We went last year in October. The weather was great and the crowds were bearable. My kid was one at the time so we went to Animal Kingdom twice, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot.

In hindsight we should of just gone to Animal Kingdom.

One of my long term goals is to buy a condo in the Orlando area. To AirB&B it in the high season and enjoy the parks in late fall and winter.

That's nice but I hate when people don't respect your property and treat it like a rental car.

took my kids twice in 94 then 98 both for a week at a time. had time share back then so it was really about just paying for everything else. always bought the week park hopper pass... always dreaded it because always had to drive the trip from ohio to florida since my first wife would not fly... but it was worth it when u see a 3 year old run up to mickey mouse and hug them like they weren't letting go, lol

Thanks for this thread. However, I aint reading all that shit.

1. Disney Land and Disney World are 2 totally different experiences!
Disney Land is the original park with the Magic Kingdom and the iconic Castle. It is in California.
Disney World is in Florida it is MUCH BIGGER. You cannot see everything in Disney World in 1 day.

2. Because of long as LINES, you might be able to go on 4 rides in a normal day.

3. Bring water and your own snacks and food! Food and drink is super expensive.

4. Try looking for corporate discounts. Ask your HR or look into AAA anything, search for those friggin discounts.

Went last year to both waterparks in Disneyworld. Was fun as hell. Uber driver hipped us to some good stuff of when to go. If you can, go in September during the week. Best time. Kids are back in school and the park prices are cut in half. Not cowded either. If you wanna do both waterparks which I suggest keep in mind they are about 20 minutes apart. You can't walk to each. They do have busses but fuck dem busses catch an Uber. Also if you go in the Summer be prepared to see a ton of Australians down there. It's winter over there so it seems like they all fuckin come over here. I mean a shit load of them. They was cool though. I Ralph Macchio'ed one of them right in the fuckin face on in the wave pool by accident. Was cool as shit. I mean I Mortal Kombat'ed dat pussy when the waves took me up. That wave pool is serious too if you can't swim don't fuck with it.

I've been to Disney World 4 times since 2015.....and Disney Land once in 2017.
Don't park hop if u plan on going to Magic Kingdom....it will take u the entire day to experience the entire park. Try to get there when they first open....that way u don't have to worry about long lines and shit. If u try to show up at noon or 1.....get ready for 2 hour waits for each ride. U can get thru 8 or 9 rides in that span if u are there when the gates open. Bring portable charge packs for your phone.
Parking is not so bad but Florida residents get a discount on parking.
I suggest u park hop on the days u visit Universal Studios and Island of Adventure. City Walk is also hella nice and it's free an connects both parks.
I was able to do those 3 as well as downtown Disney on the same day.
I was at Universal when the gates opened. U don't really have to worry about that at downtown Disney. Traffic is not that bad and parking is free.

Disney World increases ticket prices for second time in a year

(CNN) — If you're planning on going to Walt Disney World in 2023, you can still buy next year's tickets at current rates until December 8. That's when prices on most ticket types will be increasing, including single-day tickets, multi-day passes and annual pass renewals.
The company's flagship resort in Orlando, Florida, already hiked up ticket prices in February, making this the second time in a calendar year that entry into the "most magical place on earth" has become more expensive.
A Disney spokesperson said that this is driven by continued strong demand and significant investment across the company's theme parks in recent years.

The current price for a one-day, one-park ticket is between $109 and $159, depending on demand. But starting December 8, that range will now also depend on the park you choose to visit. Three out of the four theme parks will be more expensive to visit, with Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios both seeing more than a 12% increase.
As of December 8, one-day, one-park tickets will be:
Disney's Animal Kingdom: $109-$159 (same range as today)

Disney's Hollywood Studios: $124-$179
EPCOT: $114-$179
Magic Kingdom Park: $124-$189
Those who purchase such single-day tickets, without a park hopper, will no longer have to make a park reservation for that day. Park reservations are still required for all other ticket types.

