Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys Trailer

Man dudes will hate the fuck on anything, the net has become the hate haven. exactly when was the last so called good black movie made.

All of Spieldberg's movies have a happey ending yet no one complains, there is white garbage put out by the tons.

Shymalan hasn't made a good movie in his last 4.

The moview with Janet Jackson in it was okay. The Madea shit is played the fuck out and corny.

But this looks pretty good pretty layered.

Right, and you know black men "is gonna" see any film with superheroes, explosions, gruesome murders and naked bodies in it.

not really Blunt i saw love and basketball and the green mile when it came out..but you know that only black women go and see mostly tyler perry's movies

also yes, those movies you said are really more entertaining...:yes:...:dance::dance:

peace

I saw it being about how a black woman finds a good man and is so wrapped up into what she perceives success is with the other man (materialism, etc...) and fucks her husband off. Thats what I see the basis of the story is, and she will have to go thru some shit to realize that everything that glitters aint gold. Just my observation, but hell, I could be wrong.....

I agree with you. I saw the same thing you saw and somehow people saw something else. This looks pretty good to me.

Sanaa lathan has found her niche....... sex scenes with
white men. Soon she will eclipse Halle berry as the
white mans new hollywood gal toy and could
possibly be on her way to "Oscar worthy" status:yes:

:hmm:

WHAT IS THIS?? The last movie Why did I get married was good? Da hell is this upper middle class corporate shit again. Damn I grew up like this. I'm not bout to go see this bullshit.

WE DON'T WATCH THAT BULLSHIT NEITHER SO FUCK OFF FUCK NIGGA.

Another movie I get to bootleg the shit out of. At least Taraji Henson fine ass in it.

Tyler Perry look gay as fuck with that afro.

You know i've seen all of Tyler Perry's films and I haven't enjoyed one of them. My girl enjoy's this shit and she loves the plays as well. Anybody seen his plays? Not hatin' but i've yet to enjoy one of his films. I can't help but think they could be better. Especially that Meet the Browns bullshit. But out of all the films he's done and the trailers i've seen this one looks like the best yet. I was shocked to see Kathy Bates in here. Think this is the 1st film i've seen him have with a white actors and actresses in it. Looks interesting though. I just don't think Tyler Perry is a very good writer. I think he has decent story's though. Maybe he should pay someone write them for him.

this is some bulshit

but I really liked why I got married (especially Jill scott), and three little girls

but I cant dig sanaa lathan and the white dude shit again, doubt ill support this one

but I do give tyler perry props for owning his own studio and for the most part putting out a decent image of certain Black families, and varying the topics also

TP markets to these women. He's found a niche and is exploiting the hell out of it. If you a man, TP does not cater to you, so why give a fuck unless your girl is dragging you to see his shit.

I can't knock his hustle. He's got a gameplan and is following it.

i just watched the trailor

seems very involved...like an extended dinner table scene from Why Did I Get Married...which is a good thing if he can manage all of the mini stories

I will be going to see it...he's getting better...YAY!

My biggest issue with Tyler is he seems to get a pass for substandard work. He gets credit for getting "better" even though I've yet to see a film of his that I would consider to be good. They all have the same basic plot lines and endings. I'm happy he's made the money and kept black film alive to a degree, but I wish the level of film making was more professional.

I'm with you. I think that some folks are letting their HATE consume them...
Just looking at the trailer this story seem to be much more layered with more depth than his previous works. You can see Tyler's progression in most of works.

Yes...TP's work is not targeted towards BLACK MEN. Just like those Harlequin romance novels are not targeted towards men. So I am not going to see the shit unless......a woman drags me. With that being said I give TP respect for doing his thing.......and growing.

Plus believe it or not....having white folks in the film especially Kathy Bates.....will bring in a new audience for TP. $$$$$$.

In a few years he is not going to be just the black movie cast king. He will be the king of WOMEN's DRAMA. Any woman regardless of race aged 25 - 40 will race to go see his movies. $$$

Seems like that is his game plan and he is doing a pretty good job of executing.

Hey man... I'm with you. Shit looks good to me. And what part of that preview made anyone think that the point was a black woman being saved by a white guy???

