Mother-friend gossip chain prompts FBI to identify US Capitol riot defendant

(CNN) A New Jersey man is facing charges for taking part in the US Capitol insurrection after family friends gossiped that he was at the pro-Trump riot.

The mother of Robert Petrosh Jr., of Mays Landing had told a woman with whom she was good friends that Petrosh went inside the Capitol on January 6, according to his arrest paperwork made public this week.

A grandchild of the family friend then reported Petrosh to the FBI on January 17, the document said.

Petrosh is just one in a long line of alleged Capitol rioters whom friends, family members, coworkers and ex-partners have reported to federal authorities during the months-long dragnet.

The FBI was able to identify Petrosh inside the Capitol in a photo and in surveillance video, an agent wrote to a federal judge. Another tipster and an FBI officer who had known Petrosh socially also helped identify him.

The charges he faces are of a less serious variety compared to many of the Capitol riot cases. Petrosh is charged in a complaint in DC's federal court with four counts related to being on the restricted Capitol grounds and in the building on January 6.

More than 400 alleged rioters are facing federal criminal charges connected to the insurrection.

Petrosh was arrested in New Jersey and was released by a judge on Tuesday on a $50,000 unsecured bond, according to court records. He's set for a next court appearance in Washington, DC, next week. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

Like I said earlier.

These fools are in panic mode.

They will be coming out with some crazy excuses to justify being at the Capitol.

Don’t be surprised when they start blaming a full moon, Marvel MCU and Dark Knight movies, Obama and internet porn on why they went to the Capitol that day.

The reason the Rupubs are trying to change the voter laws is cause they know shit is about to go side ways for them. 458 of these dumb fucks have been arrested and charged so far and they are still hunting them down. They even have family turn on them. Wednesdays vote oust Chaney might come back and bite them in the ass later and believe me The Turtle(Mitch) is next.

Voting ain't important though. They are just trying to cheat for no reason.

Mitt Romney reportedly accosted Josh Hawley over the Capitol riot: 'You have caused this'

Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah exploded at Sen. Josh Hawley over the January 6 Capitol insurrection, The Washington Post reported. He's said to have told Hawley, "You have caused this!"

The Post, citing sources familiar with the exchange, reported on the Romney-Hawley confrontation in a lengthy profile of the Missouri senator published on Monday.

The newspaper said that as senators were rushed out of the Capitol and into a secure location, "Hawley remained combative in pushing the very falsehoods that had helped stoke the violence," which prompted Romney's rebuke.

The normally mild-mannered and affable Romney also shouted "this is what you've gotten" at his Republican colleagues during the chaos of the siege on the Capitol, The New York Times reported.

Hawley generated significant controversy with his plan to sign on to an official objection to Congress counting Pennsylvania's 20 Electoral College votes for President-elect Joe Biden. He followed through with this move when senators were able to return to the Capitol after it had been secured by law enforcement.

Under the parameters of the Electoral Count Act of 1887, each chamber must split up to debate an Electoral College objection for a maximum of two hours. This meant that Congress debated the Pennsylvania objection into the wee hours of January 7 after being able to return to the Capitol. Hawley specifically took issue with a law passed by the state's GOP-controlled Legislature that allowed people to vote by mail without an excuse.

The Missouri senator has condemned the riot at the Capitol and distanced himself from the insurrectionists' actions on multiple occasions. But critics say Hawley casting doubt on the integrity of the 2020 election elevated the baseless claims of voter fraud that led to the insurrection.

Hawley's actions around the riots led to some of his most prominent mentors, including former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, publicly disavowing him and saying that they regretted their roles in his political rise. Another one of Hawley's Republican colleagues, Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, said bringing the objections was "a really dumbass idea."

Republican Lawmakers Claim January 6 Rioters Were Just Friendly Guys and Gals Taking a Tourist Trip Through the Capitol

Hey, remember that January 6 attack on the Capitol? Was incited by Donald Trump, who sicced his supporters on the building in the hopes that they would overturn the 2020 election? Involved rioters savagely beating officers and chanting “hang Mike Pence”? Left multiple people dead, more than 100 injured, and caused depression and PTSD among law enforcement who were there, to say nothing of the ones who later committed suicide? Republican lawmakers claim to remember it but their memories appear to have taken a stop at Delusionville on the way to What the Actual Fuck Are You Talking About Town.

During a Wednesday hearing of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, many GOP lawmakers proudly rewrote history as part of the party’s official policy of blatantly lying about easily fact-checkable matters, especially ones that could make Trump look bad. Rep. Paul Gosar—a 2020 election truther whose own family members endorsed his opponent and appeared in an ad begging people not to vote for him—called the individuals who violently broke into the Capitol “peaceful patriots” and claimed that the Department of Justice is “harassing“ them. Amazingly, Gosar, who has described Joe Biden as an “illegitimate usurper,” claimed that “outright propaganda and lies are being used to unleash the national security state against law-abiding U.S. citizens, especially Trump voters.” He also described the killing of Ashli Babbitt, a Trump supporter who was shot by the Capitol Police while trying to break through the chamber as an “execut[ion].”

Then there was Rep. Ralph Norman who, like colleagues before him, cast doubt on the fact that the crowd that attacked the building was actually made up of Trump supporters, despite the fact that Trump had invited his supporters to D.C. for his “Stop the Steal” rally and then literally told them to march to the Capitol. (Also, there’s the minor matter of the fact that many people said they were acting on Trump’s orders.)

The most absurd statement, however, came from Rep. Andrew Clyde who said, out loud, in public: “Let me be clear, there was no insurrection and to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie. Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January 6, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit.”

Yes, just a normal tourist visit if normal tourist visits involve zip tie-toting tourists dragging officers down steps; shocking them with stun guns; smashing their heads with baseball bats, pipes, and flag poles; and causing concussions and at least one heart attack. Usually those sorts of tourists would be asked to leave the premises immediately by security, but apparently they’re alright in the f--ked-up alternative universe Clyde lives in.

Anyway, you might ask how people like Clyde sleep at night but the answer is obviously like an absolute baby—and not the kind that only lets his parents get two hours of shut-eye at a time, the kind that’s been sleep-trained and is out like a light from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.!

I'm a ROTC drop out, so help me understand. How is this fool not court-martialed? Did he take a different oath?

"We are now and always have been on our own. So glad he was able to pardon a bunch of degenerates as his last move and s--- on us on the way out," Nordean said in an expletive-laden message about the former president. "F--- you trump you left us on [t]he battle field bloody and alone."
If only other poor white trash would wake up and realize that this is how the rich white elite think about them.

American Insurrection (full documentary) | FRONTLINE
April 2021

FRONTLINE, ProPublica and UC Berkeley’s Investigative Reporting Program present “American Insurrection”: a timely, 90-minute documentary that probes the far-right groups and leaders responsible for the recent threats and violence.

I don't know if that guy was black or what I couldn't tell. When I was a kid we called people like him and The Rock, Tinaykin. That went for anyone you had to ask their ethnicity

I didn't like his whispery hushed voice. I hate how Black people have to look or sound less threatening to white people. And black people do it so often taking the bass out of their voice when they speak to white people

Other than that it was a good documentary
