Fuck you if you knew he was a ain't shit ass nigga but you didn't say nothing because you didn't want to hurt your career but now you want to say something because it's what's in. Fuck them all. And I love Lupita but I gotta stay consistent. These women knew this shit was going on and let it go on now they want to get on a soapbox? Naw......

She's speaking out because she can speak out
and also she refused to work with the cat. So even if she never said nothing, she made sure she never worked with him even when he begged to give her features. that is a principled stance.

Lupita would appear to be the only Black actress so far who has publicly accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. Some here on BGOL have gone out of their way to call her every derogatory name in the book just for doing so. And Lupita’s accusation is the ONLY one out of the last public 60 (75? 100+?) that Weinstein felt it necessary to issue a public denial about.
I’ll just leave this “hmmm?” right here. :fuckyousay:

Nyong’o left, but a few months later, the two met again and Weinstein allegedly propositioned her at a restaurant, an offer she declined, which quickly ended the meeting.

Whenever I hear a woman telling a story about a bad decision she made and she uses phrases like "I was naïve", "too trusting", "like to see the good people", etc...I just :rolleyes:, because it means they knew exactly what they were doing it's just now they're trying to make an excuse for doing it. Not only did she socialize with again after the first incident SHE REACHED OUT TO HIM AND INVITED HIM to come see her. Women are always making these horrible decisions and then trying to make an excuse for it. I was watching the ID Channel yesterday, this woman was in an abusive relationship, the guy had beat her up but she managed to run and call the police so when he caught up with her they were there to save her. The cop told her please ma'am we don't want to have to come back here because we see situations like this to much. She told the cop don't worry I've learned my lesson. They take him to jail and charge him with DV, a couple months later right before he is supposed to go to trial he calls her up in the middle of the night. She said "I was half asleep so I kinda mistakenly answered it", the guy was telling her how he was sorry and just wanted to see her one last time and get a hug, she said "he was very manipulative and I figured i'd just give him a hug and I could go back to sleep".:eek2::rolleyes::rolleyes: She goes out to see him and he stabbed her over 20 times. The only thing that made him stop stabbing her is a woman came by and yelled she was calling the cops. When the cops came it was the same cop that showed up 2 months earlier, said he just went to the door and told her mom to come see her one last time. They airlifted her and she somehow survived. At the end of the show she talking about there was a silver lining to her story, she is now engaged to the guy that came to airlift her from the scene:hmm:
Exactly. It's so anti feminist for them to be claiming. Stupid after everything. I really have to stop taking them so seriously

Exactly
which is why every interaction in that world is a potential professional setting.
Dinners
Movies
Meetings in Hotel Rooms.
that is literally how lots of LEGIT above board business gets done. So liken it to a woman waking into a traditional board room at a company or university and then the guy is like well give me a massage or we should have sex in order for you to get this position or advance or have a future here.
any situation you or a woman walks into without tangible leverage
and the other party has power to not only pay you but deliver you to a platform for fame and grant access to great riches...
is going to lead that type of abuse and worse

Countless temps and receptionists became exec assistants or project mangers or office mangers after a few"massages" on conference tables, desks and couches

Hollywood and musc is much much worse
"I'll make you famous... I'll make you a star.. I'll make you rich" - is real

an over night star has to earn it one way or another

I guess the new term for feminists is 'victim blaming.' If you are critical of bad choices, you are 'victim blaming.' Post your example on social media about the woman who got stabbed, and you'd be flooded with that 'victim blaming' bullshit.

Pieces of shit like Harvey exist and if we don't tell women that SOMETIMES bad choices can lead to bad situations with people like him, we aren't being realistic. I have daughters and can't afford to let them believe some of this feminist bullshit. If pointing out how bad choices can affect situations helps them to be more aware, best believe I'm going to do it.

Mannnnnnn they'd try to run me off Facebook. This month is domestic violence awareness month, ANYBODY that has dealt with domestic violence in their family/friends know that the women in those situations are there because they stayed but if you ask the question "why didn't she leave" people will go crazy with the "you're victim blaming" claim and start saying the phrase that I absolutely hate to hear "you can't speak on it if you've never been thru it"

I love Lupita but IF she's been sending him invitations (which would contradict her stance of never dealing with him again) as well, she needs to have a few seats rather than pile on because it's trendy for now. The ones that played the game but now have regrets (but calling it "rape") decades later get no cool points lol

Hell, Rose McGowan was a known freak bitch so spare the faux tears

I dunno if ya know this but this is a Black board.

Weinstein has been mentioned a few times in this board. Go and see if there have been over individual outcries in the fashion that Lupitas is, and if we even care to read those, you might see similar responses to them. As of now, hers is the only one we would probably give a shot about reading, because- again, she’s black- hence Black guys reading it and talking about it.

If t makes you feel good, I would say that ANYONE who has stories similar to hers, same thing applies. And as far as HE goes, it’s been fuck him from jump.

Why didn't she say nothing when it happened?

She didn't fuck him for a favor and after she got on without his help didn't accept a job from him because of his fucked up behavior towards her.
Even her writing wasn't asking for sympathy it was laying out a timeline of facts and her experiences.
you can apply that to the ones who accepted his favors more than you can apply it to someone who after their encounters made sure never to work with him even though he is a powerful as he is

in the article she said that he offered her the lead in her own major film. and she turned it down. that's for the "care more about her career" crowd.