BTW, I know some cats don't like Tyler Perry, but his movies are gettin better. Going from play writing to tv and movies is a HUGE difference.

I have a degree in film.

Man what are you talking about? Why does every black film have to be of EPIC proportions of socio-political importance? Every black movie does not have to be ROOTS or the COLOR PURPLE.

Will Farrell, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler..........make all sorts of movies with shallow plots and modest production budgets. White folks go support the hell out of those.

TP is serving a niche market.......and producing entertaining fare that they desire. I aint mad.

TP's is far from Martin Scorcesse ...but he is doing o.k.

Ironically, I too have a degree in film and I'm a working screenwriter here in Hollywood. I never said anything about socio-political importance nor did I mention the types of films you described. My issue is only with craftsmanship of which I find his to be substandard. I could care less about the genre of his films, and I also don't care what white people do in regards to their film going habits. I agree he deserves support for getting work done, and I believe I praised him before for that. But that doesn't mean because he's black regardless of what he puts up on the screen I have to see it as a masterpiece. I hold him to the same standard as I would any other filmmaker.

He is doing better than okay, but here is where some people may have problems. it has to do with typecasting new filmmakers who may not be interested in making movies like TP.

You should know how that is if you majored in film.

Thats a good point. Many studio exec's now think thats all we want to see. Thats not TP's fault, but it does make it more difficult to get other types of black stories done.

even tho he isn't the BEST film maker...i thank him for showing the black family and black relationship....the ups and downs that we have/are/will encounter (some of us) and how ppl work thru them

i appreciate the variety...he is reviving this type of cinema

its not his fault that he is doing well....maybe some ppl are tired of the roles that black actors play and having to interject themselves into a movie w/ white faces and semi-relatable story lines

It's not even that. Sometimes it just stifles innovation and black directors are made to make movies that they may not like. Not every black director wants to make "black" movies. I like mysteries/suspenses. One of the best movies I have seen is Blowout with John Travolta. I know of other great mysteries but I think this is De Palma at his finest. If yound cat comes along and wants to make flicks they may just tell him to make another TP movie, Spike Lee movie or ganster flick like some years back.

I have nothing against him. He has his niché market. That is all good. His movies are shit just as most movies tend to be shit, but that is Hollywood. At least he his making movies and black actors are working, but his writing is weak. The characters aren't challenging so actors aren't able to showcase their ability in his work.

co sign. and i dont even like tyler perry. "meet the browns": didnt c it. "house of payne": dont and WONT watch it. but this actually seems pretty good. and i didnt c it as her bein saved by a white guy either. like jwatts said, it looks like fuckin the white man actually fucked her life up. just my opinion. and it looks like there's a lot of twists in this 1. @ least its not the same ol "black woman needs savin" storyline. :dunno:

and what song was that playin in the background @ the beginning of the trailer?

and i ever since "higher learning" i cant help but c cole hauser (the white dude in the trailer) as a racist. :dunno: i know hes an actor but he just got that demeanor about him. it always looks like "******" is gon roll off his toungue @ any given moment. :dunno:

All good points. I also love Blowout. Especially the last scene when he's looking for her and the fireworks are going off.

This movie looks good. It doesnt seem like a black or white movie to me. If you replace Kathy Bates with Angela Bassett, then this could be considered a "black movie". And it would not do so well at the theatres like all "black movies".

Im tired of seeing "black movies" that cast one white or hispanic person and make them seem out of place. Its stupid. This movie doesnt seem like that at all. I like drama movies so i may go check this out (never saw any of his movies in the theatres).

I guess if there's no shooting, dancing, singing, rapping, sports or cooning in it, black people wont accept it.

Let the man make his movies, if you dont like it, dont go see it.

At least he his making movies and black actors are working,

Exactly. Cause i just read an article where Demi Moore and other non-black actresses were complaining about not getting work after a certain age. But i will say this, if Morris Chestnut or Gabrielle Union were in this movie instead of Sanaa and Dunbar, i wouldnt waste my time with it. TP did a good job with the cast selection in this moie. I have no complaints.

I have yet to see a TP movie but this doesn't look half bad. Maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on dvd.
