No.
They are Dearborn officials.
Dearborn is a suburb of Detroit. The two cities share a border.
Dearborn is where Henry Ford (an avowed racist, and rampant anti-semite) established his car company.
It was a sundown town back in the day. Black folk should not be around after sundown, being the meaning.
The town, formerly run by predominantly racist rednecks, became overwhelmingly arab over the years, as, in the mind a redneck, living next to arabs is WORSE than living next to Black people.
All that said, given the current political situation, I try to simply pass through, and do as little business there as possible. I don't live there.
Agreed.Henry Ford lived and worked in Dearborn but Ford Motor Company was started on Mack in the D. The Arab population in Dearborn is very divided. They have Lebanese, Chaldean:, Palestinian, and Yemeni. The Chaldeans are Christian and the Muslims don't fuck with them like that. It's not like the media portrays it. The Palestinians are a small group in Dearborn. But you speak the truth.
Agreed.
Chaldean and Muslims are divided in terms of religion. But NONE of those you mentioned, nor the Jordanians, actually socialize, interact at leisure, date, or (heaven forbid) marry Black people.
Chaldeans are the overtly racist ones: they sell liquor, which Muslims are not permitted to do, and therefore interact with Black folks far more frequently. But none of them have the best interest of Black people in mind. For anything.
NONE of those communities, Chaldean, Yemeni, whatever, respect women as equal human beings. None of these groups value Black people as fully human. These are characteristics of the ARAB population (arab meaning arabic is their first language), regardless of religion or national origin. The one possible exception would be the Lebanese, but they tend to be slightly less racist than the others, in my experience.
Question: have you ever driven down Outer Drive anywhere north of Michigan Avenue? Take a look at the cribs. They are very wealthy as a group, and nobody ever seems to notice they are there...until election time. Of course I am generalizing. Just wondering if you knew.
