I read a book called Save the Cat on screenwriting. It’s supposed to be one of the best. I learned a lot, going to start using index cards and outlines more when I write my next movie.

I started working on my fantasy screenplay. I want to develop it for TV. But this is a huge task for a layman. on top of that, I don't have time to dedicate to this, but I feel like I have a story to tell...currently, I'm developing the characters. also, no name is set yet as you can see but that doesn't the story

wow

good for them.

It's something even non-WGA members should pay attention to. Studios have been stockpiling scripts just in case there's a long strike. If anyone has a completed and polished screenplay, it might be a good time to hit up some production companies. And if a strike does happen, folks on Reddit were saying that after things were sorted out, studios went on a bit of a buying spree, so that might be another favorable time to query.

Shazam was directed by David F Steinberg and this is David H Steinberg. So I don't think it's the same guy

Still, success has a lot to do with luck. No Publishing House thought Harry Potter was worth publishing, look what happened to JK Rowling.

I do need to write more though

Luck is a tricky thing.

I would rater networking connections and talent over luck. And surprisingly? Not being an asshole.

But your not wrong about how much luck plays a part.

Greetings Fam, I have a question.

When I write I see everything in my head. I see my work as a series of scenes playing themselves out. Sometimes it's tough to get started, but once I get going, I really get going.

My question is, once your finished, who proof reads your work? Really, I don't trust people to read it, so I usually copyright my stuff. I love getting feedback though, because it allows me to tighten up ideas and flaws in places that I don't see because I'm so close to the work.

It sucks not having a writing friend. I have a friend of mine that is not dependable. I've asked her to read my stuff and she has not gotten back to me

For some reason I'm bad at catching many of my own errors. I'm in the process of editing my novel after getting it back from the copy editor. Some of the changes she suggested were on point so I'm doing that now

I'm 33% done. There's 150 pages and I'm on page 53

The copy editor I had to pay for though. Now I know not to pay for the bullshit opinion. That was a mistake I won't make again.

I'm not going to copyright until I'm done with it

Now in its 19th year, 135 emerging diverse writers have graduated from the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program. Over 125 careers have been launched, including those of 18 current showrunners.

As part of its ongoing commitment to create additional access, exposure and opportunity for talented and motivated writers of diverse backgrounds, Paramount's Writers Mentoring Program is an eight-month program with a three-fold focus: It opens doors by providing opportunities for mentees to build and foster relationships with showrunners and network and studio executives. It supports emerging writers in their efforts to improve their craft by working with executive mentors. And it helps writers hone the essential interpersonal skills necessary to break in and succeed.

Each participant will be teamed with executive mentors from Paramount Global. Under the supervision of their mentors, participants will write a new writing sample. Once a week, for 16 weeks, participants will be invited to attend a small workshop-style meeting with various showrunners and other industry professionals. Speakers include agents, managers, development and current executives and showrunners. There is also a half-day mock writers room for mentees to experience the process in a safe environment.

Each participant will have help in creating a rigorous career action plan and there will be on-going support in evaluating and achieving those goals. Another important benefit of the program is the development of a close-knit peer support group that will sustain participants through the program and beyond.

It has been found that in order to derive the greatest benefit from the program, participants should be available to 1) attend a once a week (evening) workshop 2) attend a half day mock writers room and 3) have ongoing interaction with their mentors via zoom, phone or email.
Program elements such as mentoring, weekly workshops the mock writers room can be scheduled around participants’ existing work commitments.

The Paramount Writers Mentoring Program is not employment and there is no monetary compensation. It is, instead, a structured program of career development, support, and personal access to executives and the decision-making processes, with the goal of preparing aspiring writers for later employment opportunities in television.

Aspiring diverse writers with a strong desire to write for Paramount television series are encouraged to apply. You must be 21 or older and able to work in the United States to be eligible. All completed application materials must be received between April 1, 2023 and May 1, 2023 Any submissions received before April 1st or after May 1st, 2023 will not be considered.

No hand delivered submissions will be accepted. Finalists will be notified in late September 2023 (or such later date as may be determined by Paramount). The program is scheduled to begin in October 2023 and continues through April 2024. Paramount reserves the right to make adjustments to program schedule as necessary.

2023-2024 Writers Mentoring Program Applications are open April 1st 12:01 AM PST – May 1st 11:59 PM PST

I made a thread on this awhile back I believe when I did writers circle / writer's circle

I was always that friend who read treatments drafts novels short stories poetry even songs. I did it for free primarily because it was all friends or associates etc.

I got paid much later. But honestly it was too stressful lost way too many friends. Artists are so possessive and sensitive. It wasn't worth it for me. I'm still proud to say things I HAVE proof read and given notes on? Almost always got published and won. I've been thanked in books. But I don't do it no more unless it's really close circle. Even then? Not really.

You didn't ask for advice but always be willing to sacrifice FOR THE STORY. It's a living thing it changes. Put it away for a week or two then go back to it. Protect your vision of course but be open to new ideas and feelings.

And it is difficult to know WHEN it's done. That's when a good editor comes in.

I sent The Naughty Nurse Chronicles Volume I (about a Nurse who has a retaliatory affair cuz she caught her husband cheating) to a copy editor who is White. This chick tried to tell me that a woman's vagina is only 3" - 5" deep and not only is it impossible for her husband and lover to have an 8" and 11" dick, that it made her physically ill to read some of the sex scenes. It's just not possible, she said.

