Gibberish! According to krs1 this is nothing but gossip and slander. Never mind all the voices that have confirmed this. To him its nothing but sensationalism. This dude is a piece of shit. The only thing him and the rest of them are concerned about is their bottom line. Pun intended. Who in their right mind tries to spin child molestation???

This is the same guy that said Bam stopped the gang wars in the South Bronx by himself, even though there is documented proof to the contrary.

I feel you.

It's KRS' right to consider this gossip and slander. He isn't trying to spin molestation.

All this fire pointed at KRS would be better utilized in the fight to change the statute of limitations on rape.

That has always been where I am. I just don't follow group outrage. This is one sticky subject yet for every case you have to consider chance that allegations are not true. If you follow that logic then focus needs to be on encouragement and empowerment to victims.

I'm not trying to spin anything playa, I just see KRS words for what they are. He is being killed for not condemning Bambatta while obviously stating he considers this allegation. Group think and emotion are creating anti KRS outrage while the statute of limitations takes a back seat.

My opinion....too bad these charges can't be applied to Bam in court of law. Any adult who steals the innocence of a youth should be dealt with via "eye for an eye".

Are you asking if I think they are true? I will never know. When there is smoke there is likely fire. I also keep in mind as recently displayed by the Duke Lacrosse case that sometimes accusations are not true.

Incorrect. He is not being killed for not condemning Bambatta. He is being killed for saying he does not give a fuck, and for comparing a nigga that he hangs with that has warrants on him, with a fucking child molester. The shit is not speculation any more, the shit is fact. Not only does he have victims accusing him, but he has members of his own organization confirming it.

I think KRS needs to stop writing these Colin inspired diatribes and just simplify his BS with " I didn't mean what I said but Bam is my friend so I will keep quiet until he is/is not proven to be or admits to being a paedo"...KRS has made himself sound even more suspicious with that long ass text.I thought he was smarter than that,SMH.

Just say No comment. KRS does not have to try and preserve hip hop vs some evil shit Bambatta allegedly did. Hip hop has grown bigger than one man

It does require the analysis of pedophilia in the early beginnings of the culture and how many people appear to have known and been in on these attacks, though

Still makes me cringe when I think of Mister Cee and all those questionable Biggie ass/homo references in his records.

All the jail relatives, all the hazing in gangs... All these hard body cats were fucking kids and other men...crazy shit.

Somebody is about to have a complex PHD thesis on the intersection of Black culture and what appears to be some pedo/homo undercurrent .

If folks want to burn Hestert, Jared, the Catholic Church and Sandusky...Bambatta gotta burn too, IF it's True.

Bam needs to speak on this ASAP

Molestation/sexual abuse in da black community is more prevalent than folks wanna believe and needs to be addressed.

kick him out for what..child molestation (in which case someone should have called the police)
or being gay?

why does it seem like many cats here are more concerned about the homosexuality than the molesting??

Time and time again, you've been a staunch defender of queerosexuality. What gives??? Do you have sum'n to hide???

That song "13 and good" was full of suspect lines.....Like the part where the dad catches KRS and tells him to hop on the bed...wtf? :smh:

I also think KRS is running scared now for a number of reasons (Bambata, truth about Scott la rock, etc)

If Bam gets taken down and hits that red button, alot of your favorite rappers are gonna be on suicide watch

That is the common interpretation. He stated how he personally handles judging his peers. I still feel he should have left it alone or come out strong against these crimes but people are reaching with "he compares one criminal with another". Crime is crime to KRS in his words. Just be mad that he didn't condemn Bambatta, stop interpreting his words into something you can sentence him with.

He said he does not give a fuck as the situation relates to bambattas legacy, not I don't give a duck about moleatation.

youre a fuckin moron...you think because I don't actively speak out AGAINST what a GROWN man does with another GROWN man behind closed doors I must some how support it or be gay myself. The point is I DON'T GIVE A SHIT and neither should you or anyone else. Bambatta is accused of child molestation and that should be the driving issue of the topic not his being gay.. too many assholes like YOU are more concerned with his gayness than the issue of him fucking UNDER AGE KIDS.

To be fair to KRS, I can list a few rappers and songs that have touched on those very subjects even before him with lyrics even more graphic.

It's just given the Booty Baama situation makes his lyrics come off more cringe worthy.

Afrika Bambaataa Removed As Universal Zulu Nation Leader Amid Allegations of Child Molestation

06-afrika-bambaata.w529.h529.jpg

Hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa appears to have been removed as the leader of the Universal Zulu Nation amid growing allegations of child molestation, according to an announcement from the organization. Last month, Ronald Savage, a former New York State Democratic Committee member, accused Bambaataa of sexually abusing him in 1980, when Savage was 15 years old.

Since then, three more men have come forward with similar allegations: A man named Hassan Campbell told the New York Daily News that Bambaataa repeatedly sexually abused him when Campbell was 12 and 13, calling the DJ a "pervert" who "likes little boys." Two other men whose identities were not fully disclosed also say Bambaataa abused them when they were minors — a former bodyguard also claims Bambaataa abused "hundreds" of young boys since the early 1970s. Bambaataa has denied all of the allegations.

