I understand what you're saying but you gotta understand most the people that's watching "Tower of God "are fans of the manhwa. They've been reading it since 2010 and been wanting an anime for it for years.
Also,you gotta take into account that "Tower of God" is considered one of the three pillars coming from Webtoons. The other two manhwas "Nobelese"(had an OVA release already) and "The God of High School" is also getting anime adaptations too. Those three manhwas have huge followings.
I won't be shocked,if more Korean comics get adapted into anime.
I get that, but alot of anime have a pre-existing manga following and they aren't necessarily hyped to this degree based off of the first episode. I still feel like Crunchyroll is marketing the shit out of it and content creators want to claim they put people on who didn't know about the web comic. So far, it's good but I don't think its earned all the hype/praise as far as the anime goes yet.
I don't know anything about it but based on the trailer I saw I'm interested in seeing GOH too.
I understand,what you're saying but Tower of God,Noblesse and The God of High School are different because they're Korean comics(manhwa) that's getting adapted by Japanese studios. And,plus Webtoons that's distributing the manhwas is on the rise because people are starting to get sick of the same formula from mangas...
Again,I'm saying wrong but I understand why people are hyping it up. It's no different than any other manga. I know it was the case for the big three back in the day(Bleach,Naruto and One Piece) even though I started reading them years later.
honestly it's a slow roll, the story gets really hype. the comic is at issue 476 and has really hit it's stride with action. this could be like one piece where at first you stick around to see where the story was going.
One Piece! I may be in the minority but One Piece is highly overrated. But, I get what you are trying to say. Most series aren't top tier right out the gate and I'm not expecting Tower of God to be by any means. I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far, but I literally saw someone say this was anime of the year. Were they being serious I don't believe so but that just shows how much it is being hyped.
I get people are fans of the web comic. But there isn't a guarantee that the anime will continue to be faithful to the comic or the overall quality will not drop. For example, I like One Punch Man season 2 but some people didn't like the change with animation. To my understanding nothing changed story wise and I don't recall hearing anyone complaining about the story for season 2 based on the web comic or manga. Season may have changed how people feel about OPM because of season .
Tower of God may very well deserve all the hype its getting. In just saying wait and see instead of hyping the series based on (at the time) 2 to 3 episodes.

On episode 7 and it’s getting interesting
I stopped watching the anime and started reading the manga. There's sooooo much fire ahead in this series that the anime not even gonna get to touch in the first season or 2nd. The story is crazy. I'm on chapter 315 right now.
Naw fam you ain’t the only one. I literally can’t stand that shit. Story goofy as fuck, characters look like a 8 yr old sketched them and the fight scenes are mediocre as fuck
I'm caught up at chap 479, take your time, don't be like me having to wait weekly for a new chapter to drop. it gets crazy good
the anime is poorly draw as its a weekly, but the story is fire, there a reason it's been on top for 20 years.
I gave up on it my first try, thinking what you did but I kept hearing people say how good it is, so I skipped a bunch of episodes in and gave it a watch and it was good, when and checked the manga, and that shit was great.
It's an ok story and alot of thought is put into the story, but just because it's a long series doesn't make it great. It just means it has an audience. Pokemon has been around for years and I can't see anyone calling it great.
I read the first half, switched over to the show and had to switch back. I only watch the show for some of the fights. But the manga is great.
Agree to disagree I tried watching this shit several times and it’s still a no go for me. It’s popularity don’t make it good to me, hell Boruto doing numbers and that shit trash. The only reason one piece still around because it do massive numbers in Japan. I don’t know if it’s a cultural thing or what but what’s good for them don’t work for me. The story and arcs aren’t it. I skipped around episodes and arcs trying to find something to make me like it but the more I did that the more I hated it.
If it’s your thing then more power to you but I don’t think I’ll ever like this goofy shit.
I think what's interesting to me about One Piece is Devil Fruits. The idea is unique in how they operate.
Just like you I skipped around to really enjoy the series because of the concept of Devil Fruit.
But where the series falls apart for me is Luffy. I dislike everything about his Shonen nature. His zero real losses. Not counting the 1 shots. Not a real fight.
Power ups out his ass with zero training or time skips. Plus like all series that go on past a few years things get increasingly complicated.
Like Hunter X Hunter (nen) when you introduce world changing abilities midway (Haki) it breaks the series.
Because it calls into question everything before. Halfway through you introduce an ability that is vital to any strong fighter.
Where was this before? How did they not run into anyone before who uses the ability.
HUnter X Hunter for me. How was Killua the only one in the family who couldn't use nen? He was supposed to be the new head.

I wouldn't say it was trash and Super is just as bad or worse than Z. The biggest problem to me was the writer allowed the fans to dictate his story to the point it went on longer than it was supposed to and he clearly made major changes to where the characters were supposed to go. Also you have to add to the fact Z used things like fighters charging up as a form of filler.
The issue with Z for me was Gohan was supposed to take over the series and they never allowed it to happen. In Super, they could have fix this but choose to stay with the same program. Gohan should have won the tournament of power or at least had been in 17s spot at the end.Given that Gohan is supposed to have the most potential it would have made just as much sense for him to get Ultra Insticts. There were points in Super that gave the impression Gohan would do something special and it never happened. He could have at least be the person who beat the merged female Saiyan.
They didn't even have Yamcha in the tournament and somehow Master Roshi was.Mind you Roschi wasn't even a fighter in Z on any level, but all of a sudden he's stronger than Yamcha and don't bring up it being based on more than power being the reason him being selected.
Bringing back Cell made more sense than Freeza. Cell was more of a fighter than anything else and it makes more sense that he would work with the group and be more accepted than Freeza. Even the scene were Freeza was sort of training Gohan during the tournament of power would have been better using Cell. Who would have been better at showing Gohan his flaws than Cell the enemy that Gohan almost let win because he was being too soft.
I try to look at Dragonball as a whole and not spilt them. Up until Super you got to see the characters grow up. Even if I did compare the series, Z is better than Super.
I don't want to crap on DBZ. It served its purpose helping to bring anime to a western audience.
Could it have been better, of course. But because of Goku shonen protagonist have gotten deeper & more complicated.
Vegeta was ahead of his time. Too bad he'll never get the shine he deserves because they save the best for Goku.
I haven't really watched DBS so I can't comment on if the series has gotten better or worse.
Im half way in the manhwa, it gets way better after the tournament.....
Season 2 needs to be atleast 26 episodes for the second arc.

Man I can go on for days about the flaws in dragon ball Z but I’ll wait til I get to my computer for that. I'm not sure how I feel about Super, but I didn't really start watching regularly until the tournament of power. Even then it was because I had extra time. Dragonball or Dragonball Z can stand on it's own as series. To your point, Super is more of Cash grab and maybe youd have to be a fan of the prior series to enjoy Super.
I somewhat pay attention to what is happening in the manga and I can't say that I feel like Super is getting more interesting.id still watch if it gets animated though lol.
That manga will never end since the creator is taking his time...That manga been on hiatus more than being published..
