 60's

Arthur Thomas (January 30, 1924 – March 20, 2003), better known as Sailor Art Thomas, was an American bodybuilder and professional wrestler. Thomas was born in Gurdon, Arkansas, as the son of Alfred and Jessie (Lunon) Thomas. Early in his life he moved to Wisconsin

He debuted as a pro wrestler in 1943, starting a four-decade career. He would usually be introduced as a "just discharged" Navy seaman, wearing a regulation "crackerjack" uniform and peacoat, and enter the ring as a plant to oppose the heel's dishonorable tactics. Between the 50s and the 70s he was one of only a few African-American pro wrestling stars. During the 1960s he received thirteen opportunities to wrestle for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, including eleven against "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers between 1961 and 1963. Thomas continued to work as a wrestler until the early 1980s.

"The Black Pope" Elijah Burke. Dude has world champion potential.

Abdullah the Butcher. One of the greatest ever and probably the greatest gimmick ever (even people in the business bought it).

Porkchop Cash. Great talent in the territory days as a singles and a tag.

First black heavyweight champ: Iceman King Parsons.

That was my boy right there. Rock lifted some of his phrases and swagger.
But there are other men who can claim to be first black heavyweight champ. Bobo Brazil is one, Ron Simmons the other (Simmons is the recognized as the first Black champion of a major national company).

The Rock
rockjacked_display_image.jpg

It is no doubt or questions as to why The Rock is considered the greatest Black Wrestler ever in the WWE. He was a huge star in the late 90's early 00's. He was instrumental to the success of the WWE during the Monday Night Wars, he along with Mick Foley use to garner some of the highest rated segments in RAW and Smackdown history.

With a wide following The Rock has electrified audiences all over the world, he is a former 9 Time World Champion, Royal Rumble Winner, IC and Tag Team Champion. In 2000 he and HHH has one of the greatest feuds in the History of the sport, it changed wrestling for ever as it brought in a whole range of different audiences and crowds.

The Rock was and still is the greatest man to ever hold a Microphone to his mouth. His catch phrases and taunts are still used today in movies, wrestling and in schools world wide. My Only hope is that The Rock will eventually get inducted into the WWE HOF as he is one of those Legends that although gone for now he will never be forgotten.

Former WWE star Kamala has been placed on life support Sunday after he underwent an emergency surgical procedure, his stepdaughter announced on Facebook.

Juanita James added doctors were unsure whether the legendary wrestler, whose real name is James Harris, would survive the surgery. On Monday, James said in a new Facebook post that Kamala is 'showing signs of improvement."

Doctors diagnosed Harris with diabetes in 1992, when he was working with WWE. Complications from the disease forced doctors to amputate both legs two decades later.

Bleacher Report's Jason King profiled Harris in 2014, detailing his rise through the wrestling business and subsequent health issues.

Most wrestling fans remember Harris from his time in WWE, most notably his feud with The Undertaker throughout 1992. The Undertaker earned a victory at SummerSlam 1992 and defeated Kamala again at Survivor Series 1992 in a casket match.\

Upon leaving WWE in 1993, Harris spent two years out of wrestling before debuting in WCW in 1995 and joining the Dungeon of Doom.

According to the Internet Wrestling Database, Harris last wrestled in 2010.

Did he win any of those 13 matches?

Still my favorite black wrestler of all time

Most memorable feud vs. Junkyard Dog in the Mid South territory. Best black on black feud ever. They used to sell out the Superdome. Even though JYD was immensely over as a fan favorite in Mid South, I always like Reed better despite him being the heel. They would wrestle each other in the WWF and WCW years later but it did not have the same heat and intensity as their Mid South feud in the early 80's.
