Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Emma Caulfield has revealed she has multiple sclerosis in a new interview, also confirming her return to the WandaVision universe in Kathryn Hahn's upcoming Marvel series Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
The 49-year-old actress, who appeared opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy as the ex-demon Anya between 1998 and 2003, told Vanity Fair she was diagnosed with the neurological condition that disrupts communication between the brain and the body, resulting in the immune system eating at the protective covering of nerves.
"Once upon a time, I had zero health problems," Caulfield told the publication. "Back in 2010, I was working on [executive producer] Marti Noxon's Gigantic, and prior to starting that job, I woke up one morning and the left side of my face felt like there were a million ants crawling on it. That feeling when you've sat in a position too long? ... The feeling's gone and it's coming back like a rush of blood. Then it just sort of went, I wouldn't say completely numb, because I could still scratch it and feel my nails. But it was extremely dull. I went to my acupuncturist, and he was like, 'I don't know, man. Maybe you have Bell's palsy?'"

At the insistence of her acupuncturist, Caulfield went to a neurologist for an MRI. She received the call confirming her MS diagnosis when she returned to set.
"I had five minutes down or whatever. And he was like: 'You have MS.' Just like that," she recalled. "It was like an out-of-body experience. I'm like, 'No, that's not possible.' I'm like, 'What are you talking about?' He was very matter-of-fact about it. 'Well, you can get a second opinion…' It was literally a kind of nightmare…. It turns out it was something major. Then I was like, 'I've got to go to work now.' What do I do?"

Caulfield promised she's feeling "OK right now," saying, "Truthfully, my attitude is not crumbling under the fear of 'what if' or 'what can,' or 'what has' for other people. I just have to keep going."
After starring in four episodes of WandaVision as Sarah Proctor (who appears in Wanda Maximoff's black-and-white fantasy world as her neighbor Dottie Jones) opposite Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Caulfield is set to reprise her role in Hahn's spin-off series centering on her villainous witch, Agatha Harkness.
Speaking to EW for Buffy's 20-year reunion in 2017, Caulfield speculated on why the series became such a popular cultural staple among young people throughout its run.
"It just touched on really basic human emotions, like a life blueprint," she told EW. "'I don't have any friends. I feel isolated.' Those sort of core human emotions."

At this point, everything seems to be up in the air as Marvel pivots. Consider how they had to reshoot almost half of the new Daredevil. You've got to give them credit for recognizing and trying to correct.

BTW - "Echo" drops on Janurary 9th. The entire 5 episodes supposedly with DD and Kingpin appearing.

Folks are wondering why. Does Marvel think it's a flop so just want to get it out of the way? We'll see.

What was the issue with DD? I've obviously been out of the loop

The powers that be (read: Kevin Keige) thought/realized the Marvel shows were flopping because they were shooting them like big-screen movies instead of TV shows.

Elizabeth Olsen, beloved by Marvel fans for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, recently opened up about her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and whether she'd return to the role. Speaking with FM104, Olsen reflected on her experience playing Scarlet Witch, from her introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) to the hit Disney+ series WandaVision. The actor also admitted that Marvel seemed uncertain about her character’s direction after WandaVision, despite the love fans had for the complex and tragic figure she portrayed.

"It's a character that I love going back to when there's a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well. I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there… if there's a good way to use her I'm always happy to come back."

Wanda’s Journey in the MCU

Olsen first stepped into Wanda Maximoff's shoes in 2015, appearing as a secondary character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As the MCU evolved, so did Wanda, returning in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Her star turn came in 2021's WandaVision, which was Marvel's first TV series on Disney+. The show explored Wanda's grief following the events of Endgame, as she used her powers to craft a surreal, sitcom-inspired reality.

WandaVision was praised for fleshing out Wanda’s character and showcasing her vulnerability. The series intricately explored her journey through loss and grief, drawing viewers into the emotional core of the character. For many, this was Wanda's most compelling arc in the MCU.

However, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda was depicted in a radically different light. Desperate to reunite with the children she had lost in her fantasy world, she became the primary antagonist, using her powers to tear through the multiverse. Fans and critics alike noticed the sharp contrast in Wanda's characterisation from WandaVision to Multiverse of Madness, with some arguing the latter undid much of the nuanced storytelling from the series.

Olsen has not shied away from expressing her concerns about how Wanda was handled between the two projects. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, she shared her frustration with the lack of communication between the writers of WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness, noting that she ended up playing a very similar arc across both projects. The abrupt shift from grief-stricken mother to villainous world-dominator left some fans confused, and Olsen herself seemed disappointed by the lack of cohesion.

Despite some frustrations, Olsen remains open to reprising her role as Scarlet Witch, but only if the character's return is handled thoughtfully. For now, fans can catch Olsen in her upcoming film His Three Daughters, set for a limited theatrical release on September 6, before landing on Netflix on September 20.
