Shit sell when you’re up. That’s all I can say. I fucked up my first one this week holding too long.

What? Told you to close that position and take the profits! Once more greed will destroy you when playing options.
Better a few extra dollars in your pockets than to give away money.

Can someone school me on this options game.
thanks in advance
a quick summary of options from what i have learned so far, someone correct me if i putting out misinformed info
you get a contract,
robinhood gives u price of the contract(which will be 100 shares of whatever the contract cost)
you get a breakeven price for the stock
you want to get your stock to go towards the breakeven price, you choose whether the stock go higher or lower to that breakeven price
buy a call(u betting the price of the stock will rise past the breakeven price)
buy a sell(u betting the price of the stock will go lower than the breakeven price)
always sell before the contract expire(possible be on the hook for 100 shares of the stock so i understand)

One thing i'll add and i didn't realize this at first. All the option contracts(premiums) before and slight after your breakeven price increase in value as your stock price increases. This is assuming you're playing some kind of call option.

You don't have to get to breakeven price to start seeing profits.

:yes::yes:

This is how some people play a stock like Tesla. The premiums(contract) are insanely expensive at or close to the current stike price. However contract much further out are much cheaper. Here's the catch as the stock prices increases(still playing call options here..works in reverse with put plays) those further out premiums increase too... All the contracts squentially down the line increase. Obviously not as much or as fast as the contracts nearer the strike price. But increase is increase..gain is gain

Today was a good day. I officially doubled my account from when I started it in June. I put in an amount and said I’m not going to add any more cash until I can be consistent with what I started with. From June to the end of August I lost a 1/3 of it but from Sept to today I got it back and doubled. I’m still rocking a smallish account but progress feels amazing. My next goal is to increase it by another 50% and then I will spin it off into a new account where I will match it and keep building. Much respect to all of you who helped me get here. Let’s keep eating!

So question to the fam, my plug call option is showing a 68% profit, dec 18 exp.
I’m thinking bow out now, get back in if it drops.
You have to remember that options are depreciating assets. Over time, even if the stock price stats the same or goes up slightly, it looses value.

Sell brother, reinvest with just a fraction of the profits. If the price keeps going up, you can make more money buying a cheaper option and continuing to ride the wave.

This makes so much sense now.

Earnings preview: Reports from Juniper and Arista show that Cisco could struggle to produce solid results and forecast, analyst says

Cisco Systems Inc.'s ability to withstand the COVID-19 pandemic likely hinges on how well the maker of computer- networking equipment has shifted its sales mix to cloud customers.

Cisco (CSCO) faces a potentially rough reception on Thursday after the close of markets, when the company reports first-quarter results. Citi Research analyst Jim Suva, who has a neutral rating on the stock, said he doesn't expect much of an upside to forecasts or a return to profit growth near-term for Cisco, given the company's high exposure to service provider and traditional, on-premises customers.

"While the company does not disclose its customer mix, we believe its service provider exposure is likely around 20% of sales and cloud is much less," Suva said.

Given that service-provider sales are struggling, enterprise and small-to-medium-sized business sales are having an even tougher time, the analyst said. Suva estimates that 60% of Cisco sales are made up of enterprise and SMB sales.

The Citi analyst cited recent reports from Juniper Networks Inc (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/juniper-stock- rises-on-in-line-results-forecast-11603832701).(JNPR) and Arista Networks Inc. (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/ arista-networks-stock-heads-for-best-day-in-three-years-after-earnings-2020-11-03)(ANET) to gauge Cisco's outlook based on their relative sales exposure to service providers versus cloud customers. Juniper, with 40% exposure to service providers and 25% to cloud, forecast a "muted" fourth quarter and 2021 outlook, Suva said. Arista, which has 26% exposure to service providers and 37% to cloud, expects double-digit sales growth in the fourth quarter and 2021, the analyst noted.

Arista shares are up 28% for the year, while Juniper shares are down 13%.

Earnings: Analysts on average expect Cisco to report net income of 70 cents a share, down from net income of 84 cents a share a year ago. Analysts have lowered their outlook for the quarter since the last earnings report -- they had been projecting net income of 75 cents a share at the end of July before Cisco issued a forecast of 69 cents to 71 cents a share in August .
Fingers crossed here too.

A couple of factors are driving it up. A few days ago JP Morgan upgraded their price target for NIO from $40 to $46. Also, everyone is anticipating their Q3 2020 earnings call on NOV 18th.

I just read an article that said $XPEV's positive earnings report today is also playing a roll. Folks see it as a sign of what to expect from $NIO's earnings next week..

Just got 5 Pfizer puts at $36 strike 11/20(cost $85 total), already up $55.... fingers are crossed....:scared:

The pattern the last 3 trading periods are that it dips opening bell to about 11am.
It dipped opening bell this morning and i went in on a conservative positon. Got out a few minutes ago with about $150...It's nothing crazy but money is money and i ain't leaving nothing on the table.

You never know holding overnight with these things because anything can happen afterhours and/or premarket. If it's in your favor then great. But if it isn't ain't shit you can do about it until opening bell.

However, My guess is it drops even more tomorrow. I'm not holding to find that out. I'll wait for CONFIRMATION tomorrow and then may take that action or take action on something that's even more assured like $APPL dropping. They're due either Friday or sometime next week.

But, What i'm truley excited about is $NIO. They're supposed to have an earnings report.

UPDATE: Apparently, Trump adminsitration readies crackdown on US investments in Chinese Firms ( When they sleep! We eat...Lol, Get your put plays ready!)

Biden/Harris has been great for clean energy, ev etc type plays...all the ev companies. The distrubution companies $PLUG has been up.
Once Trump stops being an ass(unlikely) i'd go long term on EV, distrubution, wind, solar etc type companies.

Dang it!! I told you to sell and not hold. Lol!!

No worries. Learn from the lesson and move on bro.

What's crazy is a few months ago i was just like the poster. As much as we want to avoid it i personally think losing and fing up is the best teacher imaginable. You'll never forget when you got greedy and loss all your profits play most if not all your investment too. That shit hurts and stays with you. It makes you more appreciative when you're up and take profits and run.
