Wendy Williams’s care team has announced that she has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and dementia.

FTD, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine, “is a group of disorders that occur when nerve cells in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain are lost. This causes the lobes to shrink. FTD can affect behavior, personality, language, and movement.”

There are several types of FTD, the frontal which affects behavior and personality and the primary progressive aphasia form that affects communication.

Primary progressive aphasia has two variations: progressive nonfluent aphasia, affecting the ability to speak and semantic dementia, affecting the ability to understand and use language.

There is another form of FTD, which is less common, that causes symptoms similar to Parkinson’s or Lou Gehrig’s disease, Johns Hopkins said.

The cause of FTD is not known.

I said in the other thread that it's difficult to feel any real sympathy for someone who was so ruthlessly callous to so many people and their personal lives.

That's terrible. I know a lot of folks don't like her for her gossiping ways. However, she did put Puffy on blast back when many were afraid to risk their career doing so. She also put Dirty Kelly, on blast back when many were still making excuses for him. I just hope she gets the care she needs and her son sticks with her.

As much as she annoyed me, her show made my job at the time, easier to take. Had me crackin up the last 2 hours of the day.

I saw some of the interviews her niece did the other day. It may just be that she was sober the last time she talked to her, or they talked on a day where she was lucid and normal. I was like you till my mom was so adamant about not telling anyone her diagnosis. And I immediately remembered what Wendy did. So to actually feel it from Method perspective? I understand.
