I

It's Pimp C, Nipsey Hussle, Dolph, then Takeoff for me.

I'll never forget seeing that Pimp C thread on BGOL, stopped me in my tracks. I wanted it to not be true so bad.
Damn I forget Nip. Pimps death is suspect to me...he was about to unleash some truths bout them folks

Still don't give a nigga a right to kill him tho.

That's the problem, we're our own worst enemy with always looking to kill each other over some bullshit.
Didn't say he deserved. Bruh had a black wife and seeds. You'd think he'd move differently, now in interviews he avoided beef talk . Musically entirely different story

While it was clearly disrespectful given the families wishes, this is kind of needed. I doubt it will change anything but people need to understand that taking lives over dumbshit doesn't end with the person that is killed. The family grieving in private doesn't have the same impact. Without seeing those who are hurt, it makes it easier for people to continue the dumb shit or not care until the next event. Although this wasn't really related to music, hopefully it encourages artists to slow down with the overly violent content and stop bringing street culture into Hip-hop culture.

We see these types of events happening to regular people all the time and seemingly no one cares. People seem to be more sympathetic towards celebrities and Take Off was a bigger artist to my knowledge than most of the recent loses. Seeing the pain of his family and friends may start changes at least within the industry.

I was a kid so I don't really remember, but it seemed like things calmed down after the deaths of Big and Pac. At the very least, it was not necessarily marketed the same way from the hip-hop media as some felt they were somewhat responsible for blowing the event into a coast war. Maybe Take Offs death will have a similar impact.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it will never stop. It's the culture... It's the culture of being hard. Money, Ho's and Clothes was in the 90s...Now its AKs, Opps, and mumbling something over a nice "beat". Back in the 90s, there were collaborations between the likes of Jay-Z and Dr. Dre that also help calm thing down as far as East Coast/ West Coast beefs. "Check in when you come to my city"... Then you add social media in the play, and "youngins" get caught in their feelings. :(

We take death too lightly. The old I get the more appreciation for life. Takeoff is gone forever. Not only is he not going to experience any more life, but his family and friends will never experience him alive ever again. His kids won’t have their father anymore. He will be a memory to all that love him. When you really think about death and the FULL impact, it reduces the appetite for revenge. Revenge by death punishes the love ones of the victim. They experience the same evil that delivered the grief to you.

Fans, family members, and fellow celebrities gathered to honor Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, at his funeral at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Friday. The Migos rapper was fatally shot on November 1 at age 28. His memorial service, which was free and open to the public, featured speeches from his bandmates, Quavo and Offset. Although attendees were asked not to use their phones, short clips have circulated online of Quavo remembering his nephew and Offset praising his once-removed cousin’s flow. Drake, who previously toured with the Migos, also took the stage to speak about his late friend. The service was billed as a celebration of life, and included musical performances from Chlöe Bailey, Justin Bieber, Yolanda Adams, and Byron Cage. During the ceremony, Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens presented Takeoff’s family with the Phoenix Award, the city’s highest honor. According to a release, many celebrities came to the service to pay their respects, including Gucci Mane, Cardi B, City Girls, YG, Lil Yachty, Cee-Lo Green, Teyana Taylor, Rich the Kid, Russell Simmons, Murda Beatz, and Mustard. In lieu of flowers, mourners have been asked to donate to the Rocket Foundation, a nonprofit established in Takeoff’s honor that will work to prevent gun violence.
In addition to his memorial speech, Quavo posted a statement to Instagram Saturday morning to memorialize his nephew. He remembered what it was like growing up with Takeoff and how they were “always on the same team.” The rapper recalled his nephew’s sense of humor and his quiet but powerful demeanor. He also shared that it was Takeoff’s idea to start making music. “Throughout this whole time he had a REAL passion for music,” remembered Quavo. “It was HIS dream to become a rapper cuz I didn’t kno what I wanted to do… Then he created this triplet flow and the rest was history.”