Sadly we see what happens to the women who NEVER went upstairs...

they either never got a real opportunity in the industry

or

they are treated like Lupita is being treated in this thread.
I'm curious...

What if Harvey comes forward saying they had an off and on affair since her senior year at Yale
and he is the one that really pulled the strings for 12 Years a Slave
casting - finance - distribution - awards push...
(Harvey had deep relationships with CAA and most of the assorted production companies behind 12 years and Fox)

non of his reps would want him to say this and I expect the media will drown him out or spin it...

but how would you react?

Can’t argue this.

This is EXACTLY what we’re saying about Lupita.

Truthfully when this story broke, that was already what I was thinking , but I never looked into it enough to know if actual rape was involved so I didn’t really speak on it. With Lupita it’s somewhat closer because shes someone I actually WATCH. Gwyneth Palttow and the other one I give two shits about lol. So yes, I'd their story is NOW that he made passed at them , none of them are "brave".

All I know is all these Hollywood fucks who get on stage with at the award shows pretendin to make stances in politics with all their self righteousness as if they don't live in all that weirdo shit amongst each other need to cut the shit.

She COULD have remained silent, there was NO incentive for her to come out with this

cause they way Harvey moving ?

maybe just MAYBE

he would have receipts, witnesses or even audio or video of them together.

But even IF he PROVED it?

I still wouldn't judge her...

it would just PROVE how f*cked up the entertainment has been and is

and if Jolie and Paltrow and them aint getting judged?

David Schwimmer praised for offering a female critic a chaperone during interview

A female film critic has recalled the time David Schwimmer offered her a chaperone while interviewing him in his hotel room.

Nell Minow, who is one of the most respected and esteemed critics in America, was prompted to reveal the story in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault allegations.

Speaking to Poynter, Nell told of how she was due to interview the former Friends star about his 2010 film Trust, which he had directed and produced.

The film focused on a young girl who is groomed and raped by a man that she met on the Internet.

They had arranged to speak in the hotel restaurant but it was too loud, leading to Schwimmer suggesting they could continue the interview in his room.

Perhaps realising that this might be an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation for a woman, Schwimmer added that he could guarantee that a third person would be present in the room.

Nell is quoted as saying:

I haven’t thought of that since it happened but the Weinstein stories made me not just remember it but remember it in an entirely different context as an indicator of the prevalence of predatory behaviour and as an indicator of Schwimmer’s integrity and sensitivity.

This wasn't just about his being a good guy who would not have tried anything.

He understood what it is like to have to be constantly on the alert and he wanted to make sure I understood I was safe.

Nell didn't feel threatened and declined Schwimmer's offer but appreciated the star's sensitivity and consideration.

This story is a stark contrast to other reports that have been emerging from Hollywood in recent weeks.

A large number of women have come forward with allegations that Producer Harvey Weinstein had abused them, while others have also shared separate allegations of sexual assault in the film industry.

Meanwhile, director Quentin Tarantino has told the press he was aware of Weinstein's alleged misconduct toward women.

Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith Speak Out on Harvey Weinstein Allegations

Posted: 6:25 PM, October 19, 2017Updated: 9:10 AM, October 20, 2017
Quentin Tarantino admits that he knew about several of the allegations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with The New York Times on Thursday, the director, who worked closely with Weinstein for years, revealed that he "knew enough to do more than I did."

"There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things," he admitted, citing several allegations by well-known actresses. "I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him."

Tarantino went on to state that he was aware of the allegations his former girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, told The New Yorker about Weinstein, that the producer had massaged her without asking, chased her around a hotel room and even showed up at her apartment in the middle of the night.

“I was shocked and appalled,” Tarantino said of his reaction to Sorvino's accusations. “I couldn’t believe he would do that so openly. I was like: ‘Really? Really?’ But the thing I thought then, at the time, was that he was particularly hung up on Mira.”

“What I did was marginalize the incidents," he added, claiming that he confronted Weinstein after hearing a similar story from an actress friend of his. “Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse.”

Tarantino, who said he also knew of the settlement between Weinstein and McGowan (the Charmed star later tweeted that Weinstein had raped her, while Weinstein unequivocally denies allegations of non-consensual sex), reasoned that he “chalked it up to a ’50s-’60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk. As if that’s O.K. That’s the egg on my face right now.”

“I’m calling on the other guys who knew more to not be scared. Don’t just give out statements. Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. Vow to do better by our sisters," he said.

...........

Kevin Smith, meanwhile, said in his podcast, Hollywood Babble-On, that he didn't see the side of Weinstein that has become the subject of headlines.

"My entire career is tied up with the man," he said. "It's been a weird, f**king week. I just wanted to make some f**king movies, that's it. That's why I came, that's why I made Clerks. And no f**king movie is worth all this. Like, my entire career, f**k it, take it. It's wrapped up in something really f**king horrible."

"I'm not looking for sympathy. I know it's not my fault, but I didn't f**king help. Because I sat out there talking about this man like he was a hero, like he was my friend, like he was my father and sh*t like that, and he changed my f**king life. And I showed other people, like, ‘You can dream, and you can make stuff, and this man will put it out.' I was singing praises of somebody that I didn't f**king know."

The director also vowed to donate all his future residuals from his Weinstein-produced films to the nonprofit organization Women in Film, and to donate $2,000 per month to the organization for the rest of his life.

"That feels like a start," he said.
