I'll just say this. People keep talking about how Democrats need to take lessons from the Republicans.

Republicans would 100 percent shut the government down if the roles were reversed. They'd already have their first few days of promo material ready to distribute.

Democrats have no reason or bearing to try and negotiate with the GOP. What else is left to lose here?
Yes, this is completely. The Republicans fault. Even the moderate Democrats don’t want no part of this.

It’s about time they said something and he’s 100% correct

Democrats are a special kind of stupid. This one issue is gone turn voters against them during the midterms
On one hand, I get feeling this way. But on the other hand, with every other thing going on in the country right now, this is the stupidest thing to be fighting for.

I get the optics are bad. But if people can't get past a non-issue like this and see all the other shit going on is more relevant/important to address, then deserve to drive into the ditch that we're headed for.

How much do illegals contribute to the economy?

AI Overview
Undocumented immigrants contribute billions of dollars to the US economy each year through their labor and tax payments. In 2022, they paid $96.7 billion in taxes, which is about $8,889 per person.

Tax contributions $46.8 billion in federal taxes, $29.3 billion in state and local taxes, $22.6 billion in Social Security, and $5.7 billion in Medicare.

Economic impact
  • They work in many industries, including construction, professional services, transportation, and retail

  • They contribute to the economy through their labor and tax payments

  • They help support public services and government programs
Challenges
  • However, more than a third of their tax dollars go to programs they can't access because of their legal status

  • They also pay into Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment insurance, but can't access those benefits

  • Deporting undocumented immigrants would result in a significant reduction in tax revenues
Other considerations
  • The Congressional Budget Office projects that the increase in immigration will add $1.2 trillion in federal revenue from 2024 to 2034.

  • A study by ITEP found that undocumented immigrants contributed $8.5 billion in state and local taxes in California in 2022.

What and overwhelming majority of people don't realize it isn't about the money that illegal immigrants make for the United States that they'll never be able to take advantage of because they're not citizens. It's not because of all the taxes they pay.

The biggest problem white people have with illegal immigrants is when they get here, they have babies and their babies are now citizens because they were born here and white people aren't producing babies at the rate that they used to.

In short, white people are being outbirthed by Black and brown people, and in order to maintain the numerical majority of White people in this country they need to keep the illegal immigrants from coming, because if they come they will fuck, and if they fuck they will have babies

If white people were capable of doing the job that illegal immigrants do far better than they do then we wouldn't have the issue of even needing the illegal immigrants. Round up a bunch of poor white people from Kentucky and Mississippi and Louisiana and take him to these farms to work. They either can't or won't do it anywhere near as well as the illegal immigrants do. That sounds like a THEY problem

Newsy: NRCC Chair Richard Hudson just very dramatically told members to put down their phones and listen, per source in room.

He said no one should be doing town halls. Likened it to 2017, said the protests at town halls and district offices are going to get even worse. Another congresswoman got up and complained that they’ve been picketing at her house and targeting her kid, this source says
