More than 50 contestants turned out Saturday in a Chicago park to compete in a lookalike contest vying to portray actor Jeremy Allen White, star of the Chicago-based television series “The Bear.”

Beyond the renown of being named White's unofficial body double, the winner walked away with $50 and a pack of cigarettes in recognition of the puff-prone character White plays in the series — Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto — a young, award-winning chef from the glittery world of fine dining who returns to the Windy City to captain his family's dive sandwich shop.

The 2nd season of The Bear was great last year. Season 3 earlier this year wasn't as strong. Really hoping they come back strong with season 4 in 2025 or 2026.

Season 4 or 5 could be the last season.

I never seen it and always wanted to..all i keep seeing is his dope fiend ways from that other tv show he was on..

Ah yeah - his role from Shameless.

As for The Bear ... it's really good. Well acted. It's a bit of a challenge to recommend though as it can be frantic / chaotic at times. It'll spike your blood pressure, lol.

Me and the family sat down the other night and watch all the Jackel which were good..looking forward to the rest

I keep saying im going to watch the Penguin ..im sure one day i will..

Mayor of Kingstown was good as usual

Presumed Innocent was good

The Gentleman was good as well

Fargo was hit and miss...many of the others ones i never watched..

Agreed - that's the hesitation with Baby Reindeer. Having to fast-forward over stuff.

The Penguin was great.

Mayor of Kingstown has been consistent over the years. Credit to Renner for recovering from all those damn accident injuries.

Really liked Presumed Innocent. Went and watched the original movie from 30 years ago a few weeks after watching the series.

Fun assortment of characters in that series, The Gentlemen.

Some parts of Fargo were definitely better than others. Glad to see Juno Temple get a starring role after having little to do on Ted Lasso.

7/10

I got home last night and wrapped up this series.

MAX had released 3 episodes a week and the last 3 debuted November 9th for a total of 12.

Each episode runs under 25 minutes.

It’s an interesting series. And it’s a slow burn series. Highly recommend not trying to binge it but spread your viewing out so you can soak it in.

The series revolves around 3 separate groups of characters on this mysterious planet they are marooned on.

One is a Black female and her robot.

The 2nd is a White Man and a Woman whose ethnicity I could not determine.

The 3rd is a a White man

Each group goes thru their experience on trying to get to the damaged ship, but going thru obstacles they encounter on this planet. Character backstory is spread throughout the series.

The planet is beyond weird. The series is littered with visuals of how unique and alive it is. I was thinking that maybe this series is on the level of the Beatles cult classic “Yellow Submarine” where you need to be high or drunk as Fuck to fully take in the experience.

At this time, no information on if there will be a 2nd season.

For the Gay Agenda Trackers, there is lesbian action with the Black female character told in a backstory.

If you looking for something different and way out past the left field foul line in the nose bleed seats…this is it.

Synopsis

The crew of a damaged deep space freighter are stranded on a beautiful but dangerous planet.

Fuckin’ Netflix does it again!!!

TV fans distraught as ‘masterpiece’ show with 100% Rotten Tomatoes score is cancelled

Series will go down as one of this century’s greatest axed shows.

Jacob Stolworthy
06 November 2024

Viewers of the most underappreciated TV show of 2023 have been left distraught by a new update.

Earlier this year, Netflix quietly added Scavengers Reign, an adult animated science-fiction series that was suspected to have fallen foul to an unceremonious cancellation alongside Julia and Our Flag Means Death.

The 12-episode series gained a cult fan base after premiering on Warner Bros-owned service Max in October 2023, and many had hoped that its addition to Netflix might lead to wider popularity and the greenlight for more episodes, especially considering the show had a perfect 100 per cent score on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

But its creators have now revealed that hopes for a follow-up have officially disintegrated, and that the series, at the time of writing, will not be returning for a second season.

On Tuesday (5 November), co-creator Joe Bennett wrote on Instagram: “As of right now, Scavengers Reign is not being renewed for a second season. I wanted to let everyone know directly because I really love our fanbase, they’ve been such champions for the show, and I don’t want to leave everyone hanging.

“We’ve had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way to get this show made, starting all the way back in 2016 with the Scavengers short film to the release of the first season last year.

He described their passion for the show as “a case study for believing in something and persevering through a million and one hurdles”, adding: “But it got made, thanks especially to so many people who supported it along the way, in big and small ways.

“I want to thank some of those people, starting with my co-creator Charles Huettner, Chris Prynoski and everyone at @titmouseinc, my home base at @greenstreetpictures , the writers, directors, and so many incredible artists who worked tirelessly on the show, and the folks at Max who were incredible partners to work with.”

Bennett assured fans that “this is not the end” and said he is “ready to make another season” if anybody picks the show up. Excitingly, he also shared “a teaser for what was going to come in the second season” that his tema produced in-house.

He concluded the statement: “Thanks again to everyone who watched and supported the show.”

After watching the teaser for what would have been season two, fans are feeling even more distraught by the cancellation news.

“The first season is an absolute masterpiece, it’s a shame it doesn’t get more hype,” one person responded, with another chiming in: “It’s so rare to find new original sci-fi that has this much of a distinct feeling and POV. I need season two.”

Another added: “This show was that hidden gem that showed up on my doorstep one day, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since! It was beautiful and thought-provoking, the perfect example of how animation is the prime medium for our creative stories to blossom!”

Despite being cancelled after just one season, the series remains a worthwhile watch that will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the best one-season shows of the century.

The use of animation impressively introduces viewers to the world of Vesta, a planet filled with extraordinary shape-shifting life forms, ranging from vegetation to animals.

Vesta is the planet that survivors of spaceship Demeter find themselves stranded on, with the series’s 12 episodes showing these characters attempting to navigate their way back to each other through the increasingly dangerous alien world.

Leading the voice cast of Scavengers Reign are Wunmi Mosaku, Sunite Mani and Alia Shawkat, with Skyler Gisondo, Freddy Rodriguez and The Walking Dead star Pollyanna McIntosh featuring in guest roles..

Earlier this year, Warrior, another of Max’s axed shows, was added to the streaming service, with the show’s cast expressing hope of a renewal should it top the streaming service’s most-watched charts. However, it’s set to be removed this month alongside a slew of other movies and TV shows.

Cross

Aldis Hodge
is the third actor to portray Alex Cross a homicide detective and forensic psychologist and i think he is doing a great job, displaying all of Cross's grief, expertise and relentlessness . In fact the entire cast is doing a great job including Ed Ramsey, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Johnny Ray Gill and Samantha Walkes.
Cross is facing off with a serial killer that is cold, casual and has a very unique profile that makes the show even more interesting and twisty.

Landman

It feels like im getting a gritty, fun and bloody lesson about the oil industry. Billy Bob Thornton is absolutely perfect as Crisis executive Tommy Norris. The banter between the characters is on point and so is the subject matter. Way into this series so far.

Paramount is going all out on Landman, it must be the most star studded show on tv

It took me a minute to warm up to the characters but once i saw their true cores and bonds the show became more interesting. All the bed hopping and revenge seeking was fun to watch. Some of the story threads that develop were actually quite moving. The ending was very shocking.
