A great, big, bloody Walking Dead family reunion is coming to Amazon Studios' Invincible, the upcoming adult animated superhero series based on Robert Kirkman's brutal comics of the same name.
Kirkman, who executive produces AMC's zombie drama, announced during a Friday Comic-Con panel that Lauren Cohan, Lennie James, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, Ross Marquand, and Sonequa Martin-Green will join the voice cast. Keep in mind, this is in addition to the previously cast Walking Dead stars Khary Payton and Steven Yeun who will voice roles.
Invincible centers on Mark Grayson (Yeun), a.k.a. Invincible, the 17-year-old son of the planet's most powerful superhero, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). This new batch of casting recruits will feature as the Guardians of the Globe, this world's premiere superhero team, most of whom are riffs on the Justice League from DC Comics.
Cohan will voice the Wonder Woman-inspired War Woman; James will voice the Batman-based Darkwing; Coleman will voice Martian Man, a spin on Martian Manhunter; Cudlitz will voice Red Rush, a take on The Flash; and Martin-Green will voice the Green Lantern-esque Green Ghost. Marquand, who's proven to be a master of impressions, will voice two roles: the Aquaman-inspired Aquarius, as well as the undying Immortal.

Cohan, who's been M.I.A. from The Walking Dead due to her now-canceled Whiskey Cavalier gig on ABC, will formally return as Maggie alongside Marquand's Aaron for the season 10 finale — which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 situation and will now air as a television special later this year. James currently stars as Morgan on spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead... or does he? We'll have to wait to see what happens when the next season returns.
Coleman, Cudlitz, and Martin-Green all played characters on The Walking Dead proper in the past. Now, these six (or, rather, eight with Payton and Yeun) reunite for Invincible.
Zachary Quinto, Seth Rogen, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Andrew Rannells, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, and Jason Mantzoukas will also voice roles.

Amazon Studios on Tuesday announced it has greenlit an hour-long animated series Invincible, based on the superhero comic book from writer Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Oblivion Song), co-creator Cory Walker, and artist Ryan Ottley. The eight-episode series will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories. The comic book version of Invincible concluded in February 2018 after a 15-year run.
Invincible is an adult superhero show that revolves around Mark Grayson, a normal teenager except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and enters into his father’s tutelage.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the series Cory Walker, Ryan Ottley and I did together for over 15 years,” Kirkman said in a statement. “To know our characters will live on in multiple iterations in other media is almost too exciting to bear! What Amazon is allowing us to do in animated form is nothing short of ground-breaking, and I can’t wait for our rabid fan base to experience it!”

Invincible Amazon Show Celebrated With Image Comics Re-Release
In honor of Invincible's upcoming animated TV show, Image Comics is re-releasing the comic's first issue with a special animated art variant cover.

BY NICOLE D'ANDRIAPUBLISHED 3 HOURS AGO
The first issue of Invincible is getting a special re-release with bonus features and an animated art variant cover in honor of its upcoming Amazon animated series. The TV series variant celebrates the animated style of the show. There will also be new exclusive material within the issue itself.

Invincible is the creation of Robert Kirkman, the man behind The Walking Dead and Outcast, along with Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker. The series starred Mark Grayson as Invincible, the teenage superpowered son of one of the strongest heroes on Earth, Omni-Man. Originally published by Image Comics from issues #0-73, the series became part of Image's Skybound Entertainment imprint from issue #74 to the final issue, #144. In addition to being picked up by Amazon for an animated series, Invincible will also be receiving a live-action movie unrelated to the show.

In the official announcement from Image Comics, Invincible #1 will be getting a limited edition re-release prior to the premiere of the animated series. The first issue will be sporting a new TV variant cover created by series artist Ryan Ottley and colorist Nathan Fairbairn. The cover features the Teen Team, including Mark Grayson, Atom Eve, Robot, Dupli-Kate, and Rex Splode. The interiors of issue #1 will have new content as well, specifically behind-the-scenes featurettes revolving around the animated show, which will be premiering in March.

The animated Invincible show has been highly anticipated ever since it was first announced in a Hollywood Reporter exclusive back in April 2017. The show will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the team who previously produced the Preacher and The Boys TV show adaptation. Even more exciting is the actors cast in the series, including the likes of The Walking Dead's Steven Yuen as Mark Grayson, Whiplash's J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Killing Eve star Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson, Rogen as Allen the Alien, and Mark Hamill as Art Rosenbaum, to name just a few.

The Invincible #1 TV series variant is available for pre-order and will be in comic shops on March 17th. New readers will have just enough time to familiarize themselves with the show's origins before the first three out of eight episodes of Invincible premiere on Prime Video on March 26, 2021. After all, if the comic-accurate designs of the show are anything to go by, this adaptation is likely to be very faithful to the comics, especially since Kirkman and Walker are involved with the animated series. Though hopefully, as was done with The Walking Dead, there will be plenty of surprises that comic book readers and non-comic fans alike won't see coming.
