Just like all the CGI blood splatter gun shot wounds you see nowadays, they are going to start using CGI muzzle flashes and sound effects.

That shit might look a bit off for a while, but I'm sure Hollywood will be able to master the visuals soon enough.
Wakaliwood already doing it,they just need to perfect it

Alec Baldwin was wielding a vintage Colt pistol when it accidentally went off. It is not known who loaded the weapon and why it went off as a replacement crew was brought in the day of the incident (The gun pictured above is a vintage Colt pistol manufactured between 1873-92. While the exact model of the gun used is unknown, Rust is set in the 1880s)

After cinematographer is killed on the “Rust” movie set, why the focus is now on the assistant director and armorer

The conversation among Hollywood production workers centers on Dave Halls and the role of the first assistant director on the set of "Rust." The shooting has also put focus on armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was in charge of the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

I bet what really happened is that he and the cinematographer were arguing about something on set, then Alec said something like"If this gun wasnt a prop i'd blow your head off!!!" then pointed it at her and pulled the trigger

I can't remember what the source was, but there was at least one account floating around that amounted to saying that Baldwin was horsing around basically did something along these lines. If true, even with whatever else may have gone on, he should definitely be accountable for that.

(But again, I don't have a confirmed source for that. I'm sure there are all sorts of rumors floating around with the actual truth right now.

All depends on the 11 year old. As a child I hunted at that age and have friends who kids have their own rifles and shotguns at that age....what matters is what they are taught.

And that is the question that no one is answering, and that I have been asking since the first day...'why was he pointing the gun at her'. She was not an actress so under what circumstances could the gun been pointed at her???

I heard and explanation this morning that could be plausible and that is that they were shooting a scene where the gun was being fired at the camera lens....and I can visualize that shot on screen, because I realize I have seen it before and it would also explain how the cinematographer would be in the line of fire.

I find it amazing how many ppl keep trying to use the "oh it's a prop gun." logic as an excuse. The fact of the matter is, if it has the ability to fire then it's a real gun and should be treated as such. Respect the weapon, exercise proper gun safety and things like this won't happen.

Latest update says he was practicing his draw when it went off. Nothing wrong with practicing your draw but why was he doing it with people in the line of sight and why was his finger on the trigger? That's inexcusable negligence and violation of the most important gun safety rule.

His finger should've been outside of the trigger housing.

I agree with you 100%, but I am a gun enthusiast. You probably know how often we see pics of people holding guns and their finger is inside the trigger guard on the trigger....just to take a fucking picture.

The armorer is specifically hired for gun safety on a set. That is where the fault clearly lies. They are the one who is supposed to make sure no live rounds are EVEN ON THE SET. They are the ones responsible for making sure the actors conduct themselves in a safe manner when handling guns. They are the ones responsible for checking the gun before it is handed off to anyone.....

The armorer should assume that NO ONE on the set has gun training and work based on that premise. They should stress that ALL guns should treated as if they are loaded at ALL Times.

And like you said....prop gun doesn't mean shit..... Unless it is a 'starter pistol'; then it can shoot blanks AND bullets....there is no reason a real live round should even be on the set...NONE.

I can watch a person check a gun for safety right in front of me and then hand it to me and I will immediately recheck the weapon to satisfy myself that it is clear.....that is just how it should be done.

Yep. On every gun I own, my finger is pressed against the ejection port so I physically feel that I'm outside the trigger guard. No worries about my finger subconsciously entering the trigger guard at any time before I'm ready to fire

That shit scuffs my Timbs. I find myself watching movies and when I see the lack of finger discipline my blood immediately starts boiling. I can't even enjoy the scene from Bad Boys 2 when Will Smith's character was getting at Reggie to scare him outta the 1st date with Martin's daughter. Dude was carrying and waving around a damn Glock pistol with absolutely no fucks given. Beyond blatant disregard for gun safety. That shit was not funny to me in any way.

Thats what i heard the other morning. A director called it a cross shot. The bullet going across the camera lens. But they would set up the camera. Hit record once they have the right angle. And everyone is out of sight. The camera person should not be behind the camera when the bullet is coming at the camera.
