NYC and our other large cities will be fine as they are highly vaccinated. I think the real issues will occur when some of the low vaccination rate areas rush to
open it up despite their low vaccination rates and with no plan for the inevitable with the hospitals etc.
Now that the Omicron wave has come down, look at the final numbers for NYC. Look at how few people overall remain unvaccinated (

)...
And look at how overrepresented the few remaining unvaccinated (blue line) are in terms of hospitalizations

Example #999 of why this shit isn't a "personal" choice. Don't forget that We are the primary group impacted when the hospitals get overwhelmed as a good % of Us still use the ER for primary care.
This shit would have been over a long time ago but for the unvaccinated. The cycle will continue unless we actually have some sort of accountability for them. It seems insane to me that we are one of the only
Western Democracies with no plan for dealing with them but want to mimic the actions of countries with sensible plans/high vaccination rates.
