Police didn't convict the racists because they said it was self defense. The black dude as we do see did attack first, he ran on the opposite side of the truck then came to the side where that dude was with the shotgun. I don't know what prompted him to attack that dude with a loaded shotgun, maybe he felt cornered, maybe dude called him a ******, I just don't know. But it "appears" he could've kept running. Either way, he looked like a jogger not a thief. They incited a situation, but in the eyes of the law, the black dude attacked them and lost.
