Any Recent Experience with Carnival Cruise Lines?

Glad this topic came up. I've been searching for a cruise to take to celebrate in between career changes. I want to wind down before hitting the new gig. I heard that there is the possibility of catching last minute cruises. I want one that would let me hit at least two ports in Brazil and get me back to a Florida port with out having to fly back home. Any cruise line suggestions?

Needless to say, those are not popular cruises but there are some. Like the brotha above me stated, those cruises are a couple weeks to over a month at least long as well.

But I know Holland and Royal have a couple that do and there are probably niche cruise lines as well but you’d have to research.

I’d also anticipate them being expensive as fuck too due to the length of the cruise and almost completely full of old retired CAC’s.

Honestly, you’d probably be better off just flying in to Rio for a week or so.

Just got back from a b-day cruise on the magic.

Had a cove balcony for the first time

And scored a bounty of booze

Getting a cruise setup for next spring and fall and I'm debating on whether to do the cove or regular balcony. I like the idea of the cove since it's lower to the water, probably cooler and got natural shade from the lifeboats above (in addition to what looks like extra privacy for the activities with my wife out there), but I hear a lot about a bunch of noise from above since apparently almost all the rooms are right under the galley and when the weather is a bit rough, they seal the balcony doors with the water tight doors.

Pro's/Con's on the cove vs the regular balcony?

Key to getting a good cove is doing your research.

I use this website to look at the deck plans
https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/cruiseline.php?line=Carnival

Than I compare the available room to whats above it on deck 3 (I use the elevators a marker.)

If its under the galley there is a chance of noise waking you up while they are getting breakfast ready.

If you stay fwd of the mid ship elevators your fine.

This is a dream class ship but its pretty much the same layout as the vista class (the 2 class ships that have cove balconies)

Xmas greetings

For those who love cruises

http://www.vacationstogo.com/christmas_card.cfm

'Twas the night before Christmas, and far out at sea
Our vessel was sailing, as smooth as could be

The stockings were hung from the balcony chairs
With hope that St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children were nestled all snug in their uppers
Having just settled down from a Christmas Eve supper

And ma and myself, we were covered in aloe
A bit too much sun, in a pool, warm and shallow

When up in the sky, there arose such a clatter
I leapt from my bed to see what was the matter

To the sliding glass door, I flew like a flash
Well, more like a saunter, and less like a dash

And what to my skeptical eyes should appear
But a great shiny sleigh, and eight flying reindeer

They circled our ship, from starboard to port
As the moon lit the driver, a jolly old sort

Who called to his team, in a happy retort
"Now Dasher, now Dancer," so on and so forth

We raced through our cabin and into the hall
To the very top deck, in time for us all

To be awed by the sight of Old Santa's sleigh
As he lightly touched down, by the midnight buffet

With a bundle of goodies thrown over his back
He rose in the air and dropped down the smokestack

Santa went straight to work, and later we learned
He found every child's cabin, from the bow to the stern

Insides and oceanviews, balconies and suites
Santa filled every stocking, with toys and with treats

Until all his deliveries had been handled with care
Then he noted he still had a minute to spare

So he surfed the wave rider, with nary a fall
While Dasher and Dancer scaled the rock-climbing wall

And Prancer, who had always been fond of the cold
Tried the ice-skating rink, a sight to behold

And then with a whistle, Santa summoned his team
And he bade us farewell, silent nights and sweet dreams

And I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of view
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good cruise.

Of course yaw don't care about that the main thing you want is how I sneak whole 5ths of alcohol on board.

Key is understanding how ships work. Most cruise ships have to load and scan 1,000's if not over 10k bags per cruise. Hell here is the bags people put out at the end of the cruise to be carried off

so what kind of scanners do the cruiselines use to scan all of that luggage?

NOT the kind TSA use at the airport. It is my understanding the system they use is color coded for quick Identification of items: ie cloths will scan blue, hardware (books tablets etc will scan green) and liquids will scan red (say your rum runners and bottles just laying there.)

I have 3 methods to avoid this detection 1st is I wrap my bottles in clothes or stuff between shoes. 2nd I align these with the poles or brackets of my luggage handles.

Now this 3rd method works for when you board and when you want to bring something back from port.

Chances are if I'm in port I am snorkeling and have my snorkel mask with me

well now its just a matter of

Now this could be in my travel backpack or a shopping bag. Key is if its flagged they ask you to step over to another table or section to go thru yo shit. I never do that I just grab my bag head towards the table than go to the elevator to my room. Or I take my snorkel out and give them the shopping bag (hey its just a snorkel nothing in there :)

Like I said its all about knowing how a ship works and the psychology of the people working there.

Another thing that helps IMO is how my wife packs. Shit looks perfect, if they were to open our case they gon be scared to death to fuck up her perfectly folded clothes. I wish I took a pic of the packed bags you would never guess there was something hidden in there.

I’m going on my first cruise ever early next month. Going on the Celebrity cruise in a royal suite room that includes everything. I’m actually looking forward to it since I have been against cruises until now.

Anybody been on one since they started back up from Covid?

Experiences?…differences from before the pandemic?

I’m not ready to start back up yet…probably will give it another year or 2.

Been on 2 since the restart. The carnival horizon in august and the mardi gras after thanksgiving.

For the most part same experience just a lil lacking on the entertainment. I imagine a lot of the good performers took other gigs or contracts.

We did not get off the ship at the ports of call and pretty much stayed to ourselves and avoided groups.

Here is a pic of our sailaway from port canaveral complete with a bunch of rednecks yelling lets go brandon?!?

Depending on the ship, it’s the safest place to be. Celebrity requires all passengers to be vaccinated and boosted. have proof of 2 day old COVID test and take an antigen test before boarding. That’s more than what churches are requiring these days.

One question

What about for kids?

Cause some can't be vaccinated and some can't be boosted.

In that case those kids get to stay at home Or ride with carnival. Otherwise,

Please note, for sailings departing on or after December 17, 2021 unvaccinated children, under the age of 12, must arrive at the cruise terminal with a negative PCR test. An additional COVID-19 Antigen test will be administered in the terminal before boarding and on the day before disembarkation.
