They did a pretty good job with season one all things considered, enjoyed my second watch a lot more but this sounds like bs, her physicality is indeed important to her character and not just on a gameplay level

For one it speaks to her determination and single minded goal of getting revenge against_____
She's turned her back in any semblance of a normal life to become a peak killing machine and is supposed to feel like an insurmountable challenge for Ellie and that's just a small part of how her size and fitness play into the story. This is a cop out.
.but I'll give them a chance.
Maybe they shouldve gotten a WWE wrestler to play Abby..imagine how,say,Zoey Stark or Bayley wouldve done
I know now that it's best to wait for the entire season to air before starting to watch.

I guess if you’ve never played the game, the adaptation was good, but having played the game and watched the HBO series, I’d rate it a 5 at best.

I am of the people that has not played the game for this series and other recent TV adaptations of video game.
I haven’t touched a video game system since the first edition of Nintendo released back in the mid 80s.
I’m of the people who go into these series adaptations blind and watch/enjoy them for what they are…Entertainment.
My vidgame system playing is after yours.. last purchase a Sega Saturn.. last really playing was probably early 2000 when me and my cuz would play 2k bball but pretty much after that I pretty much haven’t played and I also go into these game adaptations series with a blind eye.. other than the all out queer episode enjoyed the first season
