I'm planning on visiting mom for a couple of days next week. She's about 5 hours away via car & ferry OR public transit & ferry.

Here's what I'm thinking I'll bring for her and her boyfriend re: updating their flashdrive.

She's all caught up with the likes of shows like Slow Horses, Shrinking, Baby Reindeer, etc. She enjoyed Bookie season 1 and plans on checking it out when season 2 starts next week, as she's got that available with her tv provider.

I haven't had a chance to start Cross, The Agency, or Say Nothing yet. But looking forward to them soon.

She's requesting the series SPOOKS - which I haven't seen. I'm hesitant to commit to that one, as I wish she just had Amazon Prime to watch that on her own. She doesn't have Prime. That series debuted over 20 years ago, and ran for 10 seasons! And I don't feel like tracking down that amount of links, lol.

These are the ones I think I'll update the flashdrive with (minus the last link) ...

Spooks (known as MI-5 in some countries) is a British television spy drama series that originally aired on BBC One from 13 May 2002 to 23 October 2011, consisting of 10 seasons. The title is a colloquialism for spies, and the series follows the activities of the intelligence officers of Section D in MI5, based at the service's Thames House headquarters, in a highly secure suite of offices known as The Grid. In the United States, the show is broadcast under the title MI-5. In Canada, the programme originally aired as MI-5, but later aired on BBC Canada as Spooks.

The series continued with a film, Spooks: The Greater Good, which was released on 8 May 2015.[1][2]

Wishing you a wonderful safe visit. Much love o Mama H Funk

Spooks is on a VERY short list of my all time favorite shows and one of the reasons I love everything UK TV

Right on, family. Thanks. It'll be good to see her. She doesn't care much for the holiday season, so we'll get our visit in earlier in the month before all the holiday rush bullshit, etc.

Thanks for vouching for Spooks. Sounds great. I'm surprised it hasn't been on her radar over the years considering it debuted some 22 years ago. She only just mentioned it last month.

Side note ... I look forward to seeing The Agency (Fassbender's new series). Apparently it is based on The Bureau, which I haven't seen either, but have heard great things about.

You mentioned everything UK TV.

Definitely check out Slow Horses when you get a chance. Really worth seeing. Pops and I got caught up quickly this past year. 4 seasons so far, but they're only 6 episodes each.

Great role for Gary Oldman. Good supporting cast as well.

The Agency

Definitely getting a Homeland vibe from this series. As CIA agents try to figure out what agents have been comprised, turned and who can be trusted. It makes me wonder how many real agents that went down extremely deep cover paths and never returned or did anything they could to hold on to the people they were supposed to forget after their missions were over.

The Agency is an American espionage thriller television series for Showtime produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov and starring Michael Fassbender. The series is based on the critically acclaimed French series Le Bureau des Légendes created by Éric Rochant that aired on Canal+ from 2015 to 2020. The series premiered on November 29, 2024.

The Bureau (original title: Le Bureau des Légendes) is a French espionage thriller television series created and co-written by Éric Rochant and produced by TOP – The Oligarchs Productions and Canal+, which revolves around the lives of agents of the DGSE (General Directorate of External Security), France's principal external security service. Originally aired in France from 27 April 2015, it was launched in the United States and Canada on iTunes on 1 June 2016 as part of a new international "Episodic Cinema" label, quickly reaching the Top Five.[2][3] In the United Kingdom, the series was released exclusively by Amazon Prime on 17 June 2016.[4][5]

The first season received positive reviews in both France and other countries, and won several awards. The second season has been universally acclaimed, and has even been seen by some as the best television ever produced in France.[6] The third and fourth seasons, respectively aired in France beginning 22 May 2017[7] and 22 October 2018,[8] have met with further acclaim, with praise for the show's acting, pacing, plot and realism.[9] There is also a fifth season.
