black widow solo movie would've tanked. she has no significant arch nemesis and not too much to go on for a workable story.
if marvel wants a successful female lead movie we're going to have to wait for captain marvel and then other movies that would do go for marvel/disney
moon girl and devil dinosaur (i have a funny feeling we'll be seeing a disney animated version of this though it's been real successful)
iron heart (perfect choice if iron man is the one to die at the end of the second avengers movie)
or another big marvel success ms. marvel
better yet if marvel's phase 4 circled the champions (including iron heart) as a their existing title or as young avengers they'd have another goldmine
Because Marvel has a plan and vision and they are sticking to it. Rushing a Black Widow movie just to complete with Wonder Woman is not in Marvel's plan.
Their plan has been... is to make Captian Marvel Marvel's Wonder Woman and and a household name like Guardians of the Galaxy.
They have been laying the ground work for years in the comics from the Mighty Avengers to Civil War II...
They renamed and redesigned her in the comics...
They made her basically 3rd in charge of the Avengers behind Ironman and Captian America...
If she gets the Guardians of the Galaxy mixed with some Winter Soldier military background treatment...it'll be a home run...

it is a testament to Marvel's brilliance that they were able to pull that off.
black wido and hawkeye work because they are support cast. everyone else has specific abilities which can put them in the spotlight. those two do not.

They been running the Thor previews since like May so it looks like that paid off. ...and they played up the comedy angle which is a little different.
I think jigsaw is fine if it makes 60+ mil domestic. There will probably be another (haven't seen it so I don't know if shit got ended for good).

Forget a stand alone Black Widow, her story isn't interesting enough to fill 100+ minutes. But more to the point - who would be her adversary(s)? Anyone with powers would kill her immediately. The movie would require SJ (she don't like ScarJo) to be out of the catsuit for long periods of time. Boooooring.
Villains are what separates a good movie from a really good movie. Especially if the villain is a superior actor. Think about the actors who have been villains in the MCU.

But now that she and Banner are getting close, there could be something there for another Hulk movie. Especially since he talks now. Phase IV I wonder who the new Hulk and Widow would be? Hmmm.
