"Vivek talked to white people the way white people talk to black people and they fucking DID NOT LIKE IT"

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it.

When you realize ur not Trump and just the DEI hire to white America.

Typical foreigner behavior...leave their shithole country to come enjoy the benefits of a functional country then turn around and start calling the natives of that country lazy

I’ll fix that for you:

leave their subjugated country to come enjoy the benefits of a colonial empire then turn around and start calling the colonizers of that country lazy

Natives:cmonson:

I like this response. Every thing is not always cut and dry.

I'm going to say I come from a place where the Indians were brought in as indentured.

Where I'm from we were given the authority of security and the Indians were given the rest. I see the police officer in NYC giving away unlimited OT but he's not the commissioner. What industry will they offer to us as a concession?

I’m deeply questioning my decision to support the Republican Party after witnessing the persistent and dehumanizing attacks directed at me and my community by individuals who, despite hiding behind a veneer of respectability, openly harbor and amplify racist ideologies. I’ve tried to hold onto the belief that these voices represent a vocal minority, not the broader values of the party. But time and again, I am disheartened as accounts with massive followings—many of them wielding significant influence—parrot unhinged conspiracy theories and perpetuate overtly racist tropes without consequence.

This isn’t just about isolated comments or fringe behavior; it’s about a pattern that reveals an uncomfortable truth about the party’s failure to unequivocally reject bigotry. These attacks aren’t simply offensive—they are alienating to communities whose values, work ethic, and aspirations align with many conservative principles, yet find themselves consistently vilified.

The most troubling part is the normalization of this rhetoric by individuals who should be using their platforms to unite, not divide. It forces one to ask: Is this truly the exception, or is it a reflection of an undercurrent that the party is unwilling—or worse, uninterested—to confront? For a movement that claims to champion merit, individual dignity, and opportunity, it’s disheartening to see those ideals betrayed by voices that choose hate over inclusion.

If the Republican Party wants to grow, evolve, and truly represent a diverse and forward-thinking electorate, it must take a hard look at its blind spots and the voices it elevates. Without that reckoning, it risks alienating not just me, but countless others who once believed in its promise.

The highest paid employee at a university is the football coach. He is using Elon as racial cover, which is interesting who is mimicking him.

I plan to set up somewhere else in another country and their type of immigration gives me a bad rap; the term I use is immigrant pollution by corporate America. Their type of immigration attacks, other minorities and their accomplishments to further justify some visa scam, which is a gateway to citizenship.

For all of his smarts --Vivek is too ignorant to have learned in "Race Relations 101" that "a minority cannot talk against whyte people TO whyte people!" Their "tribalism" is triggered causing them to turn on the messenger -- even if what he/she is saying is perfectly logical!

Bro, he thought he was "one of them". He had to learn that for all his money, education and prestigious position/titles, he's still just a "sand ni**a" to them

What's crazy is this country is getting ready to be running by foreigners...but what's even crazier is this country allowed it.
None of these cacs out here thought they were the ones being talked about. You can see them trying to cope now that the cat is out of the bag- they are saying- "nah, he's talking about ALL ameritcans, including african-american, latino & asian"... while at the same time, they claim those people aren't even REAL Americans.

Crazy shit is how they out here talking reckless about American Culture to justify their desire to import cheap tech labor (make no mistake, that is what this is about)- calling Americans too stupid to do this work- (when in reality, you or I ain't doing it for poverty wages), while simultaneously advocating cutting education funding and eliminating the department of education altogether

I wonder if maga will finally realize what Musk, Ramaswamy & others of their ilk actually are, or see this shit for what it really is.

Just wait until you realize he and George Clooney sunk the Democrats on purpose. They only elected him because they thought their world was going to end. And the way half right. Now they know that the world spins whether they’re here or not. We as non whites need to learn to live with this new reality.

Not sure why people would think this conversation is new or what Obama said about competing globally is a thing. That message has been said for decades. Anyone from a manufacturing town since the 60s or who went to college since the 80s has heard/seen jobs and economic changes based on global influences.

On a different note, surprised someone here hasn’t questioned the racial politics of WHY certain countries get tapped for “cheap” labor as opposed to others.

That post had:

3. was posted by Costanza

If ever there was a post that should be completely ignored and disregarded, it was that one.
