Sounds like an indictment on Derrick James if it really went down like that...if true, it also means far from underestimating Crawford, Spence might have ended up overtraining because of the task he knew he had in front of him
Yeah…I like this take. I didn’t know what was off, and giving Bud ALL the credit, but this it what it may have been. He may have overtrained. I believe that is the most plausible explanation that resonates with me.

He didn’t seem tired, but his movements looked like labor…if that makes sense.

He looked slow as shit. Before the fight he was doing mitts with Derrick James and looked off balance when James caught him with a right. That being said there definitely was enough there for me to think Bud has his number even if he is 100% but that doesn't mean something wasn't off. If Bud is the better boxer with the higher IQ and is more adaptable and now we find out he was stronger (and will probably be at least as strong as Spence if Spence isn't weight drained), well, I am not sure what Spence can do. Strength is usually the way out for the less talented fighter but if the more talented guy is at least equal in terms of strength, then that sounds like a mission impossible situation.

Spence’s talent is that he is a weight bully with stamina and an excellent jab. At 147, he just was relentless and bullied cats (Danny Garcia or Kell Brook). Ninja just kept coming at cats.

He had a layoff, got older and probably overtrained. His body couldn’t keep going from 180 to 147 back to 165 a day later.

Problem is…he ran into a smarter, more talented, stronger, disciplined and durable boxer. 154 ain’t changing shit, because Bud had to come down in weight as well.

There are levels and Errol met someone that was better. Hell, look at Crawford’s camp and Spence’s camp. Crawford had a damn precise operation. Errol was training in a converted warehouse with no air conditioning. That shit ain’t no badge of honor, shit came off as underprepared

Bruh people have more excuses that Spence. I'm a Spence fan but I give Bud his props. Now he better stay away from 168 but Spence needs to fight Broner and they both retire
