TV Discussion: Black Mirror first look at mysterious season 5: Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II face off UPDATE: Season 7!

Look I'm grown

I UNDERSTAND the episode (it was implied that i did not since i didnt give it rave reviews)

But it didn't strike a nerve or its not because I'm homophobic

They could have made it just as impactful without that.

Why can't the black actors get the OTHER ROLES?

Can we the president, the Captain of the enterprise, etc please

And yeah i can see easily why a black woman would be offended by that.

She just wanted the baby, black wonen are pushy, needy, he couldnt be HIMSELF with his wife etc.

after reading these comments...I ain't watching this episode.

Can someone tell me what this episode is about and the ending.

these comments have me saying..."I can't get jiggy with this shit"

You can watch it.

Form your own opinion and we can all discuss.

Its just not what i expected and then became EXACTLY what i expected in the worst way possible

And I'm still not saying it was bad.

since this #metoo thing I think there is a SERIOUS divide within women

particularly Black women

who are stuck between old and new identities of womanhood

when Jemele retweeted the whole elevator thing...MANY women were happy she spoke

and I was too because I think we as men DO have to see things from different perspectives.

but the thing is there a generation of Black men who don't necessarily need to be "woken up"

WE KNEW this.

We have sisters mothers girlfriends cousins WOMEN FRIENDS

we KNOW this.

and we are MINDFUL of it.

But we never felt the need to become VOCAL ADVOCATES talking about it.

Just BEING about it

and so I think when the whole attack on Black male masculinity started...

THOSE women?

Our mothers aunts sisters girlfriends etc?

They KNEW US

and of course DEFENDED us against all this.

And somehow then THEY got attacked.

And subsequently I believe now THEIR prospective of the black Male Experience changed

NOT SAYING THEY AIN'T ALWAYS SUPPORT US

But I think things WE as Black men always said about media etc?

They REALLY saw being played out. (AGAIN)

One of my wife's best friends is gay and used to love to tell stories of how much he liked to screw with straight men...

something you will notice that gay groups ALWAYS DENY.

So the MINUTE she saw where this was going she started tensing up

like of COURSE they would make Black men do this episode.

She said I think it would have MORE deep if they used ASIAN men

since THEIR sexuality and masculinity is ALWAYS marginalized by white media.

And how Asian culture fetishes this stuff in REAL LIFE.

She was like now THAT would be interesting.

And let me clear the whole idea of emotional cheating vs actual cheating is DEEP and ripe for this.

Avatars, Black Male masculinity etc..

But this wasn't that

If I was gay I would be kinda offended too.

Cause these 2 dudes?

They were gay. Ain't nothing WRONG with that.

Besides the fact that he was being a liar and duplicitous and disingenuous and emotionally abusive.

He's not by today's rules.

damn.

ok yes hetero normative cis straight yeah yeah I get it.

OK fine.

Its a wonderful love story our generations Brokeback Mountain 2.0

still didn't buy a MINUTE of it.

and my issue is this..

right till the END

it was false.

the whole well if i a female avatar we aint REALLY gay thing.

I'm all for no labels.. but the labels they ARE using aint so good.

he still in denial and HIDING who he is.

They're arguing it is different because in real life it wasn't like that

Only one of them is lying and that's Karl

Karl is in denial

Karl was talking about the orchestra of a women's body

he actually had virtual sex with ANOTHER guy and LIKED it.

he KNEW

To me its almost a prison thing.

Or like that Wayan's joke "I ain't gay. I let you suck my d*ck."

It seemed like a high tech down low situation.

Because the if we go by your breakdown

does the WIFE KNOW Karl is in denial?
