Diz pushed his way through Black crowds though and url audiences gave him respect.
I'm an average Black dude and to me he's said some incredible shit.
I had him and Math really close. I personally preferred Diz but I can see if people called it for Math.
At this point battling is all that Cassidy has left to get a check of any serious size. THIS one is good for the league but after that it's all a benefit for him. He better win if he wants this kinda bread again. Or at least put on a good performance. He'll never chart again.
I agree for the most part. There are some good ones. Real deal and big K are two. Oh yeah, Diz lol. Charon too. A lot of these dudes are scared of him. He raps like a white boy but he's got passion.

Funny you mention Em. He's my least favorite to listen to. I think he can rap, but I've never enjoyed any of his albums for the exact reasons you speak of lol. I never wanna hear someone rapping about killing their mom or doing drugs or his burning his baby mama or Stan - none of that shit.
Now when he did the album with Royce I was in.
I was worried about Marv going against Lotta Zay. Lotta is a problem. Marv showed up with some shit though. Best battle in This batch.

I've already watched it. This battle was GREATLY over hyped. I heard Surf's 3rd was the greatest ever, and I was hardly impressed.
I heard Holla's 1st was flawless and his best ever. I do NOT agree.
I am THOROUGHLY convinced niggas base the quality of bars off of crowd reaction. The problem is, the crowd was gassing, and they wouldn't shut up. This battle was ok, but nothing to the level that I heard.
Just one man's opinion. I'm sure someone will come behind me and say it was a crazy battle. For the record, you're not wrong, I just don't agree.

Only a round in but both 1rst rounds were dope and they were close to having a legit situation on their hands.

...and I agree the 'street' aspect does give it an edginess that CAN make battles exciting. I'm hardly a street cat, but 'niggardrous' entertainment has it's appeal at times.

This is one of those times when URL's Trailers... are BETTER than the actual battle.
Round 1 (from both) was the best part of the entire matchup.
Both 'performances' were much better than their actual bars, imo.
So in the end...this battle was very average. At best.
Plus the crowd was way 'too hype' and ruined their flow (on camera).
Damn, just let them get their bars out.... then you can 'run off at the mouth' afterwards. Knahmean?
Btw, this battle is exactly WHY I'm liking guys like T-Top and Xcel even more.
I dunno man... Pretty sure Xcel would prolly embarrass both of these dudes, at this point. (Even without much 'stage presence'.)
A 'great performance' would have no impact... against CONSISTENT punchlines, bars & lyrical 'body blows' that punish your ribs.
And T-Top and Xcel are consistent.
In other words:
- The Hitman who battled Arsonal... would beat Xcel, imo. No debating.
- But THIS version of Hitman who just battled Tsu Surf... could only win 1 round against Xcel, at most.
- And ANY version of Tsu Surf would get abused by both T-Top or Xcel, imo.

The reason you got the top tiers doing the big events is because these events are MUCH larger than what you see these new guys on, and these guys know how to work the stage.
Hitman and Surf- this is pretty much what I expected of em.
When Chilla hit that stage- he was cold.
When Will hit that stage- he aint the same.
These guys can't just win in a small room and jump right up. They need to be battling like Danny Myers- several times a year and getting their names up
Floyd aint gonna fight the guy everyone just started hearing about.
Xcel in particular- I don't think he's ready to see ANY of em on the big stage. He needs time to add some more to his game.

Mook did it a few years ago, and even though he was dope, he didn't peak like he did tonight.

I know what ya mean though... precious moments. Mook is getting his right now. He had to sit for years as a back seat to Lux, even though he beat Solomon that night. Lux performance stole the show for 2 years.
Mook seems to really have more momentum right now, especially in battle rap. I think Lux's stock has taken a hit in battle rap...
...but word on the street is, Lux is on the verge of inking a deal with a major label. He even references in two different 'freestyles' he posted in the past month or so. I remember an interview he did after the Hollow battle where he told the interviewer that he wasn't going to be unsigned for much longer. He just needed to make sure that the offer he took - apparently there were a couple - was a good fit for him, and not just something he took being too thirsty about gettin' put on.
Lux needs to start paying people, tho'. Nigga jerking the fuck out dudes he been working with.

All a deal really does is get you broader exposure and CREDIBILITY. I hate to say it, but I noticed a lot of people don't take battle rappers seriously because they're unsigned. You see how these signed artists are able to get money even Lux and Mook can't get, JUST because they're signed? Budden and Cassidy will get more than Mook, Lux, and Hollow have ever gotten for a battle.
The money is going to be made from being on the road, merchandising, etc.
Lux has low-key been making some good bread from battles and hustling merch. online and in Harlem.
