The ban was to keep the app out of US app stores (Android and Apple)

ByteDance stop operations on the app to sway the public in their favor.....

Again, the bam only effected the availability of the app (and updates) in appstores......

"The law signed in April mandates a ban on new TikTok downloads on Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab or Google (GOOGL.O), opens new tab app stores if Chinese parent ByteDance fails to divest the site.

Users who have downloaded TikTok would theoretically still be able to use the app, except that the law also bars U.S. companies starting Sunday from providing services to enable the distribution, maintenance, or updating of it."

Ask most people to leave their careers after 15 yrs and start new at another one with less money or less power and see how fast they do it.. well these influencers put in mad work to get their followings, create vids, etc..to tell them to start fresh on a diff platform where they might not get the same amount of people , might not make the same amount of money, and have less clout would more likely make them feel a certain way.. watching your house burn and than someone to tell you to build a new one from scratch is easier said than done… now if they were on multiple platforms prior and making sure they each one was getting properly pushed would be easier

True... I'm aware of all that.

and your right all this should gave been resolved sooner but the litigation was a monster.

I'm not a TikTok person and keep my kids off it cause everything I've heard is bad. I even knew an executive in contact control over there. And nothing she said changed my mind.

This is the same excuse we hear for people not leaving Twitter etc.

I get it but like anything if you really about it? You would do it. Many have. But i understand it ain't easy at all especially how you broke it done.

I think personal and national security is more important in the long run.

It is a security and data risk masked as a SM app.

And for these "influencers" to respond how they have is truly idiocracy.

I hear ya about the security and data risk but at the sametime a foreign competitor to American formats also might be part of the tik tok hatred.. I mean we got a lot of American shit that’s had problems and done bullshit Facebook, apple, etc the thing is they are American companies so their scrutiny isn’t giving out as much.. so I wonder if TikTok was an American white/jew brand would we hear all this anti shit towards it… I don’t have the app and just recently started posting a few of their vids in diff threads that I have like the nyc food scene and maybe a few chick post but that’s pretty much the minimum usage it has gotten out of me in a yr or 2.

I hear you but there reports that show AMERICAN TikTok is nothing like the other TikTok

American version is more negative and filled with misinformation the content is overall trashy as opposed to the more positive uplifting educational accurate informative with time limits

Then add the security issues.

And all these apps are stealing our info

But TikTok was APPARENTLY hiding it and we know China is going to weaponize it.

Yeah the American version wasn’t great from what I hear but also like I said when people want to demonize something they will push a negative narrative.. think of the ny cab companies when they were trying to demonize Lyft/uber when it was cutting into their pockets or the hotel biz when they were trying to demonize air bnb when it was cutting into their funds.. like I said there’s always another story when it comes to big biz companies in this capitalistic country, my observation is they are willing to have TikTok in the us if somehow it was bought by an American company, that raises a red flag right there, if it’s so bad why were you still willing to keep it alive if it was sold off to an American company.. it’s these things that always make me look at stories sideways especially when big bizz is involved
