With the informant programs on 100 and surveillance technology the way it is now i doubt this country sees another drug dealer come from nothing to meech status.
Some people outright refuse to be average. The 9-to-5, barely making ends meet, hoping for a yearly pay vacation life is just not possible for some people. It would make them miserable.

Unfortunately, selling drugs (or if you're a woman, selling pussy) is the easiest way to leave the square life behind and make life a party. You make more money than ya square peers and live life on your own terms and perhaps even 'work' on your own terms. It involves risking your life or freedom, or if you're a sex worker, you're basic self respect and dignity, but to them it's worth it. It's better than being ordinary.
But I don't think they think into their 50s, 60s or 70s. They only care about today.

The reason why I take treads like this very personal, is because when I was younger my boy, who was one of the smartist kats I knew, he was from Trinidad, and was a nerd, and with in a year Dude was like running the whole projects. He reminded me of Alpo, down to the way he looked and mannerism.
Well anyways me and him was like Batman and Robin, he gave me the Batman role because I was the one putting him on to the hood.
At first it was nothing but fun and games, going to the clubs banging a few hoes, you know what it is. We were more like the players, but was cool with the drug dealers and the killers around the way. Soon everyone wanted to hang with us, thats when my boy Al gears started spinning in his head.
Next thing I knew it he told me about his scheme of opening drug spots all over, from crown heights to coney island. Now any who knows anything about Brooklyn at the time, would know that shit was impossible, because they had the Jamacian kats, holding down flatbush along with them Trini boys. Then there was the American thugs who was more for self.
Well Al had the Trini massive on lock, and all ready was doing his thing out in east Flatbush, and he had mad Jamacians ready to work for him, all he needed was my people for the final piece.
He finally told my his plan, like I said dude was very smart, a strait A student before he started fucking up. His plan was for both him and I to be the bosses and never step foot in any spot, we had our boy "C" who was supposed to be the General, and in charge of the operations, and we had every goon in the hood ready to put in work for us.
Before I could say yes. Some of the biggest killers I know was calling me boss.
According to the plan we was going to go hard for a year or two, then take our money and flip it into real-estate, leaving "C" in charge.
I thought long and hard, it was a very difficult decision due to the fact that my Moms was dead, and my Pops wasn't doing shit for me, plus I didn't have shit going on in my life.
But Al said something that I'd always remember, he said fuck them Niggaz they are nothing but flunkies and we are the real bosses with brains, in other words he didn't have any respect for my people that I grew up with.
And I thought if he could think that way about them how long would it take for him to shit on me.
But then again I was a Boss (leader) not a follower, so I made my own decision.
Later on I enrolled in College, (some what thinking I wasn't cut out for it) but later on I realized that I've always been a free thinker, and the same way I was able to survive the streets with my brain, I was able to readjust it and use it in school.
Oh by the way my boy Al started messing with coke got fucked up in the game, arrested and deported back to Trinidad, I dont know if he is dead or alive, but the last time I saw him, dude was missing a tooth, and lost all of his swagg.
The moral to the story is, life is a marathon not a sprint, and it can be unforgiving and humbling, though no one wins in the game of life, the ones who understands the important of being humble and respecting other people tend to get respected back and live a much better life, than the greedy and the ones who have little respect for fellow mankind.
And fuck what the fuck boys try to tell you, there is more to life than being an absolute loser or a square, life is what you put into it, what you make it. If you act fucked up, sure you are going to see the world as a fucked up place. But if you become positive, then that will attract other positive people, and live will become much more richer and robust.
