if you pass the interview and test (Maybe you wont have to do it) they will give you basic ROV training. I was already familiar with them, so I'm already a senior tech at the company.
They pay you for training too. It's chump change, but enough to get you through the 2 month. After that, you will still be making chump, change but you will be working 84 hours a week. With the overtime that's about 1700 a week gross.
If you can hack it a year, either you get a raise or move to another company and start at about 85K. I plan on staying because they will let me move to their NASA division.
if you get on a rig like a shell owned 1 they pay you 10 bucks a day just to not get hurt. (not much, but 300 tax free dollars keeps my truck full) If you are working on a batch set, you can get 3-5K pn bonuses if they complete on time.
With the way oil prices are going, this work is good for 5-8 years minimum.
A few years ago, I worked for over a month, 12 hours a day, 7 days per week. Thyat doesn't count the one Saturday when I got off@ 0630 hrs, went home & showered and went to shoot a wedding, and then went back to work @ 1900 hrs, for another 12 hour shift. I was so tired when I got off I slept for about 40 hours in the parking lot. I needed the money. I knew that when the overtime ended, I would be getting laid off soon after, so I had better make the money while it was available. But if you don't need it, don't worry about it. No shame in not wanting to kill yourself.
I've worked 12 straight before (OT over 40 hours, 1 1/2 on the weekends with shift premium for 2nd and 3rd); at Gatorade plants in the heavy production spring/summer, they work 13 on, 1 off (hourly gets paid, management is on straight fixed salary; and my girl's job, she has to work THREE STRAIGHT months everyday, with like 3 vacations day for the three months (food manufacturing, but she gets paid plus OT).

12 hour shifts? Shit I just worked 36 straight hours. And Thursday-Friday I'm going to try to work 48 straight hours. I'm going to be no good to anyone on Saturday.

7 days straight is not bad. I used to routinely do 12 hour days with no days off.
My worst was a week of 12 hour days with the icing on the cake being me coming in to work at 1:30 1 afternoon, and not leaving until 6:30 the following afternoon.
As long as you have a plan for the money at the end of it, go for it.

Mo Black your going to pay 38% on that overtime in taxes, so that time and a half really equates to about $2 an hour over your rate instead of your usual 28%...

Shit at my job they asking me to work a extra 3 days on overtime. The older guys on my shift are like man do it we need you. Being new I do want the overtime ,but on the same token I want to be home. Making over 3k in a week would be a pleasure.

On the Shell rigs they have internet. On the Anadarko ones, ninjas be fucking up the game with myspace and torrents, so they killed it off in your room.
A couple of the HOS boats only have satellite and that shit is 10 bucks a minute so no surfing. There is internet on the Chouest boats, but a lot of the captains are haters and don't share that shit.
