Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys Trailer

It's not even that. Sometimes it just stifles innovation and black directors are made to make movies that they may not like. Not every black director wants to make "black" movies. I like mysteries/suspenses. One of the best movies I have seen is Blowout with John Travolta. I know of other great mysteries but I think this is De Palma at his finest. If yound cat comes along and wants to make flicks they may just tell him to make another TP movie, Spike Lee movie or ganster flick like some years back.

I have nothing against him. He has his niché market. That is all good. His movies are shit just as most movies tend to be shit, but that is Hollywood. At least he his making movies and black actors are working, but his writing is weak. The characters aren't challenging so actors aren't able to showcase their ability in his work.

Trust me I FEEL you. But that is not Tyler Perry's fault. :dunno:
What is he supposed to do about that. I mean damn the man has HIS OWN MOVIE STUDIO and is keeping several existing black workers acting.......and breaking in new ones. Niggas still aint happy.

Tyler nor any other singluar black person can represent or save the entire black community.

that Black Woman Gets Saved By Fucking Her White Boss

Tyler Done It Again

:smh::smh: didn't even watch the trailer probably...

This looks good... I did enjoy Why Did I Get Married, never saw the one, Meet the Browns, I hate anything to do with Madea... but TP is doing his thing, you can't deny that. There were photos on the net the other day of him in Italy with Oprah.... I feel that as long as he continues to grow and his movies get better, who are we to talk shit? He's making things possible for people... I'll take that...

I do wish he'd stay out of his movies... His acting skills are horrible, he's too extreme. Has anyone else noticed this is like the what, 3rd or 4th movie Sanaa and Alfre Woodard have done together? Will she smack her again??? It's almost always a strained mother daughter relationship...

Why do people think that Kathy Bates is going to attract a different demographic? Regardless of Kathy's accolades, she is still a "bit" player in Hollywood who is not a box-office draw.

The white casting in Tyler Perry's films are not going to cross him over either. This new flick is still a black film, no matter who you want to put in it, and white audiences (most of them) will not be interested in it (unless your name is Will Smith or Denzel Washington these days).

Additionally, from inside information I have received (and from what I already suspected long ago), Tyler Perry doesn't write these films, folks.

He'll put a concept down on paper, but he's paying writers off to write his films and not take any credit (which I would never do unless the price was really, really right, a nigga needs that Writer's Guild membership).

Don't believe the hype ya'll, and don't compare a stage play to a screenplay. Tyler's background is in stage play and believe it or not, it is difficult for many writers coming from the stage play arena to make a smooth transition over to screenwriting and do the shit right.

Regardless, I'm glad Tyler Perry is doing his thing successfully. It's a good look for black film in general, even though Perry's films are so-so. I'm not mad at him at all, but for Perry to have longevity, he is really gonna have to switch shit up. A lot of black filmmakers get into the game feeling like they have to make "black film."

Naaaa, man, just make "films." Do it all, expand your horizons, and don't allow yourself to be backed into a corner and labeled as a one trick pony that can do nothing else. You limit yourself this way. Sometimes you have to be colorless.

I have nothing against him. I am thinking of Hollywood in general and how they view black directors/producers.

He can make all the flicks he likes. I admire him for that.

I did watch the trailer you fat bitch.

I know yo fat ass would love that bullshit.

When the movie is over make sure you take your ass to the gym.

Wow. Such crabs in a barrel on BGOL. If you don't wanna see it, fine. But the box office numbers should tell you that it's not only black women going to see his movies. The first one I ever saw was "Meet the Browns" in the theater and that was an excellent film. I downloaded "Why DId I Get Married" from here and that was a great film. If I can go pay to see Batman, I will definitely go pay to see a Tyler Perry film because I have liked the last 2 films of his that I saw.

He also seems to like Janet Jackson... I can't be mad at him because he's got skills and he's a self made man. Did you say in ITALY WITH OPRAH? Tyler better get that paper. I bet she's gonna go in on some deals with him

I just cant watch any of his movies or his show....they are all terrible. Im sick of the same shyt over and over. Coon bullshyt or angry black woman bullshyt. Niggah give it a rest.

Based on the synopsis, this sounds like a story about greed and backstabbing in two families, one white, one black. The white woman's son is a backstabbing opportunist and the black woman's daughter is a backstabbing opportunist. I thought this was the type of story BGOL cats had been waiting for? The white devil man and his black female co-conspirator.

Sounds like a solid storyline to me. I'd have to see how the hell the road trip plays into everything else (sounds like a female "Bucket List" and an entirely different flick), but some of the shit it touches on and how it is handled in the story could be tight as hell (like how the black husband handles his wife's bullshit). Cats always complain about Tyler and his "female victimhood" angles, but in this one, it looks like he is touching on some shit cats on BGOL spend MAD time crying about, manipulative, materialistic, professional black females.

Maybe it's the wrong cat telling the story for some of y'all, but cats constantly bitch about the story never getting told and honestly, I don't know who else would have done it and not gotten a CRAZY backlash form sisters out there (unless a female did the story).

Upside...

No Chemar Moore
No Morris Chestnut
No Garbrielle Union
No Madea
No family dinner or BBQ scenes

Like someone said the uppity or wanna be uppity black females will enjoy this.

the fellas prob will not.

It's a play on words, obviously.

:lol::lol::lol: @ obviously....i wonder how some of these cats have the wherewithal to even log in everyday and surf the internet...

very telling about tyler perry's target audience...we are gonna be hearing black folks saying "dat nigga done misspelled PRAYED fam!!" for the next few months...

lol...Seriously there has to be some other Black movie makers besides Tyler, John and Spike. These guys are sucking up too much oxygen. Like why does Tyra have 2 tv shows she fine but there are other Black women who can host a tv show. Puffy has at least 5 shows and every member of Rev Run Simmons family has their own business. Black masses are fed the same ol same ol and the same black people keep getting fat.

i would check this before i watch that madea bullshit
I'll give it a chance..i know black women will flock to it but hopefully there is a lesson to be learned.
