cause what you're describing as her gist isn't at all what she said. If she meant one thing and said another, that's fine. ....but is it wrong to point out that the words that came out of her mouth were wrong?
like think of it this way.... if she instead had said "if there were no black men in Newark, NJ, violent crime in Newark would be non-existent" ...it too would be a patently false statement. Would it matter that the gist of her argument may have been the fact that if there were no black men in Newark, violent crime numbers would no doubt be lower (you'd be removing a huge part of the population so of course the numbers would be lower)? Would her statement still be ok?