Some recent Disney price hikes outpace inflation. But the crowds keep coming for now
Varying ticket prices
Disney notes that the high end of the one-day, one-park ticket, $189, applies to only Magic Kingdom for nine days around the week of Christmas to New Year's when crowds are highest. Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme park in the world and the most popular of the four parks at Walt Disney World.
Currently, park reservations for Magic Kingdom are no longer available for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve in 2022.
Don Munsil, president and co-owner of Mouse Savers Inc., a website that tracks discounts and prices at Disney parks, said Disney's Hollywood Studios is the next most popular park, in large part because of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.
He said this price change by park is about demand management.
"Their bottleneck is often the Magic Kingdom. Lots of people want to come to the Magic Kingdom. And Disney would really like to get people to spread out and try the other parks. And they've tried keeping the prices the same as a way of sort of signaling that they're all just as good. But I don't think anyone has ever bought that idea," he said.
Munsil said perhaps lower single-day prices at other parks will draw people to them.
Prices will also increase for multi-day tickets, but a Disney spokesperson did not offer specific price details.
"We continue to focus on providing guests with the best, most memorable Disney experience, and we're doing that by growing our theme parks with incredible new attractions and offerings," the spokesperson said.
"We are also making planning easier with new 1-day tickets that automatically include a guest's theme park reservation and continue to provide a wide range of options to visit throughout the year, including our lowest priced ticket of $109 which has not changed in more than four years."
The $109 ticket applies to only Animal Kingdom and will be available on 20 days out of the year, during a lower-crowd season. These tickets are mostly available on weekdays in late August and September.
Those who want to hop between parks in the same day will also see the "park hopper" price vary by date. Effective December 8, there will be some dates where park hoppers will remain $65, but other dates will see higher rates.
Annual pass prices rise
Prices for most of Walt Disney World's annual pass renewals are also going up. Effective December 8, three of Walt Disney World's four annual passes, which are currently only available for renewal, will increase in price by up to $100.
The price of the Disney Pixie Dust Pass will remain the same: $399. New sales are currently possible for the Pixie Dust Pass.
New sales are paused for Incredi-Pass, Sorcerer Pass and Pirate Pass. But prices are going up as follows: Incredi-Pass will go up by $100 to $1,399; Sorcerer will increase by $70 to $969 ; and the Pirate pass will go up by $50 to $749. Renewal prices on these passes are offered at a discount.
Tom Bricker, co-founder of DisneyTouristBlog.com, said Disney World fans are "increasingly disillusioned with ever-increasing prices coupled with cost-cutting measures and myriad ways in which the company has made visiting its parks more tedious.
"However, pent-up demand remains strong and the parks are crowded, for now. Already, investors and analysts have questioned how Disney will adjust to a recession or economic downturn. In that event, it remains to be seen whether Disney will be able to pivot and maintain strong numbers, or if the higher prices and assorted frustrations are alienating lifelong fans and causing irreparable brand damage."
Changes to dining reservations
The resort has also updated its dining reservations policy, effective immediately. Reservations can now be canceled up to two hours in advance of the reservation time without a cancellation fee, with the exception of three locations. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, Victoria and Albert's and Monsieur Paul will keep the policy of no-penalty cancellations up to 24 hours in advance.

Disneyland in Anaheim, California, has similar changes planned for dining reservations.
"Disneyland Resort plans to update our dining reservation policy to allow for same-day cancellations later this month," Disneyland officials said, also allowing cancellations up to two hours in advance.
But unlike Walt Disney World in Florida, the California resort will still require park reservations for all ticket holders, and it will be keeping a flat rate of $65 to hop between parks.
Disneyland already saw price increases in October for busier-season admission and amenities like hotel valet parking.
At that time, both resorts increased prices for the Genie+ skip-the-line service and merchandise like custom-built light sabers and droids, among other things. Disney World also bumped up prices of hundreds of food items.
Disney has invested more than $31 billion in new guest experiences in the past decade.
In an earnings report earlier this month, Disney reported $7.4 billion in worldwide parks revenue, a 36% boost from last year. Higher crowds and higher spending per guest drove that revenue, according to the report. It stated that growth in guest spending was due in part to the introduction of the paid Genie+ skip the line service.

How to Skip The Lines At Disney World (and Still Ride Everything)

After almost 30 trips over the past 30 years, I’ve finally figured out how to skip the lines at Disney World.

I love riding all of the incredible attractions at Walt Disney World… but I hate waiting in line.
In this post I’ll share my strategies for avoiding long waits at Disney World, so you can spend your vacation enjoying all the parks have to offer instead of waiting in line.
#1) Use a Crowd Calendar to Plan Your Park Days

No matter what time of year you visit, there will be crowds at Disney World.
It is the world’s #1 vacation destination, so there are always thousands of people at the theme parks. The key to having the best possible vacation experience is to avoid these crowds as much as possible!
Luckily, some wise folks have figured out crowd patterns for you. I regularly use a free crowd calendar that shows recommended parks to visit and parks to avoid for each day of the year, such as this one published by Undercover Tourist.

