Any Recent Experience with Carnival Cruise Lines?

Ain't no way in hell I would sail that many days, especially in the Pacific. Man you'll be puking your guts out. Trust Hawaii is a trip just flying but it's better over all on your body when you make landfall. The Pacific is a Monster when it comes to rough seas.

Always wanted to go to Hawaii

But that flight?

Take an Airline that has a good premium economy seat. Load up your ipad with 2 movies that you have always wanted and you will be fine.

Just for everybody's information, Virgin Atlantic has the best Premium Economy seats in any airline flying today. I flew Business class to London in April and came back in Premium economy in Virgin. I was so sick to my stomach that I paid for Business class for the outgoing flight.

We went for our 15 anniversary, what we did to break up the flying was flew from detroit to LA, stayed in LA a coupla days on to hawaii.

Then from Hawaii back to LA stayed 3 days in LA and back to detroit.

I like that.

If I could budget that out cause it sounds pricey.

Maybe go to Disneyland for a few days then Hawaii then maybe the same thing on the return or vegas?

I gotta research this.

Thats for all of the information so far. Great stuff. I'm planning on taking a ride on the Carnival Dream, I believe, in October.

Info I've gained so far.

1. Get a balcony.
2. Don't buy the alcohol pass in advance. - Very glad I was told this, I had every intention of doing it.
3. Stay in the middle of the boat.
4. Taking a 6 day cruise to reduce my chances of kids.
5. Not prepaying for any excursions.
6. Room service, morning, BLT's.
7. Prepaying tips. - I was actually going to do this anyway.

All I got so far.

Actually cheers is $50 when purchased before cruise $55 when purchased on board.
4. Taking a 6 day cruise to reduce my chances of kids.

NO typically 7 day or longer cruise to avoid kids.

Maybe I worded it wrong. I was saying that buying the pass versus just paying drink for drink seems to be a bad idea based on the posts in this thread.

Also, I'll see about upping my trip from 5 to 7 days.

Some coworkers have taken cruises with them some years back. They said the trips went smoothly. No major gripes, and they felt like they got their money's worth overall.

ok room location is a preference thing. My 1st cruise we had a room at the very front of the ship and it was almost our last.

When you are at the front you get this up and down motion as the bow/front of the ship breaks the waves, that makes me queesy when there for an extended period of time.

In the middle of the ship there is no real movement or feel of motion.

Now the rear...THAT MY SWEET SPOT:yes:

Most of my 8 carnival cruises have been in aft balconies. I love the side to side motion you get and that shit rocks me to sleep like a baby!
Darth is right stay away from the front of the boat. Thinking about going on a cruise to Mexico in Feb or March. Leaves out if New Orleans so me and the wife was gonna stay in N.O. for 2 days before we hop on the ship.

We brought on 2 bottles of champagne and a case of pop. Dropped that off at our cabin and hit the lido for guys burger and tandoori grill.
Please post some pics if you don't mind , when you post your report.
I always go to resorts but never been on a ship. I can't seem to pull the trigger on cruises but I might do it once.

Just got back from a 8 day cruise on the Carnival Sunshine, stopped at Puerto Rico, ST. Thousand Grand Turks. Ship left from New York. Personally I had a great time, but I think I'd rather not do 2 1/2 days at sea before reaching the first destination. I bought the drink package so that helped. I was At the front of the boat 3rd floor, no balcony, but wasn't In the room much. It was ok.

Back of the ship? I've had a room back there before, the view of the wake of the ship/propellers in the water is amazing. Balconies were significantly bigger and wind wasn't blowing in your face. Only thing I didn't like was that since those rooms are kind of at angles, depending on what deck you are on, people above you can see down into your balcony. I'm sure some people got a good show when me and the wife were out there doing our thing.

Keep us posted fam.

Oh Yeah, one more piece of advice.

If you get a balcony...and as I've said before, I highly recommend them...do NOT leave your room door AND balcony door open at the same time. A serious wind tunnel will start up and whip up anything that can blow away in the room.
