Should i read the books before i watch this series?

Im starting from square 1, dont know anything about it.

Not really. Witcher 3 has an option to simulate the main plot points from Witcher 2, and the game will reference who died, what happened etc... Based on what you choose. I hadn't played 2 before I played 3 so I just picked whatever. But the story telling and character development more than flesh out the main events of Witcher 2. I tried to go back and play Witcher 2, but that shit didnt age well at all. I've read a few chapters of 1 book. But it was also after I had finished 3. Just give 3 a solid playthrough, try no to skip sidequests as most of them give detail into characters and if you see a timer when picking choices, it's important and will change how your game proceeds 1 way or another.

can't wait... the game was awesome.. great story and great story telling

I wonder how where they will pick the story up because the game has several endings
