If you know anything about California, you know it's probably seen as the most liberal state in the country. Not getting into whether or not that's the case (or if it's good or bad), but that is the perception. As we know , perception trumps reality everytime.
Perceptions that can hurt Newsome.
1. Soft on crime
2. High taxation
3. Too much government involvement/regulations
4. Too soft on immigration
5. Homelessness-issue for both sides..either he's not doing enough to get them off the streets or he's not doing enough to help them.
6. Spending too much money on benefits for illegals and possibly in general.
7. Probably willing to support fully LGBTQ rights.
8. Probably full supporter of Israel, which is good for repubs, not for dems.
There's probably other things too, but these are some of the main things that were used against Biden/Harris off the top of my head.
Republicans better keep in mind when the shit really hits the fan they going to have bulls eyes all over them. The Luigi incident was just a test run.
I would toss in abortion in as number 6.
Spending too much on immigrants I don't think rural folks connected those dots until Greg did his busing move and they all those city folk complaining, but that's definitely something that going to need be addressed moving forward.

I'm all for a united front, but they can't be trusted if they can't acknowledge they genuinely fucked up. I'm not interested in them getting things back to (more) normal, then turning right back around and voting for the same stupidity again. If that's how it's going to be, we can stay in the ditch for all I care.
Also, because someone pointed it out somewhere else, you have to be really careful about the difference between being mad about what's actually going on and being mad about the part of it that affects you. If they're only mad because Musk has access to their personal info, they might be just fine with everything else if/when he gets removed. That ain't enough, though.
