Wow Props for Dos Santos for not giving up after some bad loses.
Years ago after those Cain Velaquez losses.

Now he has potential future bout for the Heavyweight title

Enjoyed that Dober-Dariush fight earlier on the card. Props to Dariush for his toughness earlier on and catching Dober with the sub later.

What a great 1 round fight from Price & Means. Price took it to him early ... Means has better accuracy & fight experience ... was peppering him on the feet ... only to catch that right hook & hammer fists from Price to close out the round, when we all thought Means was going into round 2 up 10-9 after round 1. Nope. Price with the highlight!

Hoped to see Lewis win, but I'm a fan of JDS as well. Good to see him get his career back on track in recent years. He's definitely had his ups and downs. A great KO win over Velasquez in 1 minute. Followed by Velasquez serving him up beatdowns in their 2nd and 3rd fights. Beating Stipe in a great 5-rounder on Fox years back, only to get TKO'd by Stipe in round 1 in their rematch. A great TKO win over Mark Hunt. A TKO loss to Overeem. A dominant decision over Rothwell. Decision and TKO wins over Ivanov and Tuivasa. It's good to see him in a better place now. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3rd fight with Stipe. Though Stipe seems like he's on the sidelines now. Sitting on the bench HOPING for a rematch with Cormier, even though Cormier stopped him in 1 round last July. Stipe shouldn't waste any time. He's not helping his matters much - at 36yo. Cormier is more likely to fight Lesnar or Jones instead (for better $).

I didnt know too much about this beast bruh.

but just by his look, I was questioning his cardio...

I think he maybe a great brawler, but my bruh needs more dimensions to his game...

if he had a good team behind him, he could be a problem...

santos is a skilled muthafucka but this bruh was custom made for him...

At this point, I gotta say, Stipe is an idiot. He really thinks he can get KO'din a few seconds , then sit around waiting, while DC fought two other people, as if HE has the belt. He needs to get his ass back in that ring and make something happen , or just fight fires full time. Great breakdown of JDS journey. I'm a fan of Lewis too, but it is what it is. Plus, we know he ain't finna do shit against DC anyway. He will NEVER be able to stop that takedown. Too late to learn, and truth be told, prolly too lazy to put the work in that's required to even get close. He can sit at the level he's at, be a fan favorite, get the checks that are left to get, and maybe get lucky and win a belt when DC is gone.

Ohhh my damn!!!! I thought Niko Price was going to lose with seconds to go in the first....:eek2:

Damn ole boy was getting tuned up
Then landed a hammer on Means:beat:

Man, I thought Nikko Price was done! He took several shots to the head but a puncher always has a chance!

That was definitely a wild sequence of events from Price & Means. Damn!

Big props to Dos Santos for believing in himself over the years. Nothing but respect.

Yikes. No wonder he didn't protect his face. I didn't think that punch hurt him that bad. But when your ankle goes AWOL on you, your mind can forget to tell your hands where to go

Agreed re: Means. What a turn of events ... you're closing out a 10-9 round, and then get caught on the jaw & break your ankle & tibula while falling. Like you said ... once you're down ... good luck with immediate defense. Damn.

I hear you re: Stipe. Much respect for winning his way to the title, and maintaining it by being an active champion, but damn man - DC moved up in weight and stopped you decisively in less than 5 minutes. He's sitting around waiting for DC to offer him a rematch out of good will, but DC's like "nah man - at this point what do I have to prove?" (it wasn't a 5-round battle, it was a 1-round stoppage). Make something happen like you said EK - or just focus entirely on by a fighter & not also relying on your job as fireman too. Thanks for the props on the JDS breakdown. Lewis was asked what he thought about Stipe recently, and he was like maybe just be more active. Lewis is the RIGHT guy to speak too ... in that he's dialed in. Having fought in Feb, July, October, November, and March. He said he was NOT prepared for a title fight last October, but when he pulled off that miraculous comeback KO win in that fight, they gave him the quick turnaround championship fight with DC to save the NYC Madison Square Garden money. Life-changing money for him (500k + other bonuses/incentives) and his family (and millions for DC for helping co-save the card). Lewis was offered the fight, and did NOT turn it down. Whereas someone like Stipe would have said - "Not now, I still need more time to train" (even though that chance doesn't come around very often). Take that chance when it comes. Get in there and get 1 or 2 more wins under your belt, and DC may grant you that rematch. Instead of fighting in May (Dos Santos), January (Ngannou) and July (DC) and nothing since. Lewis was on that same JULY card and has fought 3 times since, Stipe. Damn.

Even someone like Overeem (late in his 30s now) stays on his horse & is persistent / resilient. Loses by KO to Rothwell, and comes back with 4 straight wins and gets a title shot with Stipe. The title fight doesn't go his way. What does he do? He gets wins over Hunt & Werdum (KO and decision). Then loses to Ngannou and Blaydes. Both devastating losses. Does he sit around on the shelf? No - he faces lesser competition (Pavlovich) and whoops their ass, as is expected. Builds his confidence back up. Even though he may not get another title shot, and/or may face more bad losses in the future ... he still sticks with it. Fan or not - you have to respect that mindset. Especially given his accolades already (K1, Strikeforce, Dream, etc).
