Any Recent Experience with Carnival Cruise Lines?

The Line was long as hell to dispute charges the morning I returned. If you decide to do it though, don't wait till the last minute.

I had NO IDEA this was so common.

Do the cruises routinely mess up bills like that?

They charge everything to your credit card. Some people want to pay cash for whatever they owe, instead of having the charges on their card. Thats what a lot of those people are in line for. Gratuity is standard $10/day per person. You can get that reduced or add more at the counter on the last day.

I generally cruise Royal Caribbean. But have a 8 day Carnival Cruise coming up in October.

It is on the Carnival Dream and we have a balcony on the Lido Deck lined up. I hope we are not too disappointed with the differences btwn RC and Carnival.

We generally cruise for my birthday and it has always been RC. But a great deal on Carnival came up and we can drive to the port saving alot on airfare.

Is Carnival really that bad??? Keeping it real this is going to be a chill and relax cruise. We are seasoned travelers/cruisers. We just want to get away for a week. We are NOT going to be running and doing every activity that comes up.

I think I asked before but do they have room service on a cruise and is it extra?

Been on Carnival a few times but prefer Royal Caribbean any day. We've cruised about 10 times now on various ships

One thing to know about Carnival, the cheaper ships are the Fun ships. Which tend to have the cheaper crowd who bring with them a bunch of kids running around the boat all day. Was told this by staff many times. So if we had to go Carnival, on a family trip, we try to avoid it.

And another tip, if you going to be sailing to the Caribbean and want to see more islands and less sailing, best to fly furthest there as in leave from Puerto Rico. You'll spend a day at sea then 5 days in ports and one day at sea traveling back. Other cruise ships will be taking longer days at sea and I think cheats you of days on the islands. If that matters

My wife just did a Holland America cruise to Alaska last week working for Oprah, was pretty much cold, bleak and rainy most days. Ship was bit dated but barely any kids and more of an upscale crowd.

Fam, I am thinking of going with the family...what are your recommendations?

Cause aint been on a cruise in like 15 years.

I was thinking this may be better then taking a flight down to Disney...

cause those Mouse prices are :eek2:

I am waiting for a call back about a Marvel day cruise...

just so I can check out the ships and activities.

yes they have room service, like the other dude actually posted the menu. On carnival there are somethings that are free 24 hours a day... other there is a charge, again 24 hours a day. SHit I would order like 4 turkey sandwiches and like 6 glasses of OJ, this was me and the wife's 2am snack.. you know a nigga loves a sandwich and some OJ after fucking...but some other things like sushi, was like 5 bucks it was put on your sail and sign card...

Carnival is not that bad. Like someone mentioned a cruise is what you make of it.

If you want to chill in peace there are plenty of places to go. If you want to see some action and be with people there are options for that.

One of my favorite places to go is the piano bar nice lil party vibe.

You want peace and quiet hit the adults only serenity areas.

I'll be on the dream in 5 days I'll be sure to tell you about it

Oh Nuther cool spot to hang is the aft lido and down on deck 5. You can walk around the whole outside of the ship on deck 5.

to keep you spending your money with them instead of what ever port you are at

that's why they take your liquor from you if you buy some at the duty free
Oh, and Carnival lets you take on one bottle of wine, and one case of pop per person on at the beginning of the cruise and keep it in your room. Hell the room Seward even keep putting our wine on ice for us everyday.

We normally go to the counter the day before the cruise ends to tell them we do not want the auto gratuity charged. We will tip our cabin steward ourselves. They have purposely charged us anyway before. We called them to get it removed from our credit card. Pain in the ass, but yea, its their hustle.

We love cruises. But we generally also prefer to go during the fall time in Oct-Nov when prices are cheapest because it is hurricane season, which scares many travelers, but not us. Over the years have learned from the crew, they will divert the course to avoid any tropical storms or rain as best as possible. In all the years of doing cruises only been in one somewhat storm and that's because we had to turn back around to Jamaica with 3 medical emergencies on board.

We have done many types of vacations, where we stayed in one place like a resort or rented vacation villas in places like Disney and we just prefer the cruise. And surprised to see @jagu in here saying he finally gonna go cause for years he been saying he wouldn't lol.

Just watch your pockets on excursions, some are way over priced cause the local businesses of course split the proceeds with the cruise. You can save sometimes by just taking a taxi to the same destination at times if it's not an exclusive excursion to the cruise. Most aren't.

I prefer bigger ships, and try to stay closest to the middle of the boat to avoid bounce in choppy waters if you ever get over any. Cause if you are at the front or back of the ship you will feel it. And I always do a balcony room. Don't care what people say about it barely being used. Sheeit there's been times we so drunk, we just order a shit load of food on room service (all free) and chill in our room. My cup stays full on a cruise, I don't have to drive anywhere or answer my cell for business.

Pay for it before you go, it's cheaper than what they suggest on the boat. Plus you will tend to want to give more to one person or the other when there as to how they treat you.

I liked leaving from NY. I used to live in Brooklyn and the port we left from was on the west side of manhattan 52 st. we stayed the night before and got a chance to feel like a westsider.

Thing is the ship norwegian Gem was more for older folk. I'm talking 60's was the young age :smh:

That Marvel day cruise looks like fun do that shit!!!

It will be an experience you and the fam will never forget!

damn I just called.

It aint a day cruise its part of the over all cruise...:hmm:

funny thing is when she asked he manager he apologized and said that it was actually a VERY good idea!

He gonna bring that up at their next meeting.

I was like yeah but what do I get? :hmm:

I got his direct line so if I do decide to do this?

I will call him with any questions and hopefully they will do us right.

I did Carnival last December, and it was just SO many damn children! It was honestly better than my expectations. We are going to do another one because they are so cheap. I like to leave from florida vs NY/NJ so you get to see more ports. I thought it would be drastically lower than Royal but it wasnt terrible! Definitely is what you make it and what you do in your ports of calls. Dont purchase activities on the boat since they rip you off.

Another cool spot on most carnival ships is the cigar bar.

Typically at the back of deck 5 you have 3 major gathering spots, you have the piano bar in the corner, the karaoke/comedy lounge, and the cigar bar in the corner.

Oh wanted to add, if you're a casino fiend like my ass, play early in the cruise, cause they usually tend to let many win early cause they take it back towards the end of the cruise. Gamblers know what I mean.

One cruise, 2nd day, my wife hit $900 on the slots, which I hate, and I hit over $2,500 on the roulette table. It damn near paid for the cruise, so blew a lot on jewelry and mostly liquor.

THIS is why it is hard for me to try other lines carnival gives Sooo much more bang for your buck!!!

I love my aft balconies typically on a carnival 7 day they cost about $2-2500 for the wife and I. On royal that cabin will b $3500 and up.
