A$AP Rocky Released From Swedish Jail Pending Verdict

A$AP Rocky has been freed from jail in Sweden, pending a final verdict on his assault case. According to TMZ, not only is he able to leave jail, but he can even leave Sweden until the final verdict is announced on August 14. The rapper and his two friends have been in Swedish custody for about one month after getting in a fight on the streets of Stockholm. Prosecutors recommended a six-month sentence, specifically because of the bottle Rocky allegedly used as a weapon. His lawyer countered that the size and shape of the bottle are not consistent with the victim’s wounds, as they’d be much worse. Rocky does admit to picking up the bottle, but not to using it. Two witnesses backed that up. During this week’s trial, the rapper maintained his innocence, citing self-defense and that the alleged victim provoked him. His mother was in the courtroom when they announced he would be let out and, according to TMZ, onlookers cheered. A$AP Rocky celebrated his release with a Instagram post thanking his supporters, and thanking the Swedish court. Tyler, the Creator, YG, Big Sean, and more commented with their congrats.
The case was further complicated by Donald Trump’s response earlier this month. He released a video statement, tweeted, and sent Robert O’Brien — the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs — to attend day one of the trial, per the Associated Press.
The prosecutors said the U.S. embassy demanded to have Rocky and his friends held in a hotel instead. They denied the request and added that no other country has ever intervened in that way.
Trump got involved after Kim Kardashian West, budding defense lawyer, reached out to him, Jared Kushner, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
And it seems Trump’s very excited about today’s outcome.

(AllHipHop News) A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage have been released from custody after spending a month behind bars following a street fight in Stockholm, Sweden.
Senior District Court Judge Per Lennerbrant set the trio free on Friday at the end of a three-day trial, while announcing he would start sentencing on August 14.
U.S. leader Donald Trump was one of the first people to celebrate the rapper’s release, tweeting: “A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden. It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”

As Friday’s proceedings wound down, A$AP Rocky offered to perform six months of community service in Sweden in return for his release.
Swedish prosecutors called on lawmakers to keep the star, real name Rakim Mayers, behind bars for six months for his part in an alleged beatdown of 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari, prompting the jailed rapper to tell the court he would be willing to perform community service if that was his sentence.
“I’m into charity work,” he said, urging the judge overseeing his case to set him free on bail, stating, “You know my address, you know my lawyer’s address.”
The rap star and two members of his entourage were caught on camera beating up the alleged victim and they have been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
All three pleaded not guilty and Rocky claimed he was acting in self-defense after his bodyguard was attacked.

Here's what'll happen. He'll be found guilty, but the Swedes won't be able to do shit cause he's back home in the States and Trump won't extradite. Therefore, he'll be wanted in the country.....never to return to Sweden.

That's an interesting theory. I think they'll find him innocent but I like this angle. Either way, yeah he ain't going back. But not being able to travel ANYWHERE in tbe EU is a major hit. He doesn't NEED to your there, but that's a lot of money, and for a guy deeply entrenched in fashion like him, that's a tall order. Maybe they find him guilty of something minor that equates to time served.

You're right, he is HEAVILY into fashion and those travel restrictions would def affect his pockets. I can see the time served for a lesser offense angle as well. Almost as a way to save face if nothing else.

I actually think the swedish judicial system is better than the US. (I've dealt with both). No bails system, Speedy trials, and no crazy sentences. Couple artists got caught with a few kilos...2 years. Murder.. maybe 5 to 10. Tax fraud is the shit that Will get you 10+ . If u kill a bunch of kids or just a menace to society, they'll give you that indefinite..that's life I guess
And prison isn't the worst thing in the world and they actually try to rehabilitate. They serve nice food and the facilities are clean. I've even seen a few with recording studios.
