I must admit, I didn't see what the hype was with Aaliyah at first. The fact that R. Kelly got with her at first - when she was into her big clothes wearing, young girl stage - turned me off to her.
It was when I saw a picture of her several months before she died, where she was wearing this sexy black dress that was slit high up the sides, and she had these high-heeled, strappy shoes, a nice black manicure and pedicure, minimal makeup, and a great smile - that's when I could appreciate her beauty and sexiness. The frank sexuality of the "Rock the Boat" lyrics helped as well.
