The talent deficiency on the lines needs to be addressed. The heat that Poles is feeling due to the bargain bin shopping regarding the offensive line and the defensive line is justified. The chaos regarding the coaching staff is on him too. 50/50 on him and Eberflus IMO.

I don't see the point of letting him go when the lines (talent and depth) can and will likely will be properly addressed this off season.

The run defense is absolute shit without Billings

Shit is tough to watch in real time though.

The run defense was shit with Billings lol, they've been terrible all year on run defense. Last year they were like #1 or 2 in run defense.

D.J. Moore's average per catch may end up under 9 yards per when the season is done. He's about 10ypc now. That's awful for a young wr with speed. 4.8 guys can get you 10ypc.

I'm tired...this losing every week drains you..... I was hoping Brown could give us a spark......but him and the rest of this coaching staff is gone after the season is over....
Silver lining???
Better draft pick....
New coaching staff....
Lots of cap space to get good players...

It's so many problems on our team right now. Another fucking inept first half. I did like some of Brown's play calls at times. Swift looked good for a drive that was ruined by Kramer.

Does Keenan normally drop this many balls, because he had about three in his hands last night. Then you had that one to Rome in the endzone.

Amajedie :smh: First of all he played at Yale, and now he's in the NFL. He barely played in college his last year, and he had no training camp and missed half of this season....and you make him a starter.

Shit, we're going to need another CB also with the way Stevenson has looked since Washington. It looks like he's lost his confidence. The one thing he had last year was confidence. Maybe he realized he's going to be picked on opposite Jaylon.

We have money, but we have one....one starter lined up for next year on our line....Darnell....and a lot of other teams need lineman, and do we trust Poles after Pryor, Borom, Davis, Shelton, Carter...

and I keep telling you all, you watch a Eagles game and you hear Jalen Carter's name called during it...meanwhile Poles told us about character while he trades for Claypool and Nate Davis. The fact it's coming out Poles was warned about Nate Davis laziness and thought he could change him

I didn't realize we had also interviewed Minnesota's black GM for our GM opening....in fact every GM who has gotten a job that we interviewed has been better than Poles.

Vent over.

Damn. In the past 15 years, look how horrible out 3rd round draft picks have been:

Since Lance, Montgomery, Wright and Conte as the only starters

I guess Bennett, because he did start at times, but he wasn't that good

So in 20 years really only Lance and David who we let go, before a second contract. In fact I think Lance is the only one who made it past their rookie contract.

Past 2 games I haven't bothered watching any of the pressers. I agree it's all bad rn, we just need to get this season over honestly. Hopefully they get an upset win or at least look decent at the remaining home games. But even when one thing goes OK, another part breaks:

- WR open, Caleb misses him
- Caleb makes an on time throw, WR drops it
- Kmet makes a play, they never go back to him
- They finally go to Kmet, he has a drop
- We have a long sustained drive to the 1 yd line and start moving backwards
- Defense forces a TO, Offense goes 3 and out
- Offense gets going and finally scores, Def lets the opp turn right around and drive the entire field for a score
- Def finally gets a sack and backs the opp O up into a long yardage situation, DC calls the softest coverage ever and we give up a 3rd and Forever
- When the game plan is sound, the players don't execute... When certain players get hot, the coaches don't scheme to use them regularly and correctly

On and on and on. And everyone is playing a part. It's player eval, coaching, decision making, scheming, personnel, talent and lack of confidence in the system as a whole.

I don't know what the exact answer is, but that's what the people in charge get paid for. They need some holistic changes that reflect the fact that this is a professional football team. I think they need to stress the fuck out of: toughness, professionalism, and building confidence and positive momentum in everything they do. And move forward with the mindset that if you're not going to be ruthless in your pursuit of that, you're going to get eaten alive in this league and in this division. And if not, you don't deserve to be here.

Man....I figured Vrabel might be a Bears type of coach
I hope our type going fwd is simply "a winner". And hope we don't get too caught up in our own narratives. I just want a dude that wins in this division over any of that other outside stuff.

If Vrabel can bring along Josh McDaniels and a good offensive line coach like Mike Munchak, it's not the worst idea.

The reason that I'm unopposed to this scenario is that McDaniels is a good OC (at least he was in NE, could be the Brady effect though). The likelihood of him getting another head coaching job is slim to none. The need for a consistent voice (and system) in the room during Caleb's formative years is paramount. Munchak is a Hall of Fame player and he did a good job in Pittsburgh as OL coach.
Ideally, I'd love to see the Bears bring in Bill Callahan as OL coach, but he's on his son's staff in Tennessee.

I felt that the defense would take too long to rebuild but after seeing the level of effort, lack of discipline and just bad play in the past couple of games, maybe a change in system and a new voice that brings instant accountability is what the team needs. Poles has ties to Scott Pioli a former NE guy as well so this idea isn't that far fetched.

I also like the idea of Ben Johnson as HC with Dennis Allen as DC.

The team needs an all star coaching STAFF. My definition of that is pairing the HC with coaches that have a history of performing and coaching up talent.

