'In Living Color' revived by Fox
Fox is bringing back early 1990s sketch comedy series In Living Color — with original producer Keenen Ivory Wayans as host and executive producer. The network has ordered two half-hour primetime specials that will air in midseason, Deadline first reported, with an option for a series order if the episodes perform strong.
Fox getting back into the sketch comedy game is definitely interesting, and Color was a ground-breaking show — countering NBC’s East Coast college frat-friendly humor on Saturday Night Live with a more diverse and raunchy style that helped define Fox’s early years. Moreover, Color helped launch the careers of the Wayans brothers, as well as Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx — plus Jennifer Lopez, who was one of the show’s “fly girl” dancers.