Initially, the Universal Zulu Nation (which Bambaataa founded in the '70s) defended their leader, calling the accusations a "government-sponsored media attack." But in a press release issued on Friday, the organization now says it is significantly restructuring its leadership. Despite not mentioning Bambaataa by name, they note: "ALL accused parties and those accused of covering up the current allegations of child molestation have been removed and have stepped down from their current positions." The Zulu Nation also calls public scrutiny — including from Talib Kweli — over how the organization has handled the allegations "trial by social media." Read their full statement below:

The Universal Zulu Nation wishes to announce that it is currently under new leadership by the International and Regional U.S. Zulu Leaders. This will involve a significant restructure and will feature an in-depth re-assessment of how the organization will function to better serve our communities. As part of this restructure ALL accused parties and those accused of covering up the current allegations of child molestation have been removed and have stepped down from their current positions.

Over the coming months there will be significant changes to the organization in terms of roles, structure and establishing the policies any organization of our size should have in place. There shall also be a new move to work towards providing support for victims of abuse, rape and molestation and working more closely on other social issues existing in communities such as drug addiction, alcoholism and mental health.

We are saddened by current events. Not only because of the trial by social media of which we have been subjected to as an organization, but because until now the previous leaders and founders have been ineffective at being able to respond in a way which our members and associates deserve of us. Especially when our good work spreading the Zulu message has empowered communities worldwide. We would like to offer our sincere apologies for this.

As an organization we are in a very difficult position because we are being asked to condemn one of our founders based on testimony through social media alone. We cannot do this. We also cannot dismiss the comments of parties asserting they have been harmed. We have a duty to search for truth. We also need to be mindful that if these allegations are true that victims discussing this in a public forum has not come easily. We the Universal Zulu Nation wish to extend great sympathy to anyone affected by such issues. We know that respect and compassion need to be at the forefront of how we deal with such topics in the future, this has been a lesson in learning for us.

The public is asking for justice and we would welcome constructive suggestions on how that could be effectuated properly. At the moment it is unclear on how best to proceed, we would like to know how the claimants would like to take the matters further towards some form of resolution where the truth can be established. We can not legally speak on behalf of the parties in question in regard to the current allegations. Individuals must speak up for themselves & advice from their legal teams should be sought.

Our restructure is a positive step towards organizational change for our worldwide family of members and the great community programs they continually run which spread the message of Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun.

Afrika Bambaataa Has Been Removed As Leader Of The Universal Zulu Nation

This one goes out to all the mamas in the entire world. Following disturbing allegations sexual abuse brought against Afrika Bambaataa by three separate men now, The Universal Zulu Nation, a grassroots organization that Bambaataa himself helped to found in the mid-seventies, has removed the hip-hop pioneer as a leader in the outfit. According to a press release from UZN, the organization announced that “it is currently under new leadership by the International and Regional U.S. Zulu Leaders,” with the intention of restructuring and promising significant changes to its administration in the months ahead. Bambaataa is never named in the release, but that is hardly necessary given how highly-publicized the claims have been over the last few weeks, which has left many of us in sheer disbelief and alarm.

It’s been a grueling thing to watch on unravel, but we’re glad that UZN has finally spoken up and taken a definitive stance on the matter. The future is still uncertain for Bambaataa, particularly in regards to what will come of all these allegations, but we certainly hope that justice is served and swiftly, at that.

In the midst of allegations that he molested children, Afrika Bambaataa has reportedly been removed as a leader of the Universal Zulu Nation. The organization made the announcement that it is "under new leadership" on its official website today (May 6).

Bambaataa is not named in the statement, but the Nation says that all people who are accused and who assisted in covering up accusations have either stepped down on their own or have been dismissed.

The Nation has previously defended the Hip Hop pioneer, saying that those who have accused him of molestation were spreading defamatory rumors about Bambaataa. He has denied any wrongdoing.

The Universal Zulu Nation's statement dismissing Afrika Bambaataa is as follows:

Following abuse allegations, hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa has been removed as a leader of his organization, the Universal Zulu Nation.

Since initial allegations from New York State Democratic Committee member Ronald Savage in March, which accused Afrika Bambaataa of child molestation, three more men have come forward with similar stories. This week, Bambaataa’s former bodyguard Shamsideen Shariyf Ali Bey talked to ex-Hot 97 radio host Troi Torain (better known as Star) and backed up the claims, saying: “There’s always a boy in his house.”

Today, the Universal Zulu Nation, an organization that Bambaataa established in the 1970s, issued a press release that announced it “is currently under new leadership”. While Bambaataa is never mentioned by name, the document addresses the claims and assures that “there will be significant changes to the organization” including “a new move to work towards providing support for victims of abuse, rape and molestation and working more closely on other social issues existing in communities such as drug addiction, alcoholism and mental health.”

The organization claims they have been put in a “difficult position” because they are being asked to condemn one of their founders “based on testimony through social media alone”. But that the restructuring is a “positive step towards organizational change for our worldwide family of members and the great community programs they continually run which spread the message of Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun.”
