Don't agree at all. This has been predicted for years. YEARS. Most recently, about 6 months ago, Joe Rogan was speaking with an LA firefighter who was talking about just this. Trump and others were being critical about preparation in 2018, six years ago. And believing in climate change is a meaningless phrase, as I don't see many saying that the climate isn't changing, but how and why. Climate change has become a religious belief among many influential people, and is used as a god of the gaps. I strongly believe that this is being bandied about to deflect from the clear failure of preparation. Also, I predict that at least one of the fires were set intentionally, as many of the recent fires have been.

Yes, our disaster preparedness is nowhere near where it needs to be.

About a month ago there was a tsunami just North of San Francisco and the government called for an evacuation of the coastline. Problem was, they didn't tell anyone where to go or how to get there. We also discovered that the tsunami warning sirens were deactivated years ago.

Thankfully nothing bad happened, but if the worst case scenario had come about thousands of people would have needlessly lost their lives, including most of downtown Oakland.

When I was in elementary school every October was fire awareness month. They sent firefighters to the school to discuss basic prevention, and how to leave a building when it's on fire.

We need a disaster awareness month that prepares us for the same thing. We also need to establish community safe zones where survivors can receive aid and shelter. Right now everyone's first response is to hop in their cars and drive out of town which makes the problem even worse.

The first guy they arrested, they let go, because of "lack of evidence", even though there's footage of him using a blowtorch to start the fire and citizens holding him until the cops arrived. They showed the cops the blowtorch and the footage. "Lack of evidence" my ass! That dude was probably a fucking cop sent in to cause chaos, just like that cop in Minnesota that was smashing windows during the BLM protests.