That fucked me up for a while but then I thought about it, she probably never had any dick dick. She's trying to tell me that big dicks don't exist and pussies can't take it if they did...she needs to get out more

I know this shit's possible because this shit is Loosely based off of a real person

I didn't use her analysis, but I am using her notes about things that don't make sense, or lines that should have been said earlier, etc.

One instance where the nurse is being feisty so her side dude kisses her at the gas station in public. She said, and I agreed that doing that in public off of a main street wasn't wise. I moved that interaction to just outside his home on a suburban side street.

Shit like that. Letting me know if I accidentally closed a quotation when someone was still talking.

Still, I wish I was in your circle, Playa, because from someone who writes but is unsure of all of the rules to writing although I seem to get it right the overwhelming majority of the time, I just feel unsure at times.

Every time I watch or think about the movie Finding Forrester, I wish I had someone like that to help me. I could really use it

By the way if you don't immediately start on a series where a white female copy editor gets aroused by one particular client's writing but never actually meeting them face to face until after quarantine... then when they meet what she thought was all fiction? Was actually true. She is introduced into wild world of sex freedom experimentation...

Model the guy after yourself.

You could have the supporting cast be bgol member avatars. Imagine the copy editor shadowing Killamayne for a story?

You can add only fans, remote control vibrators, smart phones, smart homes, incel, cuckold, swingers, etc etc

You could even mix message boards into it like bgol (bullet?)

It writes itself.

Think a black modern more realistic version on shades of grey with 9 1/2 weeks twisted in.

Boy.... you better get you write on.

I'm not an expert on dicks, but if she thinks that most men are under 8", she hasn't dealt with many Black men. Also, I'm 100% positive that vaginas can go beyond 3"-5".

It bothers me when people try to tell your story for you. We don't need anyone to do that. We need you edit, and check the verbiage/grammar. We don't need your biased input.

That's why we need our own everything from readers to editors. That women couldn't read some of my shit... She wouldn't believe it.

But don't let her discourage you though. If your sex scenes made her ill... she's either wound too tight or she's lying to you.

First of all you ARE A WRITER.

And a damn good one.

Yeah there rules until someone comes in with insane talent and breaks them then they are called a genius.

Stephen King wrote the book on writing - literally and he breaks rules.

You already ahead of most because you ACTUALLY WRITE not talk ABOUT writing.

@PsiBorg salute

Remember All this talking is cheap as f*ck. It's the time looking at that blank page where you PAY.

It's a lot to do with your style and technique.

You HAVE to have SOME type of outline.

You gotta keep all these moving pieces in order.

Legal pad, white board, index cards SOMETHING.

Don't sweat spelling and grammar

Get it OUT.

Who gives a shit about a split infinitive to know your destination is more important.

When we get there. We go back and refine.

It's a journey your creating the map as you travel. So expect dead ends wrong turns etc

But once we there? We refine the map the route the journey. Maybe more scenic maybe more direct maybe slower or faster.

That's why some write backward already knowing their destination.

You doing fine

I agree with the part about her sexual inexperience influencing her ability to do the job but there is still VALUE in it.

Many woman probably DO think that and as a writer you DO have to consider those things. So I would take it and actually ADD it to the story. And to me it's a positive.

It INTRIGUED HER. CHALLENGED HER. Effected her. Aroused repulsed frustrated

Is that not what a writer strives for?

Great points... you'll get no argument here.

I mean, we're not just writing because we want to tell a story. I think we're writing to elicit a response from people.

I love it when people comment on what I've written. It doesn't matter if it's negative or positive. But I do want it to be more positive and thought provoking. I also love it when people say that "They wanted more."

I appreciate the compliments. I really do. And you keep giving me ideas. I already got so many irons in the fire

Black Magic (which we've talked about) no title yet

The Naughty Nurse Chronicles Volume I (which I'm editing) you have already seen the cover for

End of A Nightmare (which I've mentioned and already secured the domain name for)

A Devil's Threesome (Which I've secured the domain name for) - This is NOT BGOL friendly.

I was at a lifestyle event and this woman was just sharing stories. There was nothing but fat White women there so she was more interesting than the women.

I'm straight gonna pull the same thing Dolomite did. Take a story that was decent that needs some tweaks, tweak that shit and repackage it

The shit was wild. One of the couples listening the wife said, "FUCK, this story is turning me on." She took out her husband's dick and started sucking it as the lady told the second half of the story, no lie.

I've already got a portion of that story written, but I tell you, that shit was fire.

That female copy editor story is a damn good idea. I might on that one and fuck around and send it to the same copy editor just cuz

So bro...

If a woman you talking up at a bar says

"That is impossible. The female vagina cannot fit something like THAT. It's not possible. In fact it's unnecessary. My husband told me that I'm a perfect fit. Oh my gawd excuse. I didn't mean that. Oh my gawd. I just mean if you need a piece of meat that big your vagina must be the size of the grand canyon. Sorry I don't think penis gets that big in real life. I have never seen one outside some dirty website. And those guys take drugs and have surgery. Give me 5 inches and a glass of wine I'm good. What do you even do with all that?? It's some insecure male fantasy writing. No real woman wants to read about that. They want to fantasize about a real man. 8 inches? Ha!"

Bro... not only is she buying your book but she gonna want a personal autograph

On her uterus.

She basically told that man she wants more.
