RPH2005 dropping knowledge! I would simply add this... I listened to this ebook years ago from Warren Buffets daughter-in-law? Point is the big takeaway was this - Only invest in companies that you clearly understand how they generate revenue. Those are the stocks you invest in for the long haul. Don't make it a difficult question... It's easy. For example, I know what Nike does and I swear I see A Nike swoosh every single day of my life. You know what, I invested in Nike! On the flip side I don't know energy... I saw some fancy article on this energy company and I bit... I lost my ass. While being simple I think this logic holds true. The smart guys can make a ton of bread... Me I'm just a dude trying to make at least 15% annually on my money.

BGOL will put you up on some shit, no doubt about that. I day trade from time to time as the OP does and I was looking for a fairly low cost stock to make a few quick dollars on. I usually work with 4 at a time, but happen to be completely liquid at the time I came across this posting.

I Saw that Rite Aid's quarterly earnings report was going to be posted tomorrow before the market opened and took the plunge. I purchased 9,065 shares@ 7.2339

I made 1,858.30 as the stock gained 28 cents/share. Not bad for a day's work.

Here is the after hours (unofficial) gains so far:

So I'm reading this trade bit by bit, and this reply stood out to me.

King_of_Posts says he brought 9,065 shares@ 7.2339. So is the 9,065 times 7.2339 which equals roughly $65,575 dollars? Am I doing the math right?

Ford just released a new 700LBS lighter aluminum body F-150, and the stock went up.

Ford Motor Company
NYSE: F - Nov 11 5:17 PM ET
14.370.37 (2.64%)

I was reading on the fool.com that Activision-Blizzard is a good stock pick for November. It does make sense with X-mas right the corner. I don't know shit about this, but I do find it interesting.

Activision Blizzard
NASDAQ: ATVI - Nov 11 5:51 PM ET
20.610.31 (1.48%)

Why invest in this stock now, when business is looking bleak? Because growth is neither symmetric nor predictable and Activision still has one of gaming's most enduring franchises in Call of Duty. The newest entry -- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare -- is scheduled to be released on Monday, Nov. 3. If history serves, the title will sell at least 14 million units and possibly much more. (The series average is 13.96 million units per title.)

you the options guy. i don't do options. i don't get it, never have, probably never will.

 @ option guy.

I learned to trade options in March of this year by watching Tastytrade. It taught me to use options in a more risk defined way besides speculative.
You can be wrong with your assumption that the market or stock will go up, down, or stay neutral and still make money as long as the price doesn't cross the strike level you picked. :)

I was planning on getting out of rewalk before the earnings report tomorrow. I'm still down so I'll see how it does tomorrow. It's up over 3% after hours. I'll still need a double digit run-up just to break even.:smh:

Yep you're right. I've still been day trading and doing pretty good...5 figure gains for the year.

I knew Rite-Aid wasn't a stock I really wanted to play with for too long so I made a few thousand and got out. As of this posting, it's trading at $5.53 and had waaaay more downs than ups.

Stock of the day: ZAZA.

bought 82 shares at $2.55 per share. i looked at the trends and it looks like it has gone as high as $7 per share. I can wait it out till it makes a decent profit and dump it.
This is actually very exciting. I figured i can fund my stock purchase with bank bonuses. Some banks are offering up to $200 for opening an account with direct deposit. If you're broke like me, you should know how to trigger a direct deposit without actually making a direct deposit.

So what kind of taxes should i expect from buying and selling stocks?

Man, mad props to you brother!!! I was happy to see us doing those kind of numbers, so I had to ask. I got to say to you, Simonmarcel, my man rph2005, and everyone else to keep posting tips and keep this thread alive.

I llike tech stocks because I would understand what the company does more then any other company. Im going to get some of that apple ass, but i wanted to if anyone knows of any good ones selling under $10 a share with the potential for growth?

discuss such matters with your accountant

riteaid comes to mind.it wont stay down forever. but be prepared to wait. i personally don't do stocks less than $20 anymore because i have realized its not the price of the stock that determines how well it's gonna do. you actually have a better chance of doing well owning 2 stocks of a $100 stock like apple than owning 100 shares of some mediocre company at $10 a share.

i see. well, i guess if you have any specific questions, you could always ask the brokerage firm directly as to how your taxes next year are gonna be impacted by your present doings.
your style of trading will determine how much you owe Uncle Sam. short term vs long term vs day trading.

Rite Aid is up at the close today. It's going for $5.53 and it all time high was a little over $8. You think it will get back close to it's $8 high? I got piece of it, not much, just a little booty squeeze.

RAD
Rite Aid Corp
$5.53
Up
+0.14 (2.60%)

Did anybody get in on that new Virgin America IPO? Shit went over 30% since it went public this morning. Started at $23 and closed at $30. Think it will hold, go up, or drop?

VA
Virgin America Inc
$30.00
Up
+7.00 (30.43%)

I want to get in on Apple, but it's out of my reach right now. All I'm doing now is just adding cash to my account when I can, and see if it holds after the holidays.

Rite aid i believe will come back up but i think it will take a while. low reimbursements for prescriptions filled are not helping their case but overall as a company they have really overhauled their way of doing things. it showed....last year. unless you're willing to go long, i wouldn't start putting money into it.
Virgin, i didn't buy into. IPOs are tricky.

The IPO release at 23, and by time it hit the public it was at 28. I took a chance on it (won't do that to often) and picked it up at 29 a share. It's now at $31.69 right now, and most are saying it should max out $35. Once oil prices and then gas goes back up, I'll dump 75% of my shares to get some money back and hold the rest...I hope.

lol, you took that plunge fam? I was looking at it real skeptically, but said i'll take the risk and actually attempted to buy but I wasn't able to from my location and just said fuck it, guess it wasn't meant to be..

how did your experience go?

how is that possible? only time that ever happened to me was when i went to go visit my wife's people in Nigeria. Sharebuilder didn't allow me to access my account. Went back a week later to Ghana and presto, it let me in.

Anybody jumping on Lending Club? I didn't find out about until it was up 53% so I left it alone. It's close to 60% now. I actually wanted to lend money with them about 3 years ago but they're not authorized my my state.