I'd also like to see the Bears get away from hiring Trace Armstrong's clients.

Guys are mailing it in because the season was completely mismanaged from a coaching perspective. Expecting to hire Harbaugh was a pipe dream. Harbaugh and Warren didn't get along going back to Harbaugh's time at Michigan and Harbaugh's wife wanted to go back to Cali.

Expecting Thomas Brown to be able to turn this around with 2/3 of the season gone and the majority of the coaching staff working under another coaches system on offense and defense was a tall order.

Pace got the chance to hire two coaches. Pace mortgaged the future for the present. Poles had to rebuild the team from that fuck up. The talent he has acquired is better (except for lines) than than what we as fans have seen. Poles deserves to have a hot seat for the talent and lack of depth on the lines. With competent coaching, this team as assembled is in the playoff hunt.

Putting that aside, can Kevin Warren seriously expect a big name coach and staff to come in with a lame duck GM? Warren either needs to let Poles do his job or let him go. This isn't a clean house situation, it's a finish the job (of rebuilding).

Poles needs an extension that is aligned with the length of the contract of the next HC he hires if he wants credibility throughout the interview and hiring process.

The questions asked and concerns being voiced are tough and valid. The status quo is insufficient and this season was a wasted opportunity.

Caleb's inconsistency has been a bit concerning. But given how terribly the season has gone from a coaching POV, he hasn't been bad. Just ineffective for stretches, which isn't the same as bad. Once and for all we need a coach that aligns with the type of team the Bears want to be. Don't get a defensive coach of you're also not gonna spend the bread to help hire a great OC. All that leader of men shit is cute and all. But if it means another terrible OC with the QB and WRs on the squad then we'll be right back here in 2 years.

It's bad enough to have to reset again with new coaches.....but fuck, our division is tough as fuck...even if we improve next year, we still may be in last place again. :smh:

As for free agents this year on the interior o-line there are a bunch of former Bears who are about to be free agents with James Daniel being chief among them. But Trey Smith from KC has to be the focus there. Josh Myers and Drew Dalman are 2 starting centers who will be free agents.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like the team will get into the Top 5 because Mason Graham of Michigan would be a good possibility with a high enough pick. Those Georgia pass rushers have to be possibilities as well since there's no consensus tackle that's considered to be close to a sure thing.

“Losing, it’s one of those things that actually really affects me. It’s tough. But I do have the understanding of where I’m at in my career and where I'll be at…So, having all that in mind, there’s a lot to be optimistic and positive about, because I’m not my best self yet, and that’s soon to come. I’m working towards that every day, and going to keep working towards that."

Harbaugh wasn't taking the Bears job over the Chargers with talent already on the roster that had people thinking they were a playoff team in the preseason, a proven QB locked in, a Top 5 pick and Cali weather awaiting him
I have to disagree with you my friend, according to several reports, Harbaugh was definitely interested in the Bears but Kevin Warren axed it. Last offseason Dave Kaplan said his sources told him Harbaugh was interested in the Bears job. The Bears never made any attempt to contact Harbaugh at all because they were all in on Eberflus. Hell I don't think they reached out to any other coach either. They are an inept organization! I heard Bezos was interested in buying the team, I wish to gawd they would sell lol.

They are also reports that Belichick was interested before he took the NC job. I mean even if you are not going to hiring him, I'd still have a conversation with him and the Bears never did.

I'm not going to copy and paste the whole article because it Colin-esque but this stood out to me:

“Anthony had a very complex system that just didn’t mesh with what Jared was good at,” said Bears long snapper Scott Daly, who was with the Lions at the time. “And Ben came in midseason with Dan to take over the play calling and he’s very much, ‘I’m going to adapt to who we have, their strengths.’ Things just changed to where he was able to figure out Jared, how are we going to maximize this and get the ball out and spread it around. Even during that season when we didn’t have a ton of guys and weapons, we were able to make a big difference. Now that they’ve added a lot of talent and weapons, he’s definitely made a difference for them.”

Said Bears running back D’Andre Swift, who was in Detroit from 2020-22: “Him and JG (Goff) had a great relationship. He made it simple for the guys and put them in position to go ahead and play free and showcase their talents. Everybody in the league can see the way they play over there. He is a great offensive mind.”

Nobody had a conversation with Belichick last season either other than the Falcons. What would a conversation with Belichick do if chances are that you aren't going to hire him? Considering that Belichick would want control beyond just being the coach he wasn't likely to be hired. He took the UNC job and brought his boy Michael Lombardi with him there to be the GM. Lombardi the guy who called the Montez Sweat trade idiotic yet during his career traded Randy Moss to the Patriots for a 4th round pick.
Harbaugh may have been interested and apparently he and Warren have a sorted history. But he's not taking the Bears job if the Chargers job is also his to take.
As for ownership the team could use better owners but that can be said about every team in Chicago. And we'd have to see if Bezos would be a good owner who would be willing to spend money but also stay out of the way.
At the end of the day we're going to have our disagreements but we all want to see the team become a legit contender like they were for years in the 80's and I don't think that any of us give 2 fucks how they do it as long as they do it.
