VA HS runner attacks opponent with baton during relay race

Her story is that because the girl on the outside was running so close to her lane (which it did almost look like they were about to be tangled up) her baton accidentally got caught on the girls lower back which caused her to lose her stride and balance. So when she tried to recover by lifting her hand up with the baton upward, the off balance forward momentum is what caused her to accidentally make contact with the girls head. These girls are running at very fast speeds so it is plausible but she needs videos that show other angles to verify her claim that it was an accident. That is the only way I see her getting out of this unscathed. If that is the story she is going with, then she needs other video angles of the same incident to exonerate her.

For the indoor 4x200 after the 1st leg handoff you can stagger out of your lane. So they are practically running on top of each other. And its straight chaos when they come around on the next legs to handoff. Then these runners stop on the track after the handoff or veer off in outside lanes bumping into active runners, knocking out their batons. I have seen a girl run off the track to avoid someone. These kids are not smart.

Plus some of these tracks especially Boo Williams is not set up properly. Hell at CNU visitors walk on the track as runners are going by no matter how many times they tell them not to enter the track.

So do you think her reason for accidentally hitting girl with the baton is plausible?

Talking to my wife that ran track in HS and college says that you finish the race but you go back and check on her. The fact that she didn't makes it look shady as hell.
No, the FACT that she VERY PURPOSEFULLY clocked that girl over the head as she was passing her by makes it shady as hell. Fck an apology. I’m not Jesus. U can’t do fuck shot to me then just apologize and make it all better. Her whole family would have to learn that day, today, and some future days. There is no doubt to give a benefit to. That lil girl was TRIPPIN and now doubling down by crying crocodile tears instead of owning her BS. Fck her family for not making her own that shit too. There’s a sickness going on around, it’s called lack of accountability. They’re teaching her lack of accountability even more with this BS

Oh hell no, that was intentional, she extended her arm to smash her skull. I have read a lot online of she was in her lane but this is like the 10,000km bumping and shouldering. So I gave a reason for the closeness.

Parents send the wrong message. Stop telling kids to say I'm sorry after doing wrong.

You're not sorry. If you cared you wouldn't have done it.

Stop teaching kids that I'm sorry gets them out of consequences.

When we would talk in class my teacher used to say, "Don't be sorry, be silent".

I don't need your remorse after the fact, fake or real. I need you to know what to do and what not to do upfront.

If this is my kid, fuck all the litigation (that’s coming too), attackers’ father, the coach, the principal, the superintendent, the president of the school board, they ALL gotta look me in the eye, explain what in the fuck this kid (attacker) was thinking, apologize, and it’s still not going to be enough and now it might have to go to another level.

ol'sore loosing ass bitch...

Could it have been accidental?

In theory, yes. But it would have had to have been the most tragically unfortunate sequence of events in the history of both of these girls lives, if not all of track and field in this region for that very specific accident to have happened, and it's really hard to imagine that that was the case.

Not to mention, like others have said, I can't imagine there wouldn't have been some way to send a welfare check/apology to the victim. Even through secondary channels, there had to be a way.

I'm a little confused. They said she (the victim) was running the 2nd leg of a 4x200 when she was attacked. So what did her 3rd leg teammate do when she noticed that the baton wasn't coming?

If I'm running 3rd leg and I see the enemy 2nd leg take out my 2nd leg, I'm decking that motherfucker as soon as he gets close enough. I'm throwing hands in a way to get everybody Dq'ed. Fuck this race, ain't nobody running now

Ol' girl got El-Kabonged like she was Quick Draw McGraw.

The girl who did it wasn't shit. She's talking about her mental health? Well, that includes having the ability to handle adversity - including losing a race.

If it’s an accident how come this is the first time it’s been reported in a race? In all the relay races that have taken place around the world someone has batoned another athlete by mistake because they’re too close or bad form. Right? Nope.

She did it on purpose.
