Supreme Court unanimously ruled, states can punish Electoral College members who refuse to support candidate who won statewide presidential election

You would have people campaign in major states and forget the rest. The electoral college isn’t the problem. It’s the candidates and their strategies.

You can’t argue for Al Gore and Hilary Clinton when they didn’t argue for themselves. Their lackadaisical approach to their campaigns is why they’re at that lowly position in history: losing to Jack asses.

The political process is a farce.
May have been true back in the day but now, campaining is done on social media and other media platforms.
Dont have to go to a rally to see or hear from candidates anymore.
Right now they mainly go to swing states with the most electoral vote numbers anyway.

Lets be clear. This is not the old days when Presidents had to travel by train, etc...to speak to the people in different states. We are in a whole different age now. You either agree with the policies of the candidate or you don't. Right now we have a president of South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Iowa, etc.......Do you think it's fair that these low population states have more power in Washington than the high population states?
One mans voice is still equal to one hundred. The electoral college is nothing new. Hilary chose to take Pennsylvania Michigan and Wisconsin for granted that was her fault, not the electoral college.

If campaigns were truly ran on social media and based on social media analytics Bernie Sanders will be the democratic candidate for president but social media is not real, it's not the real world and he's not the one that's running for president because in the real world the people chose somebody else. social media is just a vanity project.

wouldn't go quite that far. You can argue that Trump is president partly because he and his folks knew how to work social media better than Hillary. there were reports about how social media helped Obama get re-elected because his folks knew how to utilize better than Romey.

As of this era, social media is a powerful marketing tool (not the only tool).

You miss my entire point and cleverly left out where i said "other media platforms"
When the electoral college was put in effect, did they have tv,radio or media platforms via internet? No.
In order for the people to see or hear a candidate they had to physically travel to each state, city, town or county to be seen and heard.
Not the case now.
Electoral college is not needed for each individual voter to have a say.

I am very surprised it was unanimous also they need to get rid of electoral college anyway in the future but this is very interesting. Also this is telling me that the powers that be is sick of Trump.
Exactly, this ruling basically says that the Electoral College has past it's usefulness. The next Congress should strike while the iron is hot and make the EC meaningless.

The Congress cannot get rid of the electoral college. It has to be done constitutionally, and good luck with that.

I wonder if the conservative justices have realized they are on the wrong side of history.

Well, technically I said make it meaningless. That way it could still exist, but remove most of it's power ... but that will probably take a "constitutional act" of God too hunh.

You are correct but I have a feeling it’s going to happen in my lifetime as this country quickly changes also Trump may speed up things because of his shenanigans

The problem is that each state legislature would have to vote and you'd need 2/3 of the states to agree to the change. Those low population states (and that are the majority) will never vote to give up power.

Ok you totally deflected from what I stated in my point and skipped right over my question to you.
