Dang! My bro in law was on Dolph heavy back in like 2013 and this was in the bay area.

I to my knowledge dude stayed out of the media and I hadn't heard anything bad except for a couple years ago when he got shot/shot at.

This is awful but if he was rapping that shit about shooting and robbing then I cannot condone that.

At some point (black) people have to say enough is enough.

Come on fam. There’s better arguments. An actor is actually portraying a role. Rappers are not on that category. Specifically street rappers

Music is music
music is art
Rapper rapping about the streets don't bring out that energy in people anymore than heavy metal artist talking about being cannibals makes them a target for hannibal

the blame is in the people who are envious of people who are successful

dolph was successful and still tried to give back to the community he was from.
if he moved out then a lot of people would say why don't you give back etc?
it's a catch 22

but the blame is on THEM not him

As someone who's not from Memphis.....as someone who doesn't keep up with this shit..

What does Yo Gotti have to do with this? Why cops guarding his spot?

Memphis is a cold place to come from.

A friend of mine is from there and when I say it feels like every month he goes back to bury a cousin there from gun violence.

sadly this one of the hardest songs he ever put out. The build up to the beat then it drop. Dolph was on a wave now Key Glock gotta keep the PRE name going.

You mad about that?

If walking around like a prison bitch and committing murder is your thing, then do you.
You’re just some loser ass nigga trying to feel good about yourself
Intentionally mischaracterizing a Black man, so you can elevate yourself over him
Meanwhile, most people are sad over his death because not only did he make motivational music, but he helped people. He was respectful
You’re a whole fucking loser, and the sad part is, you really feel good about yourself right now

Nah they’re actually right and you’re wrong. It’s really the same thing.

Because I wanna kill that irritating nigga in the movie “Da 5 Bloods”. I wanna physically stomp out Ivan Drago for killing Apollo Creed. And lastly I want to hurt everyone involved in the killing of ET.

Yes, we always use the same argument yet here we go again with another rapper getting killed. I don’t know much about heavy metal and cannibalism. I So I’ll stick to the music I do know. I haven’t seen to many rappers that aren’t rapping killing getting killed. You never hear of Christian rapper getting killed or back rappers.Who are the rappers getting killed! Street rappers. Dolph could be to blame, he was shot at more than once made songs bragging about how the shooters couldn’t shoot. It’s all in energy he's putting out.

For ever 1 rapper you say put the energy out there and died
there are 20 who did the same thing but didn't stay where the envy was and live long beautiful lives

so.

There's what should be (the aspirational), and there's also what is (the reality). Aspiration-wise we should learn, grow, cooperate thus improving our standing collectively. Practically, as it stands, I'd never view myself in the same category these niggas.

May seem contradictory to you, but it's not.

Anyhow,

I doubt that these niggas doing this dirt would react the same if a white person disrespected them. But when there's perceived disrespect from another black person, the default reaction is violence.

Why is that?

If you can't recognize how self-hatred figures into that, I don't know what to tell you.

Do you see how quick it can happen?

I’m not sure if it’s self-hatred but calling another Black man a bitch can lead to issues in real life. His pride will not allow himself to be disrespected, his reaction and yours will essentially bring you into the same category as “Those” niggas that you spoke about.

Not sure if it’s self-hatred or pride or maybe a mix of both. But if you can’t see that you’re an active participant, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I remember I used to see him asking for free lunch
I remember his shoes was dusty now he riding clean huh?
Man I saw this dude in traffic and he ain't even remember me he ain't even act like we wasn't in Ms. Washington class in 2nd grade
money done made him all brand new he tried to lil bruh me and shit fuck wrong with him

If you move cats ain't got that energy towards you

But also if you feel like you need to stay to give back that's a blessing
the envy is the curse and takes these cats out

Nipsey was giving everyone jobs and on complete positivity
went to his strip mall to get a dude who just got out some clothes to welcome him home and got shot in the head

All Nispey energy was positive as fuck for the past few years of his life

Unless it was a robbery, most rappers weren’t killed because of envy. The rappers killed had real beef with people and the beef ended their lives.

The negative and violent music can and is used to taunt the enemy of the rappers so if they’re killed, the music has a lot to do with it.

I'll counter with it's all in the same pot.
Jam master Jay got killed in his own studio
So giving good will didn't help him or stop people from robbing and killing him.

This is to say that the element of any forms of envy is the cause of it
Beef starts with envy in majority of the cases there are beef.
Someone felt some kind of way because of something someone might have said and then it grows from that.
I'm not here to say Dolph ain't have beef he did
I'm here to say that rapping about the streets isn't any more of a cause of death for some
if you IN the streets doing shit that causes your death.

never listened to his music, but its messed up to go out like that so young.
Damn, 36 too old to be a rapper getting shot over some bullshit.
That shit usually happens to cats in their teens and 20s
Don't know much of his music, but I definitely heard of him.

RIP
What's his most well known collaboration or song?

I looked him up and the only thing I recognize is he was on that "Cut it" song.
Nigga, asking who a person is, is not disrespectful. I genuinely want to know what happened. I'm 51. I don't know who every flash in the pan rapper is these days. But I'm still concerned about unnecessary black death. So if you're not trying to enlighten me then fall back and let the mature adults tell the story. Ya'll some sad sensitive little boys on this bitch!
Don't know if I've heard any of his music, but I've know about him for years.

From what I observed,

niggas hated on Dolph from the beginning because he was self-made in a sense. Dude put himself on. He apparently worked as a barber in the early days and transitioned into being a rapper. Paid Gucci Mane out his own pocket for a verse. When he named one of his albums "King of Memphis" niggas got salty (Yo Gotti & his camp, Blac Youngsta, etc). He even tried to correct it by saying he was "a" King of Memphis but it was too late. The North vs. South Memphis beef helped fuel shit too, plus gang shit (Crip, Vice Lord, Blood shit). Niggas were constantly hating on Dolph. The hate is well documented on Famous Animal TV on youtube.

In a way, he was similar to Nipsey Hussle.
I fucked with Dolph. This one hurts a bit. R.I.P.

This was probably his most popular song:
