I support Mike Tomlin. I don’t like the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I am cool with Mike. The Pittsburgh Steelers just hit a wall right now. They are still a decent team, but they better get their selves straight because the playoffs is coming up fast. Wilson needs to remember he’s 35 years old. He is not 30 or 25 years old anymore certain things he just can’t do right now.

T.J. Watt named Steelers MVP for a franchise record fifth time

For the fifth time in the past six seasons, Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt has been named team MVP in a vote by his teammates.

Watt became the first player in franchise history to earn team MVP five times. Watt had been tied with former Steelers receiver Antonio Brown with four.

“It’s awesome,” Watt said following Wednesday’s practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. “It’s an honor I don’t take lightly. It matters most to the guys who see what I do each and every day and to have it come from them means a lot to me.”

Watt won three consecutive team MVP awards from 2019-2021 as well as last season. The only season this decade he did not win was 2022 when he missed seven games with a torn pectoral muscle. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick won that year.

Watt this season has 11½ sacks and an NFL-high six forced fumbles. Of his 40 solo tackles, 19 of them have been for losses, and he has 27 quarterback hits.

Watt is in line for a few individual awards in the coming weeks. The Associated Press will announce its All-Pro teams next Friday, and Watt has a chance to earn first-team All-Pro for the fifth time. He also is expected to be named to the Pro Bowl for a seventh consecutive season.

Watt is currently the betting favorite for NFL defensive player of the year, too. Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain and Browns defensive end Myles Garrett are the other main contenders for defensive player of the year.

Watt won defensive player of the year in 2021 and came in second in the voting twice – in 2020 and 2023.