My goal on every trip is to visit only recommended parks each day. This is particularly important at Magic Kingdom, the smallest and most popular park.
For example, Magic Kingdom is particularly crowded on Mondays and Saturdays. These are the most common days of the week for folks to start their vacations, and most folks want to visit the Magic Kingdom first. So I try to always avoid MK on these days of the week!
Here is an example of how powerful the crowd calendars are. Against my better judgment, we went to Disney World over Christmas about five years ago to celebrate my birthday (I was born on Christmas day). Christmas is likely the busiest day of the whole year at Disney World.
Using the crowd calendar as our guide, we visited the recommended park, Animal Kingdom, on Christmas Day and were shocked to discover a practically empty park! We rode all the attractions with little wait and roamed freely around the park – on the busiest day of the year.
That same day Magic Kingdom was filled to capacity and had to close its gates around noon. So do not underestimate how much using a crowd calendar can affect the quality of your vacation experience!

If you want a detailed step-by-step plan that will save you hours in line, then I strongly suggest a TouringPlans subscription – get the details here!
#2) Take Full Advantage of the Lightning Lanes & Virtual Queue

Disney Genie+ and the Lightning lanes are a great way to shorten your time in line.
But you have to know how to use them to get your money’s worth out of them!
Check out my ultimate guide to Disney Genie Plus and the Individual Lightning Lanes here!
Also, be sure to check out this guide on how to use the FREE Disney World Virtual Queue system to ride the newest attraction.
3) Get to the Parks Early (Sorry, It’s True)

You’ve likely heard the advice to get to the theme parks early to avoid long lines. Maybe you are hoping this actually isn’t true, and there’s no reason to set your alarm on your much-needed vacation.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but getting to the parks before they open is likely the single best way to avoid long waits at Disney World!
Most people like to sleep in on vacation. I would estimate that the vast majority of people arrive at the theme parks after 10 am.
Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom

If you can manage to be in the theme parks during the first hour they are open, you will be able to ride many attractions with little to no wait.
On regular days, the published opening time for the parks is 9 am. However, parks other than the Magic Kingdom have been known to open before the posted opening time.
As an example, when I visited Epcot recently we were let in at 8:40 am when the park supposedly opened at 9 am. We were on and off of Frozen Ever After by 9:10 am!
Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom opens an hour before the published opening time every day, so that gives you time to grab some coffee and a treat at the Main Street Bakery.
Lots of folks ask me about Extra Magic Hours, too. Every day the theme parks open 30 minutes early for Disney resort guests.
During these times, only guests who are staying at an on-site, Disney-owned resort can enter the park.
Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom

My family has had so much fun during morning early entry, especially at Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. We have ridden Expedition Everest five times in a row with no wait and had our pick of any ride at Magic Kingdom!
We often just visit the parks in the morning, head back to our resort for a nap/swim, then eat dinner at one of the resort hotels.
We can still get a solid four hours in at the parks and enjoy them when they are the least crowded!

4) Take Your Vacation During Off-Peak Times of Year

My last tip for avoiding long waits at Disney World is to plan your visit during a less-crowded time of year. While Disney has recently made efforts to distribute crowds more evenly throughout the year, there are still certain times of year that are less crowded than others.
You can get my picks for the best time to go to Disney World in this post. I’ll share the less-crowded times of year to visit the parks below but be warned: they all take place when kids are traditionally in school.

Now I will tell you what I told my students and their families if they informed me they would be missing a week of school to visit Disney World (I was a public school teacher for 10 years): Your kids will learn far more during a week at Disney World than they would have in school that week.
Blasphemous, right? But honestly, your kids will get SO MUCH out of a trip to Disney World in terms of new knowledge and life experience.
It is the best possible learning situation for them, so please don’t feel bad or hesitate to take your kids out of school to travel to Disney. Just ignore anyone who says otherwise and send them my way for convincing. ?
So here are the overall less-crowded times of the year at Disney World:
  • January (except for marathon weekend)
  • February (except for President’s Day weekend)
  • September
  • After Easter until Memorial Day
  • After Thanksgiving until mid-December (though this time gets busier every year due to promotions Disney has been running)
If you visit during these times of the year and use the other strategies I mentioned above, you can easily ride every attraction you want to at Disney World and never wait for more than 10 minutes.
