That's fucked up.

Boss obviously didn't like the employee from the beginning... Was looking for the slightest reason to get rid of.

People at work ARE NOT your friends.

You CAN be friendly with them, but they can and will blow up your spot if you open yourself to it.

Stop adding coworkers AND managers to your Facebook/IG accounts.

I think the worker has a wrongful termination case then
Wrongful Termination Suit.... Easy Money

Not if he lives in a "Right to work" state, if I understand correctly.

Can't the boss just text you "I don't like your face, fuck off"?

I think the only protection is that they can't be explicit for firing you for being a member of a protected class-- i.e. "Saw your new LGBT relationship, good luck with the job hunt," "saw you like Allah, time to talk to him about finding work" or "nice ancestry report from 23 & me, clean out your desk."

1. He wasn't on the clock
2. He never mentioned the job or location

I don't see how the post has any correlation with him being fired...

If he had posted the meme while at work on company time, then that's another story.

Whether you can be fired for no reason, when you did nothing wrong, depends on your employment status and specifically on whether you are an at-will employee. In most of the United States, employees are generally considered “at will” employees. At-will means that you or your employer can terminate your job on a moment's notice for any reason, whether good, bad, indifferent or for no reason at all. The law in most states presumes that an employee is at-will unless the employee can prove otherwise. This means that unless the termination violates federal or state law, company policies, or an implied contract, there is very little that an at-will employee can do to protest a termination without a reason.

The real story here is the dangers of a corporate police state where workers have to watch what they say in any form and have no rights or protections.

True!!! The corporate policing has been going on for decades. People are just wising up to whats been going on around them for years.. The thing is, people dont wanna hear or believe shit, until its slapping them in the face!!

I think this is BS but I am torn.... (Not about this situation)

You do not have to go online talking shit about your job, or boss. Tell your friends, wife, husband etc. at this point when I see someone who is cancerous that I pay I dont want them to be there. If they online talking shit I would probably watch them closely and eventually get rid of them because there work performance would probably be sub par anyway. If your employee was online talking wish about you and your performance they would be getting sued left and right. Im playing devils advocate but still come on.

Sometimes I look at social media and it reminds me of like 6-8th graders. They want the freedom, respect and freedom of adults but when convenient want to be treated like a child...... There are repercussions, positive and negative for anything you post. When I speak to entrepreneurs I tell them post as if your grandmother is going to see it and ask what you mean...
Get off social media and go live. Dont like your job, find another one, go start a biz, something...

I don't do fb but I heard someone say something real smart once, which was that you should preemptively block your job and everyone you work with to minimize bullshit like this.

If it's even real.

As a result, you would also lose out on the ability to network and be limited in making/maintaining certain social connections.

Sounds like advice that is good in some instances, bad in others and, most importantly, accepts a status quo that should not exist.

If it's even real.

This new board is shitty for linking to comments, there are a few I linked to for verification but when I sent the post, the links there gone and the top post was repeated several times.

Bullshit. How much networking and social connection do you do on Instagram and Facebook? You work at the muthafucka, network and connect while yo ass is in the office.

And it's not accepting shit either, it's mitigation. Nor does that approach preclude one from being an activist against said status quo, should one decide to take on the yeoman's work that is campaigning against it through using it.

Come on now

:smh:

You should ask for elaboration before calling bullshit. You clearly did not pay much attention to or understand the word "maintaining."

I've lived in many places and worked in many place. Most millennials do not stay tied down to one job for long. There are more people who I keep connections with online than off.

Ok so you one of those huh

I ain't gotta ask for shit, articulate your fucking thoughts better, or learn how to be wrong about a thing without it hurting your vagina

While you talking about paying attention, why don't you pay the fuck attention to the part where i said block who you work with. If you no longer work with them, the need to block them is gone. I didn't say block muhfuckas you don't work with anymore, did I, fucking pay attention face?

I don't give two fucks how many places you've lived or worked, I said what the fuck I said. You think you the only muhfucka who's moved around? Foh

Your response is pretty ridiculous given the subject. I could explain further but I won't. A perfectly articulated thought won't get through to every person. Go ahead and block everybody you work with, continue to enjoy your obviously wonderful existence and being such a joyful person. (Or maybe learn to have a conversation without sounding like you have Tourette's.)
