They're rebooting the franchise into three movies....

They moved away from Space after the first season, but if you have Netflix I strongly suggest binge watching "The 100"... just like most Scifi it has to find it way with the first 3 episodes but it is fucking crack rock after that. It is easily the best science fiction show on right now. I can't count Mr. Robot, because it isn't really science fiction.

Then SyFy has truly reached a sad state if "The 100" is the best of the group. I think I saw season 1. It's an okay show but should never been in the category of "best" in that genre on TV.
Then again i have very strong sticking points for science fiction based points....Make me believe in the science!

SG: Universe should never have been cancelled. That show had mad potential. Being "dark, but still PG-13" on SyFy rather than uncensored on Showtime or HBO is why it couldn't hold its own.

It is easily the best scifi show. Season 1 was just a tease. Like you I'm also extremely hard on science fiction shows. Hell the only reason why I even paid attention to the first couple episodes was because it had my boy Desmond from lost on it... But as soon as they showed a 8 or 9 year old kid straight up merk a guy and then commit suicide at the end I was hooked. This show stands on its own. Every single person that I have told to binge watch both seasons have come back to me saying the same thing... The fucking show is the truth.

dark matter is not garbage. i like it better than battlestar actually.

I remember when that came out my entire department was interested. We all bad mouthed that crap. Felt like a scifi show made for teens. I didn't watch it long enough to think it was garbage but I along with many others felt it was just really for kids in high school or something. Just made no sense.

OK, I'll give a POSSIBLE thumbs up to the first half of season 2.
But by then the plot had split off into so many fragments, that it seemed like the writers couldn't agree on where the story line should go next and were just like "Fuck it. Let's do EVERYTHING and see what sticks and what doesn't."
The only reason I kept watching was because I liked the way the adults showed up like "Good job, kids. We'll take it from here."
And EVERYBODY, including the enemy were like "We only fuck with Clark, fall back, bitch."
Better than Battlestar? come on man.
battlestar was overrated IMO. and that lame ass intro cut out the first 15 mins, and they gave away half the show in the opening. didn't care for any of the characters, only starbuck had personality worth seeing. the whole crew bitchmade anyway, always on the run. it was a C, C+ show for me.
dark matter is way more fun, and theres actually a brother in space. And the personality differences are greater.
Battlestar had the better overall message, and was more complex, but that doesn't mean better television. It's like Gza vs Method - Method will always sell more.
I felt the same way... Then i binge watched it and got hooked. The show is addictive and gets extremely dark.

actually Ascension WAS set up to be an ongoing series..but after the(very) bad reviews and ratings it got after the first episode Syfy changed their minds
I actually read the series of books The Expanse is based on and it was great scifi reading, hopefully the show can live up to it.
Saw the pilot last night, not too bad, but it should of been longer to properly introduce the characters imo.
