At the end of the day the film was aight.and yes sir u r correct...but was able to watch it with the lady.

If I got thru that French film irreversible this was a cakewalk...

Not the gay defender...jus an independent film watcher..
The film was rated extremely high on several web review sites

Somebody just said he "gave a hand job" on the beach. That right there eliminates it as a film I'd watch. I'm pretty progressive/liberal but I'm just not into seeing gay films. Never seen Brokeback Mountain and avoided Oz from the time I saw gay shit going on...

I saw it opening weekend and it was nothing but white people in there, I was the only black person. I found that interesting.

The only sexual scene was the teen giving a handjob to the other on the beach. Other than that, nothing by unspoken homosexual chemistry. *shrugs*

Movie was put out by Brad Pitts Film Company and I think Julia Roberts produced it. The film was good quality production.
They can't have a strong black man agenda. It's out of me some light in the loafers gay shit that they can push so we look less than strong. I see it, to tell you the truth I see it far too often

Yea, the only strong somewhat positive character was the drug dealer.

Still, I think we should support black films.
I downloaded Fences, and tomorrow I'm going to drive by the movie theater and drop $10 and walk away

I will say that the acting was superb, especially the young guys that were casted as teens.

Yeah I'm a little ticked off that in order to have a career in Hollywood you gotta do some gay stuff. SMH

Denzel, Michael B Jordan, Donald Glover and many others hasn't done anything gay. They are pushing the gay agenda on us in many other ways tho-partically in Hip Hop.

I remember me and my business partner was having a discussion about this and he's an actor as well. He said that if you notice if it's not gay stuff you gotta wear a dress or dress like a woman to get notice as a good actor then your career takes off. Especially black and latino actors.

Flip Wilson, Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo, Tyler Perry, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Ving Rhames, Arsenio Hall and the list goes on. SMH

Saw it today. Pretty good movie. The crackhead mom hit me in my soul because I remember growing up with peers that had drugged out parents. I remember how embarrassing and upsetting it was to see their faces when the parents would make an appearance high as shit on crack.

Another great moment was Ali's character 's realization of how dealing drugs was actually hurting the person he was trying to look after.

So homo handjobs and/or men in drag (i.e. Perry flicks) is the criteria for guaranteed success of a black movie these days? :smh:

Man save your gas. It's 2017, download the app for Fandango, AMC, Cinemark, Regal...you get it, whatever you use and just buy your ticket on the app. Fandango's app even includes your rewards card.

I hate it to tell you the truth. I hate how they are trying to make it seem like gay people are a majority in a way and are in all aspects of everyone's life when I only know 2, I would say 3 but the one is dating a guy now.

These motherfuckers act like you can't throw a rock from your window without hitting a gay person and they are everywhere

Can we have movie that don't have gay people or push the gay agenda? Can we have black movies that don't have anything to do with the hood?

Incredible acting by all those 3 that played little, Chiron and black
Juan was a show stopper.
Janelle I'm going to marry her.
Struggled with LIFE in the movie and not fitting in anywhere.
Just really well done. He never even said much but his emotions said them all.
Lots of empathy from Juan one of the least likely places you'd expect and in turn when he had a chance to start over, he wanted to be just like Juan
shit was a really good movie.

When I saw the trailer I thought it was something totally different. When I went to see it I was disappointed. I wasn't expecting a movie about a down-low young brotha. There's a movie called "KICKS", it was what I thought MOONLIGHT was going to be. Kicks was a good movie. Had I known I would not have went to see MoonLight, but that's jus me.

I ended up watching this shit because of all the names in it. I turned it off at the beach scene because it wasnt that good of a movie for me to watch the gay shit. If I really thought the first half was that good, I would have just kept watching. So, this movie is about some young black dude in Florida whose mom is a crackhead. He's always getting teeased by the other kids and they're calling him gay and a fag for no reason. Then some random drug dealer, who happens to be the guy serving his mother, finds him in an abandoned house, takes him home and he becomes part of the family. Then he didn't know if he was gay or not and he ends up messing with his other friend who acts like he is fucking all these hoes but he's gay too? The fuck is the point of this movie? And personally, I didn't think the acting was all that amazing. It wasn't bad. Janelle Monae was cool. The lady that plays his mom is cool....I forgot her name she's in a lot of shit. Otherwise.....this was just some weird ass movie. Didn't see the end though so I can't judge that.

Movie was just ehhhhh to me. I liked Fences and Hidden Figures a whole hell of a lot more. In addition to Hell Or High Water.

if niggaz can watch the The Wire and accept Omar Little's role.....(and the nigga became one of the favorite characters on the show)....
then they wont have a problem with watching this.
Ole girl played that crackhead role good tho......

No comparison

There was the gay undertone the WHOLE movie. Faggotry wasn't the basis of The Wire. Omar just happen to be gay. This movie was based around him being a fag, dealing with it and fitting in.

One part of this movie I didn't like was how stereotypical it was.

Like dude just staring at him and wanting to beat him up for no reason. They should have set it up better. They picked on him because they felt he was soft. Not necessarily because they thought he was gay. They called him a faggot because of that, not because they thought he was gay. When I was seven I didn't know what gay was.

Also how do you just get rid or Remy aka Cottonmouth with no explanation.

Do you ever notice that the worst image we have in a movie the more highly acclaimed it is and the more the critics rave about it?

sort of like how white people love shit like

Patriot's Day, Sully, Deepwater Horizon

If this movie was just a normal inner city movie it would be mediocre as hell(I think it still is), but add the gay thug shit and people like it

The beach scene was the only gay thing. You'll be good after that if it made you uncomfortable.

Watched it on Exodus. It was just okay. I was only offended by all of the hype surrounding the flick leading me to believe that it was a really good film. And yeah, how the fuck you just don't explain Remy's departure like Crave from Family Matters? Also, is this really a Black film or a film featuring Black actors?
